Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, and its been raining here in brackley as well.
Yesterdays Hospital visit was OK , I get impression an operation will be done in next few months , but will have a stomach scan first .
I will not be going on my trip to Harrogate in March due to the above , I have only paid the deposit so no great loss .
The trip to the JR had its hiccups , the bus I got on which goes direct did not start ,so i got a bus into Summertown north Oxford ,and caught a bus from to the JR , at least I did not have to walk up the hill to the main entrance.
Take Care,
Mick

Yesterday’s lunch out didn’t happen because at the end of the morning it was impossible to get out of the village without driving through flood water. All gone now, at least for the present.

Off to collect new blood pressure pills from the surgery in the hope that they will be more successful than the last lot. Of no consequence compared with what so many on here are coping with.

Hello all from a sunny Hampshire. I'm spending the day thinking how can my youngest son be 40 today?

Taichinan Fri 13-Jan-23 13:03:31

Taichinan Fri 13-Jan-23 13:01:56

Urms that's exactly what I was thinking!! Thanks for the giggle x

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Urmstongran Fri 13-Jan-23 11:01:50

^ I bought breaded haddock, which was lovely, and I have fish cakes for tonight's tea. Oh, and they make their own Cullen skink so I had a pot of that for lunch yesterday.^.

Taichinan you’ll be growing gills next! 😁

Good morning,
Seems as if the strong wind has been pretty widespread. It was certainly rattling around here last night and still doing so. It’s brought a few trees down nearby, too.
Poor Marydoll, you really are having it tough. I hope that those meds turn up earlier than they predict. 💐. On top of that, you have the ceiling issue to contend with, which is upsetting enough on its own.
Mick, glad you’ve heard that your op shouldn’t be too far off, but sorry that it affects one of your trips. Under the circumstances, might the travel company either return your deposit or allow you to reschedule and transfer your deposit once things have settled down again?
I don’t think the weather knows what to do today, it’s still blustery as I’ve said, but now the sun is shining after a brief shower.
Hugs to all of you with troubles.

dragonfly46 Fri 13-Jan-23 10:32:41

Baubles it is indeed a problem buying houses at the moment. My DD married when she was 39 and already owned a flat. She was able to sell that for a deposit and as they are both high earners could get an exorbitant mortgage which is not sustainable so will now sell the house they were in.
Even in their position they were often pipped at the post.
They even had an offer accepted on a house which was later found to be on a confiscation order from the courts and that fell through!!

ShazzaKanazza Fri 13-Jan-23 10:32:33

You have had it so rough Marydoll it is scaring me so much what’s going on with the NHS. I worry so much. 😢
My thoughts and huge hugs are on their way to you and to others who need them right now💐xx

Gala Fri 13-Jan-23 10:01:50

Good morning from a damp & drizzly Sefton.
Well that's my Zoom dance/aerobics class done this morning. Bit of a late start for me (again) thank goodness I only have to throw some clothes on & get downstairs.
We had no plans for today but have had a last minute request for a bit of child minding at lunchtime. GD1 has had chicken pox, was due back at school but mum has been asked to keep her off til Monday as there is now scarlet fever in her class.
Will now settle down with a coffee & catch up with everyone.
((Hugs)) to those of you with worries & struggles & anyone who may need one. May you all have the best day you can.

Good morning s somerset was horribly windy and that wind was very loud all night. Hence me waking feeling lethargic

So I didn`t know what to put in an earlier post and deleted the few lines. Thankfully the day is evolving and right now is sunny. Washing will be outside shortly, after a long time of not being able to do so, it is still windy but it will dry fast

I shall walk around town later, I always pass people who like a `good morning` from me and they respond.

There is a job to do, one of those marie- kondo-type positive sorts. My socks of all lengths and tights that never really wear out. They take up too much space and I want to wear my new snag tights instead. Sorting and chucking out later.

I hope the sun is shining upon you too

SusieB50 Fri 13-Jan-23 09:57:08

Good morning to all from East London. After a dreadful windy night the sun is shining but sure it won’t last long !
Yesterday I went for my gym on prescription class , the girl in charge is very nice and tells you how to use what equipment and checks that you are doing OK , and goes round about 10 people, but a new lady started yesterday and thought she would have 1-1 and was disappointed. It’s a reduced rate (£12 for 12 sessions) so not sure what she was expecting! It certainly seems to be improving my muscle strength but not easing the pain in my other hip sadly. DD coming for the night tomorrow with 2 GDC , and DS has decided that he and family will all come too in the evening for a takeaway. I’ll do dinner for the kiddies as the smaller ones don’t like a curry . I’m sure the older twins will have two meals as they are bottomless pits at the moment !
Dentist today ( Friday 13th😱) all seems OK but haven’t had a check up for over a year as they don’t send reminders anymore apparently. Wishing all those poorly or troubled a peaceful day.

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 13-Jan-23 09:56:18

Good Morning all from windy Harrogate.I'm disappointed you are not going to make it to Harrogate Mick, hopefully another time. It's more important you get yourself sorted out. Oh Marydoll falling ceilings are my worst nightmare. When we were first married we lived in a rented flat while looking for a house. I was peeling carrots over at the sink, when something hit my head - yes, it was the ceiling falling down - the carrot I found the other side of the room, fortunately I had a good grip on the knife and was still holding it!
Yesterday met up with the Harrogate Respiratory group which meets monthly to gives support to those with respiratory problems. in the afternoon I had my shopping delivered. Today I shall be getting a wash on, then making a welcome cup of coffee. My DGD was supposed to be here after school, but DD phoned to say she had been throwing up from midnight to 5 am, so wouldn't be round. My poor DD sounded really weary!
Have the best day possible folks.

Good Morning from a dry, overcast, extremely windy N., Cambs.,

Urmstongran, I'm pleased your stepfather is feeling better.
Have a safe journey & a well earned break in your "other" happy place!

Sorry that you are so poorly, Marydoll. I hope you have a comfortable day. You could certainly have done without the trauma of your heating/plumbing/kitchen ceiling issues, for sure.

Take care folks.

Auntieflo Fri 13-Jan-23 09:47:29

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. The sun is shining, but anyone's guess as to how long.
My heart sank when I realised it was Friday 13th, my mum never acknowledged it and kept the perpetual calendar at Thursday 12th, until Saturday morning.
Sending hugs to Marydoll.
Had a phone day yesterday, trying, but getting nowhere with the Dr's surgery. I haven't seen a Dr at our surgery for a couple of years, and wanted a Face to Face, to discuss blood test results, as suggested by my oncologist. But it seems that you cannot book a forward appointment. Ring at 8 am or 2 pm and possibly get one for that day. It is not urgent, but no way would they budge.
Then rang my school friend. We have known each other for 70 years now, and lovely to catch up. As soon as I put the phone down, my old work colleague called, so had another great chat.
My bones have started hurting/aching in various places, and I know it is probably due to my cancer, but the one in my wrist I could do without.
Later this morning we will go and have coffee with friends, then do some shopping. Tomorrow GS and partner will visit and bring food for lunch. Great.
So nice to see all the familiar names being mentioned upthread, and yes, they are all missed. Hope they are doing well.
Have a good day one and all

baubles Fri 13-Jan-23 09:35:05

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

I hope you get a date for your surgery soon Mick.

So many grans have serious worries, be it their own health or that of a family member, I send fond good wishes to you all including Marydoll and my good friend Baggs.

Thinking of you too Grandmabatty. There are so many more, I’m sorry not to mention everyone.

DDoutL and I had a nice lunch out together yesterday whilst DH and DS wielded paint rollers. They thought they were going to put their place in the market but now there’s no immediate rush as yet again they didn’t get the house they’d offered on, despite theirs being the highest offer. It’s so frustrating for them, they’ve been house hunting for a year but have always been outbid, now it seems it’s not enough to be the highest bidder, the successful people were ready to move immediately. Catch 22 situation, sell first and possibly have nowhere to live, or offer on a property and hope the vendor can wait.

Anyhoo, today I have no plans so will see what the day brings.

Wishing everyone the best possible day.

mumofmadboys Fri 13-Jan-23 09:29:33

Hope you soon feel a bit better Marydoll. Not helped at all by ceilings coming down!

Greyduster Fri 13-Jan-23 09:24:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is trying hard in South Yorkshire but it’s touch and go. I slept in this morning - the wind was doing its best to empty a skip along the road and large plastic containers were blowing about. Then I rolled over onto my new hip and the pain woke me up. It don’t like it! DD is coming over today to do a couple of jobs, take me shopping and we’ll have coffee at a nearby garden centre. I cleaned all the floors yesterday so there won’t be a lot for her to do. I suppose I’ll get told off!
Alygran enjoy your walk - I haven’t been to Saltburn for years. I’m told it’s a little jewel now.
Have the best day you can folks. I’ve just noticed it’s Friday 13th😱!

Taichinan Fri 13-Jan-23 09:13:58

Good morning Mick and all. The sun is just over the horizon on the Angus coast and it looks to be a nice day. Washing out I think.
I was told a new fish shop had opened up in town so paid it a visit after tai chi yesterday. It is really good and the owners are so enthusiastic and friendly. I do hope they manage to make a go of it. I bought breaded haddock, which was lovely, and I have fish cakes for tonight's tea. Oh, and they make their own Cullen skink so I had a pot of that for lunch yesterday.
Today I must call the Handiman and hope he can resolve the leak which has appeared under the kitchen sink - he's a fraction of the cost of a plumber and I'm told he's very good and can turn his hand to anything 🤞.
I was sad to read yesterday if how poorly you have been Marydoll - and those holes in your ceiling are definitely not what the doctor ordered. I hope your meds are sorted pdq and you begin to feel more like yourself again soon.
Thinking of all the others with not the best of health too, and hope you have a better day. Enjoy all your doings everybody, and enjoy your visit back to your other home Urms - so glad your Stepfather is on the mend. Take care everyone x

luluaugust Fri 13-Jan-23 09:13:37

Good morning from a sunny, very blowy W Kent. Off to the local farm shop this morning for sausages as I am feeding two GC this evening. I know an apple crumble will be hoped for, so that should keep me occupied enough for today.
Marydoll what a situation to be re the tablets, my DH had similar problems with supplies a couple of months ago.
Very best wishes to all under the weather or worrying about a problem.

aggie Fri 13-Jan-23 09:13:17

Good morning from Co Armagh where all is comparatively quiet after a tumultuous night , things had been put away or tied down so no apparent damage
I popped out in my bare feet with the robins oats , he hopped about screaming at me to get on with it !
Anyway it’s not icy
I’m off to painting class shortly , it’s great to get back to a sort of normality
Wishing all our poorly people a better day , and elusive medication sorted , no candelabra in our nearly refurbished chapel , but prayers are being freely sent to those who need them

dustyangel Fri 13-Jan-23 09:12:36

Oh Marydoll I wish I could give you a big hug. A timely reminder that it’s only enjoyable lying in bed if it’s your own choice. 💐

Grandmadinosaur Fri 13-Jan-23 09:06:46

I’ve very fond memories of spending time in Saltburn as a child Alygran I had relatives who lived not too far away and my dear grandparents took me every summer. Happy days. Enjoy your day there.
