Hi Cabbie I add myself to those who are awake and offering support. I was in your position last year and the wee small hours can feel long and lonely. 🤝

Hello Cabbie, I’m sending a hug and hoping everything goes well for your DH.
Those hours in the middle of the night are so long and lonely aren’t they?
I’m awake for no obvious reason although it is lashing down with rain and very windy. I’m somewhat deaf so I don’t usually get disturbed by noises at night unless it’s really loud.
I hope you get some rest, as difficult as that is in a hospital setting x

Awake and just saw your message, Cabbie.
My thoughts are with you and your DH. It sounds like you’ve had such a scary night and I’m so glad to read that DH’s son is on his way.
Take care x

Yes Cs783 it is very weird.
Tommo, thanks for the encouragement..

I’ve had a couple of those. Still here. Not that it’s any comfort.
People look their worst in a hospital bed.
My loving wife stayed with me both times but she insists that if there is a next time she wants to know where my passwords are written down. She’s a big comfort.

Thanks for the detail Cabbie. It must be so weird sitting there but you know your husband is getting the care he needs.

Thank you all for your kind words. Much appreciated.
I am ok. I am a very calm person. He is in very good hands, the staff are excellent, but there is so much going on all the time.
DH has had angina for 15+ years but has not been too good recently, so I am not exactly surprised. He felt bad from lunchtime but did not say until 5 30 pm. We rang 999, two hours later the first responders came and stayed till the ambulance arrived , total 3 hours. They broke their strike to come. Everyone was lovely. Straight to cardiac unit, no waiting. They planned to put a stent in but later said it was too blocked, no surgery possible, but meds will help,. DH’s son is travelling down. My family are local and very supportive.

Oh and now others have written too 💗

Yes and now with you in thought Cabbie21. Share with us if you can and want or just chat if it helps.

My dad used to say (I later discovered it’s a line from John Milton)
‘They also serve who only sit and wait’

Hasn’t veejay written from her heart for you, so kind.

Hi Cabbie.
I very rarely write on this site, as I am Polish, and not too literate with your beautiful language.
However, I was merely browsing Gransnet, as I could not get tired enough to go to bed!!!!
Anyway, I read your post and I did not want to ignore.
I am so very sorry to learn, that you are meantime at your Husband's bedside, with your head and heart so full of worry and concern.
Perhaps you will receive wise words of encouragement from your friends here, very soon. I hope so.
If you accept may I offer my hand to hold? That is all I have to give Cabbie, as English is not my first language, and I do not have the vocabulary to comfort you.
Please know though, that I will hold you and your husband in my thoughts through the long night, and that I will send up a prayer for you both. This will of course be in Polish but perhaps it will still be valid!!!!!
All my very good wishes to you.
You will be strong enough to cope, Cabbie.
Agnieszka. xxx

I am still awake worried about our DD who has been ill this last twelve months she is getting better but I can’t stop worrying.

I am so sorry about your DH you must be overwhelmed with worry. You need to rest if you can to get over the shock while you are there at his side. He is in the best care and will be comforted as he will know you are at his side.

I am awake.so sorry this has happened to your husband .
Will you stay with him.I expect you are allowed to
If you don't mind me asking how old is he? Is this the first time it has happened ?
I don't really know what to say except I hope and pray for you that he recovers .
I have no experience of being in this situation
I can only imagine what you must be going the through
My son had a stroke in September and that was bad enough.the worry and stress of waiting to see how bad it was .
Luckily he wasn't as bad as could have been only speech affected
I don't know how I would have coped in your situation

What have the Drs said? Apart from the next 34 hrs.have they given you any indication as to what could have caused it.
Did he have heart problems.or was it just out of the blue
I hope someone else will will be awake and talk to you.
I'm sure it will help rather than letting all sorts of thoughts go through your mind
I'm sorry i m not much help.not having gone through anything like this.
I am sure the Drs will do all they can
Also pleased you have managed to get to a hospital as things are at the moment with the strikes etc

Cabbie21 Thu 12-Jan-23 01:21:53

I am sitting by my husband’s bedside in hospital as he has had a heart attack. Next 24 hours are critical.
