Good Morning Everyone,
its dark but dry here in brackley this morning.
Todays plans a small local shop later , I was due a parcel today , but have now been told a Saturday delivery by Amazon .
I wished I had paid a charge and got it delivered to my local Waitrose.
Take Care,
Mick

Know what you mean Greyduster, after confined at home its quite an excitement to be let lose in a supermarket to choose oneself.

Was nice to be at the gym and currently have a delightful female sky engineer climbing ladders to dishes and sorting me out.

Bolo Rei and Bolo Rainha

Good morning all from Glasgow. Rain has stopped, probably not for long, but sunny and milder is a more pleasant start to the day.

Decorations I took down a couple of days ago will be packed away for next time. A look at my to do list, hoping to tick a few off today also, I must renew my driving licence which requires doing every three years since I turned 70. You are a year older than me kitty. In my head I am nowhere near that age but, alas, my body doesn’t agree!

I haven’t a clue what’s going on with GP surgeries Marydoll. We too have been told emergencies only but thinking I couldn’t phone for an appointment for DH, I went to the surgery only for the receptionist to tell me I could still phone to discuss meds. or to make an appointment. 🤷‍♀️
I hope your consultant comes up with a solution for you.
Hoping too, all goes smoothly for your DSF today. Urms

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good Morning everyone. I’ve been taking down the Christmas decorations this morning and haven’t caught up with anyone yet. I did notIce that Mattie’s beautiful Roscon was as popular as expected. The Spanish cake /loaf intrigues me. We have a Bolo Rei (King Cake) here which will be available everywhere today. I’ll try to find a stock photo of it in a minute. Also a Bolo Rainha ( Queen Cake) which is less “jewelled “ and has nuts as well but tends to be less readily available, maybe it’s a regional thing.

The weather is fine and a nice sunny 17°C today.
Best wishes especially to all who are poorly including Urms dear stepfather and Marydoll.

Blossoming Fri 06-Jan-23 11:33:58

Good morning all from Lancashire, it’s feeling much milder here and it’s not raining at the moment. Marydoll, AnnSixty and Urmstongran keeping my fingers crossed for you all today.

I have been loving following your travels and your beautiful photos Shazza.

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, my head is full of cotton wool

A late good morning from S Lanarkshire. Spent most of the night keeping youngest DD and family’s plane in the air as they travelled home across the Atlantic and as a result didn’t wake up till almost ten o’clock!

Do hope you get some help Marydoll and other’s hospital visits go well. Also hope they can sort out your stepdad’s horrible nosebleeds Urms

You’re having a tough time too baubles, thinking about you.

Meeting two long term friends for a post Christmas lunch and chat today and am looking forward to that, so I’ll just wish everyone a decent day with improvement for all who need it🦩

Good morning all from the Black country.
Haven't read through yet tablet been on charge. Did read Urms step father is getting very prompt attention so good to hear.
No plans today just a small local shop gets my exercise in.
Shall now grab a cuppa and read everybody's happenings, enjoy your Friday and may you all find some 🌞.

Good Morning from an almost sunny Oxfordshire, didn’t get to sleep until 6.30 this morning. Moral of this is don’t have a Diet Coke half an hour before going to bed ( but I was sooo thirsty) and then don’t get up and get out a good book.
I left a note for MrOops to wake me up at 10, which he did and he made me a coffee to wake me up.
I had such a long list of things to do, none of which I have the slightest inclination to get on with. Maybe another coffee might help, although it’s decaf……..
Problems with both of the teenage GCs as well at the moment, as MrOops says “stop fretting” sigh.
Anyway.
So glad you have got somewhere at last with your GP Marydoll let’s hope he can help.
hope the hospital appointments go well Urms and Ann

Welcome to the newbies, so many posts each morning!

Have as good a day as you all can and hugs for those who aren’t feeling quite so chipper or who have cares and sorrows.

baubles Fri 06-Jan-23 10:36:39

A very late good morning from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

We both slept badly due to a combination of coughing (both), painful legs (DH), stoma issues (me), and the wind whistling outside and causing windows to slam shut. Ready for my bed again!

I’m glad you’ve managed to get a real appointment Marydoll, and hopefully the gp will be of some help.

Good luck to your FIL Urms.

No plans today thankfully except for some meal planning and supermarket shopping.

Have the best day possible everyone.

harrigran Fri 06-Jan-23 09:52:09

Late good morning from a windy NE.
SIL came yesterday and we went shopping, a day later than usual,
After lunch we took down the Christmas tree and packed away the decorations. I then hoovered up all the pine needles confused it is an artificial tree.
Will make some soup today as I have a lot of vegetables left over.
Belated birthday greetings and thoughts are with those who are suffering.

Good morning all. It's a glorious day again on the Angus coast and the full moon was shining in all its glory as the sun rose. To be back at tai chi yesterday was just perfect. There were just six of us (the schools aren't back yet, so babysitting duties took precedence for the rest) and we worked quite hard. I said to them that instead of me teaching them, I'd like them to teach me - I knew someone would jump in! It made for an interesting discussion and practice - before it was cuppa and chat time and a final set. I had been feeling quite tired and jaded before class, but afterwards I felt as if I was walking on air, with all tension gone. Three of us went up the road for a bowl of soup before going our separate ways. Such a lovely morning.
Today, back to the mundane and when I finish this I'm going to get my towel wash hung out in the sun and stuff breeze. Oh, and I forgot to mention that the clumps of snowdrops, along with a few if the earlier daffs, have poked their little noses through beneath the old plum tree. So lovely to see. Sometimes I feel as if I live in paradise. At others maybe not so much 😉
Marydoll I'm so glad you had a worthwhile response to your phonecall this morning - just knowing that someone is listening must be enough to lift your spirits. Urms I hope all goes well with your Stepfather's transfusion - and the journey!
Having read all the posts I find now I can't remember who said what - but I do remember those lovely photos Shazza, thank you for those and enjoy the rest of your stay.
Have a good day everyone, and may the aches and pains ease off - and workmen all behave x

Anniebach Fri 06-Jan-23 09:39:46

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning from a bright but windy Durham.
Plenty to do today, but my energy level is low and I seem to be getting nowhere fast!
Well done Marydoll securing a face-to-face appointment later – I hope you get the outcome you need! Fingers crossed Urms DSF feels better soon, he sounds a lovely chap.
DD1 is still testing positive and is quite poorly. DD2 is back at hospital for treatment on her foot wound - it’s going to be a long haul.
Best wishes to all. X

hollysteers Fri 06-Jan-23 09:24:07

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest Lancashire coast.
Decs and lights down, strange how they lose their magic by twelfth night.
Off to art this morning, packed lunch and band practice this afternoon. I’ll be glad to be in tonight. It’s good to go out to enjoy coming home.
Cabin crew daughter’s colleague had a death on her plane just about to land and gave mouth to mouth resuscitation etc, rather traumatic. DD just promoted to manager for long haul and of course these things happen.
All the best for today.

Nannagarra Fri 06-Jan-23 09:21:34

I hope all goes well for your DGD annsixty.

NanKate Fri 06-Jan-23 09:16:55

Thinking of you Marydoll sending hugs from your Sassenach friend.

Jaxjacky Fri 06-Jan-23 09:10:58

Good morning all from a still, dry S Hampshire. We seem to be sleeping later and later, but we’re both getting over colds.
A quiet few days, the festives seem a long time ago now, daughter and grandchildren are calling in after school, I expect a few leftover sweets will be eaten.
Hoping all medical appointments go well and safe journey to those travelling. Thank you for pictures Shazza delightful.
Enjoy your day🦩🦩

Nannagarra Fri 06-Jan-23 09:10:34

Good morning from Sefton.
Scaffolding is being erected as we’re having a new roof. Like cornergran, I’ve had a mooch in the loft. I was keen to assess the “stuff” (always an apt mot) which will be exposed to the elements. Decluttering is planned, though when the Christmas decs migrate from the garage…
Where’s the emoji for a hamster in a wheel?
Oh, yes, Mick, we also concluded we’d have been better having DS’s Christmas present delivered to Waitrose (not faffed around with N- - - and believed the promises). I hope all goes well for your step father Urmstongran, that this wonderful, gentle man soon feels better. Marydoll - no one should have to struggle like this. Have the best day possible everyone.

Greyduster Fri 06-Jan-23 09:07:43

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it’s shaping up to be a clear day. I slept badly last night. DD came over yesterday and drove me to Aldi to so some shopping. I haven’t been out for so long it felt quite exiting!🤦‍♀️ She then cleaned all the gloss cabinets in my kitchen, cleaned the floors and we sat down and spent a pleasant hour looking through the photos I am supposed to be sorting out for son in law to scan for me. I may get on with that today but I also need to walk outside and see if I can stretch the distance a bit now. We’ll see. I had a long phone conversation with my best friend last night - she doesn’t drive and is in poor health, and I can’t drive at the moment but we are anxious to see each other; it’s been too long. Time’s winged chariot and all that……
Welcome Hymnbook; do keep posting.
Have the best day you can folks.

luluaugust Fri 06-Jan-23 09:05:41

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Shopping today for family get together tomorrow, large lasagne required by GS soon back at Uni so I shall be kept occupied today after shopping.
So glad you have got somewhere Marydoll
hope the hospital appointments go well Urms and Ann
Good wishes to all

GrannySomerset Fri 06-Jan-23 09:01:31

Feel as though I have been run over, which I think is a response to Wednesday’s funeral and a year’s accumulated grief. Beautiful morning here which lifts the spirits, and all I have planned is a hearing aid check so I I shall finish putting Christmas away and focus on the future.

Hope the hard won appointment with the GP is helpful, Marydoll, that Urmston’s FiL feels better after his transfusion and that Ann’s DGD has a successful hospital visit. And that the rest of us have at least a good enough day.

EkwaNimitee Fri 06-Jan-23 08:56:51

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright but windy Carlisle.

A spot of cleaning round the kitchen shortly then I'm hoping to go outside and finally plant a small fruit tree that has been heeled in since before Christmas. The only problem is I hate being out in wind! Needs must though as the weekend forecast is dire. After making a martyr of myself out there, I can then sit and read with a clear conscience.

Yesterday being damp and gloomy again spurred me on to book a holiday in Spain for March, something to look forward to and not too long to go.

Good luck Marydoll I hope you get the help you need without all the hassle you seem to have to endure.

And the best possible day to all.

Wyllow3 Fri 06-Jan-23 08:53:23

Morning from a much lighter S Yorks - a sunrise, mixed sky.

Cabin fever after yesterday in all day, so off to the gym: this afternoon a Sky engineer calls hopefully sort everything out.

The very best with hospital and GP appointments for today and may outings and meet ups and grand-parenting go well.

Grammaretto Fri 06-Jan-23 08:46:02

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Blowing a hoolie here but I slept ok. too long
The first long group walk of the year saw 20 of us. I was tired afterwards.
Today the tree comes down and the cards.
The electrician is coming later to see why neither washing machine nor dishwasher are working.
Madeira looks very tempting Shazza

Hope the hospital appointments go well Urms and Annsixty Such a shame it's so far .
I've been told I will need to go to Glasgow for a cataract operation though there's no date yet.
Marydoll I despair with you.
Have a gentle day if you can.

Marydoll Fri 06-Jan-23 08:45:40

Thanks for your good wishes.

I phoned at 8am, to hear a message saying, Urgent calls only.
Undeterred, I hung on and spoke to a receptionist.
Much to my surprise, five minutes later, the senior partner phoned me.
I have a face to face appointment later, miracles do happen! I feel as if a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders, as I have been going downhill for weeks.
