grandMattie

I did it! I went to the 1030 service, arrived on the dot, left as soon as the blessing was said. Was in tears for most of the service. Next week will be better…

Well done you, baby steps 😘👏

A late good morning from Glasgow. I woke at 6.30 and promptly fell asleep again. Patches of blue sky, sunny and breezy is a welcome change to constant rain.

Such a worrying time for you Urms. I wish your DSF well and hopefully whatever treatment is decided does the trick.
A gentle day ahead for you Marydoll and allow your rock to do what he will see as his job of caring for you.
kitty, my friend’s hair grew back curly too after chemo. I was so envious as mine is polker straight.
A warm welcome Liberty

Some time pottering in the garden at last will keep me occupied for a good while today.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good morning Mick and all from a rainy northwest coast.
Quiet day again today, will wash my hair and possibly go to a local folk club for the first time tonight and see if I enjoy it. I know a couple of people there.
Also have to go through some songs suggested by the band to see if the keys are right. I’m finding one member a pain, bossy and controlling, all with a fixed smile. There always seems to be one in a group of people who is the fly in the ointment, or maybe I’m easily irritated…
Thoughts to grandmattie and anyone with worries.
Will read through later.

Sorry to hear of your stepfather's setback Urmstongran, so disappointing for him and yourselves.
Hopefully he'll receive a plan of action from tomorrow's hospital appointment.

Good Morning everyone from Madeira. I am sitting on the balcony because I shot out of bed after hearing the unmistakable buzzing of a mosquito.
Thankyou for all your birthday wishes yesterday. It was a lovely day. We all stayed at the hotel and had a swim and sat in the jacuzzi together. We played mini golf and French boules. The hotel left a bottle of cava and another guest a bottle of red wine so we all sat on my sister’s large balcony and played Uno cards which got very silly. Dinner last night was a beautiful Indian meal.

Today it’s our last full day so I’m not sure what we all fancy doing. The lads are all playing tennis this morning for an hour.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone full of family and friend gatherings and delicious Sunday lunches. Thoughts to those ill or worried🌻🌻

Pics are of the gorgeous Funchal Christmas lights.

Happy belated birthday to another Capricorn. I didn’t read yesterday’s posts.
Madeira is one of our favourite places, so thanks for the photos.

Urms so sorry to hear about your stepfather let's hope tomorrow's appointment will get him sorted. DH had to have his nose cauterised he was in hospital about 4 days.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 08-Jan-23 11:07:34

Oh Urms. That must be so disappointing for your stepfather after doing so well. Hopefully the hospital will sort him out tomorrow. I am reminded of when my late mother first started being ill. I dreaded the telephone ringing at home or in my office. All I could do was jump in my car and drive to Reading to whichever hospital they had taken her. My stepfather was around but my brother and sister both live in Australia so I was always the designated sibling!

Marydoll Sun 08-Jan-23 10:50:58

Urms, I had this problem and eventually my nose had to be cauterised. Thankfully, it did the trick! I don't know if that is st a procedure, which is still done.

dragonfly46 Sun 08-Jan-23 10:47:54

Oh Urms so sorry to hear about your SF. I know what you mean about families. I spent more time in hospitals with my parents in their last years than I like to think about.
I do hope they can offer a solution tomorrow.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 08-Jan-23 10:45:47

Hope tomorrow goes well Urms it’s a worrying time for you all, but a prompt appointment is good.

Urmstongran Sun 08-Jan-23 10:32:51

Just got a phone call from my stepfather. He’d had another nosebleed last night between 10pm and midnight. He said it took some stopping. I asked him how he was feeling. “Weary. And a bit of a nuisance really”. I said “Ach, you can just cut that thinking right out mister. It’s what family’s do.” We are grateful an ENT specialist is seeing him tomorrow morning though. I’d been hoping the nasal cream had worked, but it seems not.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, showers forecast this afternoon, so shall be staying put.

Spent yesterday afternoon taking down the Christmas tree and all the other decorations; all now packed into their boxes and bags and waiting to go out to the garage, or upstairs. Looks very bare, but I have kept the fairy lights up on the mantle-piece, so still looks pretty. Dusted empty shelves and surfaces as I went along.

Watched the remaining two episodes of 'Stonehouse' last night, which I found very amusing but sad - what a deluded man.... I have plenty of recorded programmes to watch today after I have caught up with the newspapers.

A 'Cook' stroganoff for dinner tonight, will just do some rice and veg to go with it, and have a nice glass of red wine.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday - and a warm welcome to Liberty.

Good morning from a wet Oxfordshire, the moon was so bright at 3.30 that I thought we would have a frost, that also explains why I am so late getting up this morning, I just couldn’t get to sleep.
Another cupboard to sort today, I did one yesterday and had some stuff left out that I couldn’t get back in!
My packing skills aren’t what they used to be.
Welcome Liberty
Marydoll hope you feel better soon.
GM I hope Church went well.
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who are worried, ill or stressed.

Good morning from a grey and dreary Stockport.
I am late to the party this morning after a disturbed night.
Our outing to the Turkish restaurant was disappointing although I suppose I enjoyed being out.
The place was so busy with no less than five birthday parties.
Lots of small children and so noisy.
Consequently food took a long time to arrive and wasn’t up to standard.
We both had a couple of glasses of wine which then set off acid reflux about an hour after I went to bed.
I coughed until I was very sick, then sat upright in bed sipping water until the early hours.
I feel rather “stretched “ this morning so another quiet day.
Going out is no longer the pleasure it used to be sadly.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a bright and breezy Co Armagh
My lovely cleaning lady is here to see what I haven’t been doing while she was away over the holidays !! She hasn’t rolled her eyes yet so things mustn’t be too bad !
Last night as I was going up the hall to bed I thought I’d poke my nose out to see what the weather was doing , and in the porch was my parcel . I had had an email to say it would be delivered between 8 am and 8 pm ! Goodness knows how long it had been there . Oh I know it was safe there , but surely the driver could have rung the doorbell !

Ziplok Sun 08-Jan-23 10:00:38

Good morning. Fine here so far, but the sky is looking a bit grey, so I think we might have rain soon but I hope not.
Quiet day ahead I think, just a few Christmas cloths to iron and put away the I think I’ll settle down with a book.
Hello Liberty.
Better go, I can here DH moving about, so better put the kettle on 😁.

monk08 Sun 08-Jan-23 09:53:38

Welcome Liberty 👋

Good morning all from an Angus coast where the sky is blue and the sun is peeping in and out between white clouds. The washing is ready to be hung out! The moon was brilliant again last night again - in fact I woke up at 4.20 thinking it was morning (but was very happy to go back to sleep for another four hours 😉.)
Marydoll I was so pleased to read that you at long last got some decent GP attention, it must be such a reassurance for you to feel that someone 'has your back'. Just take things easy so that you stop scaring your lovely man!
Urms what a lovely lady you are in the way you care for your SF. I hope he's now on the road back to fitness.
I hope the 10.30 service is not too much of an ordeal for you grandmattie. I'm sure folks will be saying how lovely it is to see you and how much they've missed you. You're such a brave lady.
And hello and welcome to you, Liberty.
Nothing exciting here today apart from hanging the washing out! I must also attack some tai chi paperwork - I keep putting it off, which is why it's always on my to-do list!
Have the best day you can everybody and remember the sun is always shining, even if it's behind black clouds x
