Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry at the moment here in brackley this morning.
Today another trip to Bicester on the bus , I have3 also taken advantage of the £2 single fare before the 0930 Bus Pass time a saving on the original route fare.
Then general tidy up and some shredding later.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a very wet East London. Not read posts yet , but thinking of all those not so well or feeling low I’m late this morning as I had a wakeful night.I have them less often now than I did since death of DH 3 years ago but this time of the year is still difficult. Lots to sort today paper admin, phone calls and more cupboard tidying. I had a long chat with my sister yesterday evening. They have just returned from dropping off one child back to uni in the south and the other to the airport back to Sweden where she is finishing her Masters! She was a bit sad as the kids had a major row over the holidays and parted on bad terms .
I hope they sort things out as they were very close when young .

Oops, just read that you’ve landed back, Shazza 😁. Well, I’m sure that you have had a great holiday 😁.

Ziplok Tue 10-Jan-23 11:38:53

A very late good morning to you all.
It’s a very wet and miserable one here today, quite a contrast to yesterday. I doubt that I will be going very far today, but instead get on with some indoor jobs once I’ve finished my coffee and perusing this thread.
Lovely orchid, ShazzaKanazza. It sounds as if you are having a great holiday.
Hope you had a nice birthday yesterday LauraNorder, with lots of special treats.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 10-Jan-23 11:20:25

We had an orchid garden in our hotel and I took these pics for you all xx

ShazzaKanazza Tue 10-Jan-23 10:51:24

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a rainy cold Hull. I’ve just got up so I’ll read later.
We had a very easy run through Madeira airport and the flight was excellent Manchester airport on the other hand was difficult. We had an hour long snaking queue to get through the e gates as half were broken. A lot of cases were in a pile on the floor next to the carousel one of ours included. We had two motorway closures so two long detours. The luggage is still in the car as we went straight to bed at 2-45 am. Today will be shopping and unpacking.

Tonight we are looking after our two GDs for a couple of hours while DD teaches her antenatal class. Son in law has gone back to sea after having a blissful year off living off their savings and spending time with the girls. He won’t be home until April so DD will need more support from us and her in laws who a great and only live around the corner from them.

Have a lovely day everyone. Thoughts to those feeling ill or stressed and upset today 🌻🌻

hollysteers Tue 10-Jan-23 10:50:56

Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest Lancashire coast.
A night without the dreaded cramp, so slept through.
Off to music club this afternoon so will have a warble before I go and see what shape the voice is in. I’m not in charge today but will help set up and clear away. Then pick up a few grocery items.
Thoughts to those with worries and what a darling Nannagarra!

Good morning all from Glasgow. Dreich and wet here at the moment. I don’t remember ever having such a wet January although I wouldn’t rely on my memory to recall many facts now but please, roll on spring.

Whilst in the pharmacy yesterday, I bumped into a friend of DD1, who lives in our area, Mark Cox, who is an actor and some may know him as the character Tam from Chewing the Fat. An enjoyable blether and he asked me to pass on his best regards to DH. Lovely man.

Fingers crossed the gel works well for your DSF Urms, he is having a rotten time of it as you will be too, with worry.
I hope you have enough stamina to make that curry later Grandmabatty, you will be in need of some sustenance after a busy day with the boys.

Best wishes to all for a good day and hopefully, an easier day for all with worries and struggling times.

hulahoop Tue 10-Jan-23 10:22:53

Very wet this morning & forecast for day need to go out to pick up parcel at local marks .Outcome from Drs is a referral for steroid injections no idea when that will be!
Good to hear you and sf had a good night Urms. 💐 to those feeling low for whatever reason.

Good morning everyone from a very wet and windy Northampton; I have no intention of setting out for a health walk this afternoon. I will use the time to ring the travel company about the refund for my cancelled holiday which I have not yet received. Also to find out why they have not yet sent the details/confirmation for my new holiday.

Anyway, I went ahead and had the vaccinations for my new holiday; the travel nurse was very good. I had to have Typhoid, Tetanus and the MMR vaccines. I expected Hepatitis A, but as I had one about 20 years ago that one is still valid. So, both arms duly jabbed I escaped to my Knit and Natter group, desperate for a coffee. Only to find when I got to the pub that no hot drinks were available due to a faulty coffee machine. Still managed to have a pleasant hour knitting and nattering!

Afterwards walked down to the M&S Food store and had a coffee and toasted bun in there. Had a bit of a mooch around the shops then headed home on the bus.

Need to get a casserole for tonight's dinner in the slow cooker, get some stuff ready for charity shop collection tomorrow, then see what the rest of the day has in store.

Wishing a good day to everyone.

Good morning everyone. Black skies, rain and wind here in Lancashire.

Taichinan Tue 10-Jan-23 09:27:57

What a gorgeous wee puppy Nannagarra!

GrannySomerset Tue 10-Jan-23 09:23:28

Pouring this morning but a supermarket shop is necessary so will have to be brave. Car computer keeps telling me there is something wrong with my headlights and the garage can’t deal with it till next week so I can only drive on fine days and in daylight till then. What a pain.

Glad there is better news from * Urmstongran* and hope things continue well though like her I suspect NHS procrastination which won’t be cheaper in the end. I wonder what the cost of a blood transfusion is?

Grammaretto Tue 10-Jan-23 09:10:12

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Cloudy but not wet
The big clear out at the art centre went well. I recommend a work party for putting smiles on faces. The roofers have taken responsibility for the flooding and once it's redecorated will be good as new well maybe not
I took 2 fleeces and a parachute to re-home.
A new person turned up who has recently moved here. She had been having a hard time feeling welcomed. I hope we will help her settle in.
I'm volunteering at the store this afternoon.
Your families are very lucky to have you Brook and grandmabatty. I remember the teacher's strikes in the 1980s. It was very tricky

Happy belated birthday Laura🎂
Monk I wonder why you can't be seen by your GP. Ours would at least phone back.

Keep safe everyone .

NannyJan53 Tue 10-Jan-23 09:08:58

Fingers all firmly crossed for you DSF Urms

dragonfly46 Tue 10-Jan-23 09:08:52

So pleased your DSF had a good night Urms.

Urmstongran Tue 10-Jan-23 09:06:34

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s chucking it down. Alexa says it’ll rain all day with a high 12°C. The little schoolchildren walking in with their colourful rainbow and tiger striped umbrellas look cute - their school bags are almost as big as they are.

Well, you could’ve knocked me down with a feather not to have been woken in the wee small hours by my stepfather having a nosebleed. Maybe the special gel that was squirted high up into his nostril will do the trick? He has of course had one or two nights without bleeding since Boxing Day, but never two consecutive nights, so tonight could be a game changer. Fingers crossed!

I’m late, we overslept. I suppose we must have needed it. Anxiety is so draining isn’t it? Thank you everybody for all your concerns about his well being. You are such a caring bunch of virtuals.
🥰

Right, I’ve been passed a second brew and I’m going to settle down to read all your posts - almost 50 by 9am! Wowzer.

Grandmachrisy47 Tue 10-Jan-23 09:06:21

Morning from a dark, wet Co Durham.
After a very thorough eye examination ocular migraine was the diagnosis. Dragonfly and Ekwanimitee were spot on.
I’ll go back and read your posts later, as I’m late up this morning. Hope Urms dsf and Marydoll are feeling better today.
Out for an early evening meal tonight at a local pub with a group of friends, we used to meet twice a month before covid and there were about 18 of us. We are reduced now to 9 and meeting only once a month.
Wishing all a good, stressless day.

EkwaNimitee Tue 10-Jan-23 09:03:13

Good morning Mick and everyone from windy, very rainy and still dark Carlisle, where the sun has risen in theory!
Naturally, a garden centre visit planned some days ago is postponed. I shall be having a clean of bathrooms and kitchen followed by some boring admin. I've just realised I need to get a GHIC now that I can't use the european one. Whether I'll manage to get one in time is another matter.
After finishing the last of a novel series-7 very thick books-I shall also be playing catch up on some magazines and hopefully brushing up my rusty Spanish which used to be rather fluent once when we spent all our winters out there.

Better luck tomorrow monk, it's so frustrating for you and so difficult for anyone to get a same day appointment I think. I tend to use e-consult but that doesn't get you a same day or even same week appointment.

Have the best possible day, all. Lucky you if you actually see some sun!

baubles Tue 10-Jan-23 08:59:39

Good morning all from soggy South Lanarkshire.

Good to hear that you’re recovering so well Ash, I still tire very quickly seven months after my surgery.

Today will be spent doing laundry, my own and also a couple of items from my charity shop. We had a couple of donations of padded coats which are lovely except for some make up stains on the high collars so I’ll run the through the wash and hopefully get rid of the marks as we can’t sell them like that.

Other than that I’ll have to think about food and what we will eat for the next few days, I’ve definitely lost my cooking mojo.

Wishing everyone the best day possible, especially all the poorly people.

NannyJan53 Tue 10-Jan-23 08:58:20

Good morning from a very wet and dark Black Country. I didn't wake up till 8am!

Gym this morning, then Doctors appointment this afternoon.

That really not acceptable Monk. At my surgery at least, once you get through to the receptionist she arranges for the Doctor to ring you back that day, who then decides if you need a face to face appointment. Mind you last time I rang I was in the queue for 2 hours!, but the Doctor did ring me back later that morning.

Susan56 I am waiting for an appointment for my Mum for the Memory Clinic. I really think lockdown started her memory loss, or at least accelerated it.

Take care everyone.

SunshineSally Tue 10-Jan-23 08:53:47

I’m back - with cappuccino in hand and reading through the posts.
Nannagarra the puppy is gorgeous 🥰
grandMattie it’s sad when groups we used to enjoy going to are no longer the same. Hopefully when you move you’ll find some better groups with friendlier and like minded people. If you know the area you want to move to then start putting out feelers … Google the area and see what’s on offer.
Ashcombe so wonderful that you’re feeling so much better now. When you’re struggled with health before, feeling well does make you much more appreciative and grateful.
Bluebalou I feel cross for you that you’re husband doesn’t share the housework-that’s so unfair and selfish. I too like a clean house.
Happy Birthday for yesterday LauraNorderr
Kitty I hope your GP appointment re CT scan goes well.
Sar53 I do hope your DH’s appointment with the plastic surgeon goes as well as it can. Such a worrying and scary time for you both x
Urms thinking of you and your DSF.
Marydoll I hope you have a good day today. Don’t overdo things x

Taichinan Tue 10-Jan-23 08:53:45

Good morning all. Goodness it's dark and gloomy and wet here on the Angus coast. After a few days of beautiful spring-like weather, you take badly with a day like this! Normal service has been resumed.
I really enjoyed yesterday, having had a really productive tai chi meeting. After it, six of us went into town and had 'coffee and sticky buns' and a good laugh and chin wag. A definitely feel-good morning.
I haven't read any posts yet, so can't comment but I hope all is as well as possible, Shazza has returned home safely and the poorly have one of their better days today x

luluaugust Tue 10-Jan-23 08:49:51

Good morning from a wet and windy W Kent. Off to see DF for coffee this morning, I am looking forward to seeing her as she has been ill with Covid which led to pneumonia, she had refused the last vaccine due to something she had read and ended up in hospital. This afternoon DH and I are going to a new U3A, due to GC care it is difficult to get to our usual meeting now.
Best wishes to all.

Gingster Tue 10-Jan-23 08:45:10

Good morning all and it’s a dreary one.

Yesterday the washing machine was fixed. At long last!

On the way home from Chimes , I popped into the hairdressers on the spur of the moment and had a hair cut. Quite short as I was fed up with my usual style. Oh well it grows quickly 😂.

Today I’m meeting my two old school friends at the Olympic park, Stratford. For coffee and a wander and then lunch. The weather isn’t going to be good enough for a walk around the park, so lunch will be a long un! 😉.

Fingers crossed the trains are ok 🤞.

Sar I hope your DH’s appointment goes well and also that you’re feeling better today.

Ash you’re recovering so well. Don’t overdo it though!

Urms hope sf is getting treatment 🙏.

Best wishes to all

Greyduster Tue 10-Jan-23 08:38:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is persisting down, grey and cold in South Yorkshire this morning. No walk out today then☹️! I made scones in my air fryer oven yesterday. They were the lightest I’ve ever made. Trouble is, when you make ‘em, you’ve got to eat ‘em! Not sure what today will bring. I have my six week telephone appointment with the physiotherapy team at the hospital this afternoon; a few little niggles to run past them but hopefully they will say I can try and prise myself back into my car soon!
Have the best day you can folks.
