Morning Mick, morning All from a windy, currently dry corner of Somerset.

Yesterdays heavy rain kept us indoors other than a quick trip to collect a package at Boots. Rain is due again any moment, a really heavy sky. I foresee a pottering day ahead accomplishing not very much.

Hope church is less difficult than you fear grandmattie. We find the two motorways into Wales always make for a stressful trip karmalady, the trip must have been exhausting in yesterdays weather. Well done to your granddaughter jax. Go gently marydoll.

Take care everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Church this morning but nothing else planned. Hope it stays dry - sky has patches of pink cloud so am not sure what that means - because I don’t fancy a soaking.

Morning from a damp S Hampshire with dark clouds looming. I’ll be thinking of you gMattie.
Granddaughter completed her three hours of orienteering yesterday in wind and rain, she did well.
My brother and wife are here for a late lunch today, they had a major leak in their bungalow just before Christmas, assessor not due until the 11th.
Hoping poorly people have a better day. Enjoy yours if you can 🦩🦩.

Morning all from S Yorks, its mostly grey but calm.

Didnt go out or get dressed yesterday: I binge watched the rest of the "His Dark Materials" yesterday evening: still very tired but want to make it to Quakers and the gym.

All the very best for church, Grandmattie and lovely pix, Shazza. a horrible drive, karmalady, or the two, a wet road and the glare the scariest to me!

Marydoll Sun 08-Jan-23 08:13:59

Good morning all from a windy Glasgow, where its currently 7°C.

Waiting for an update from Urns.
I hope today isn't too difficult for you today, GM, I felt very anxious about going back to church, when I stopped sheilding.
As Mark Twain said, The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated. People kindly approached to say they had missed me, they meant well, but I felt awkward having to explain why I was missing. I just wanted a quick getaway. I usually look really well, so people think I'm exagerrating! 😉

I did nothing yesterday and it will be the same today. The least exertion leaves me wiped out and light headed.
My most onerous task, is to prevent Mr MD from worrying about me, he is watching my every move and expression. He is my rock!

Wishing you all a pleasant day and best wishes to all, who are poorly or have worries.

Good Morning everyone from Madeira. I am sitting on the balcony because I shot out of bed after hearing the unmistakable buzzing of a mosquito.
Thankyou for all your birthday wishes yesterday. It was a lovely day. We all stayed at the hotel and had a swim and sat in the jacuzzi together. We played mini golf and French boules. The hotel left a bottle of cava and another guest a bottle of red wine so we all sat on my sister’s large balcony and played Uno cards which got very silly. Dinner last night was a beautiful Indian meal.

Today it’s our last full day so I’m not sure what we all fancy doing. The lads are all playing tennis this morning for an hour.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone full of family and friend gatherings and delicious Sunday lunches. Thoughts to those ill or worried🌻🌻

Pics are of the gorgeous Funchal Christmas lights.

Grammaretto Sun 08-Jan-23 08:01:46

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very windy but not cold.
I have offered to help at the art centre today as there's been storm damage mid renovations.

The electrician came yesterday and fixed the hall lights and the dodgy sockets so I was able to use the washing machine for the first time in weeks. you'll be pleased to hear

I made a nice veggie casserole which will do me today and a pudding. It's comfort food time. smile
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a damp, dismal but less windy Colchester.
I am still in bed as DH has gone fishing so I got an extra bit of sleep sans snoring.
It's a quiet day again. I'll go for a walk if the rain holds off and cook a roast pork dinner this evening.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it sounds very windy and there’s rain on the windows
A big step gMattie, hope you feel better afterwards
Our plans changed yesterday and I didn’t get much done as DD2 and DGS came round for lunch and stayed most of the afternoon. It was lovely to see them and I didn’t mind a bit. I’ll hopefully catch up with things today.
I’ve got some salmon for later so we’ll enjoy that with fresh veggies
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Morning all

It’s just getting light here in S E Essex, the rain has stopped at last but it’s still rather blustery.

I began to feel off colour as the day went on yesterday, I didn’t even feel like reading. So I dozed on the sofa last night watching Rod Stewart on BBC2. I have woken up this morning after an odd nights sleep of vivid nonsensical dreams feeling better.

Nothing planned today, which after the last six or so weeks is much needed. I shall cook roast pork later, we eat somewhere between 7 - 8pm normally.

Thinking of Marydoll and our Urmstongrans step-father, along with grandMattie being brave today.

Have a peaceful Sunday, however you spend it 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s just getting light and although not raining at present it is forecast.

I’m staying in and have some letters to write and cards to make. I’ve got a venison casserole out of the freezer and Ladyleftfieldlover talking of dumplings has reminded me that I think I have some in the freezer. I shall have a look later.

All good wishes for your Sunday 🌺

Good morning all from Harrogate- no idea what the weather is like. Hoping it will be dry for me to go to church this morning. Yesterday did a load of baking, mainly crumbles for puddings.
Christmas decorations are all safely away - the house looks bare, and I can see the dust!! (maybe tackle it this afternoon). The better the day, the better the deed.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from Shropshire.

DGD still asleep after the ‘ninja’ party yesterday evening.H woke us early with his coughing which stops as soon as he gets up.We will take them to their swimming lessons later where we will meet DD then home to clear up the carnage.I think we will probably nod off after lunch😴

Hoping Urms stepfather has had a good night and that Mary is feeling better.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Ashcombe Sun 08-Jan-23 07:34:03

Good morning, all from a calm Torbay following a wet and windy day yesterday during which we hibernated whilst taking the tree apart before “putting Christmas away” for another year.

Winter driving can be unpredictable but I’m glad you completed your difficult journeys safely, karmalady; there can be a sense of satisfaction in surviving the elements.

I’ll be thinking of you at your later service, grandMattie, and can understand it feeling like a challenge. No doubt folk will understand your reluctance to engage with them too much.

After our services today, there is an Epiphany lunch from church at a local hotel for which DH and I are booked. He enjoys participating in the social aspects of my church life, if not the spiritual.

I hope everyone finds contentment in whatever they do and that today sees improvement in those who are unwell. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

Good morning all from a very dark North Leicestershire. Alexa tells me that it is 6°.

We had a lovely day with most of the family yesterday - it's rare to get a full compliment as the dgc get older. It was very tiring. We have DD2 and family here till this afternoon.

DD1 is going back to work on Monday, her hair has come back and has started to curl which pleases her - the grey pleases her less.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gala Sun 08-Jan-23 07:18:07

Good morning from an exceedingly wet Sefton. I can hear rain bashing against the window. Where is everyone this morning? Sensibly still tucked up all cosy in bed I expect. We didn't manage to get out of the house yesterday & it looks like it will be the same today. No plans just gentle pottering.
Take care all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 08-Jan-23 07:06:58

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It’s dark outside and I’ve no idea about the weather except it’s a bit windy. I have a big pile of ironing which I’ll do today as I have a busy week coming up. Later I’ll make an old fashioned beef casserole and dumplings for dinner. Possibly a steamed sponge pudding and custard too. Have a peaceful Sunday.

karmalady Sun 08-Jan-23 06:55:53

Good morning, it seems as though the s somerset will have some more intense rain later and the levels will fill even more. The levels is a marvellous system of flood water storage with pumping into the river and out to sea

Motorway into wales was a nightmare. My area is a microclimate and weather was reasonable when I left but as soon as I hit the motorway it was fast wipers and fog lights all the way. Coming back it was bright sun, wet roads and so much road glare to cope with, horrible conditions.

Very tired last night, in bed by 8.30, and asleep by 9.30 with the radio still on

A brisk walk up a hill is in order later, followed by knitting and setting up my best spinning wheel. I have moved it downstairs and ordered a new flyer for it with smooth ceramic inserts. I shall put some lovely beeswax polish on the wood later. It is already tactile but will be even more so

Have a good and peaceful day

grandMattie Sun 08-Jan-23 06:02:23

Good morning from E Kent. Isn’t the full moon lovely?
The wind has died down a bit; I find it enervating and don’t like it much.
A quiet day ahead. I shall try going to church at 1030. I haven’t been to that service since Philip died and feel very nervous about it. But..I need to put my big girl pants on and face the congregation. I might escape within seconds of the service finishing today though.
I hope everyone has a gentle day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
