Good Morning Sunday 15th January 2023

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and dry. The forecast is to be much colder with snow flurries. Urms Malaga sounds so much nicer than here! Marydoll one of my abiding memories is, as a student I took part in research into new flavours of creme eggs. It was wonderful! Grandmadinosaur a new restaurant,close to home and good is a rare find indeed. Discoqueen I'm sorry to hear that you are unwell. I hope things improve quickly.
Yesterday I picked up my prescription in the morning, then did some chores. In the afternoon I visited my friend. She has an infection and is on antibiotics. Another friend was just leaving and yet another arrived (planned) at the same time as me. My poor friend looks ghastly. Her colour wasn't good and she's so thin, it's quite upsetting.
Today I have a little ironing to do. Dd said she'll pop in later with the boys for a visit so I'll look forward to seeing them. I'm putting mince in the slow cooker to bubble away all day and later I'll add dumplings. My Irish granny always called them 'doughboys'. Are they still called that Aggie? Have a good day all.

Good morning from a blustery but now dry Oxfordshire, we have a blue sky, but MrOops has just fed the birds and he says it’s a bit nippy.
Just a Sunday roast to do today and a bit of ironing, MissOops will be here with dog, I’ll plate up a meal for Nephew who I doubt will come out of their house. But who knows, we live in hope that ‘today will be a good day’ usually a question of hope over experience.

It is not surprising your stepfather feels tired Urms. It will take a while for the Vitamin B to kick in and he has been through the mill recently. I too wake up tired but put it down to the weather!

Good morning from a dry and windy Suffolk. Not much on our agenda today apart from likely visit from DS who likes to ‘drop in’ regularly just to keep an eye on us and I suspect report to his sisters! Not that there is any need to do so as far as I can see but it’s always lovely to see him even though he is an hour’s drive away.

I’ve watched with interest over the years as the roles are gradually changing. Whereas we always used to ask the children to phone when they got to wherever they were going,they now ask us to let them know when we have arrived safely if we are travelling anywhere even quite locally.

Apart from reading the paper and more of my book,I won’t be doing much today. DH always cooks Sunday dinner so today is a roast chicken etc.

Hope those with worries have a less stressful day and all find something to smile about.

Good morning from Glasgow. The wind has dropped, the rain has stopped and we are promised some sunshine today. At last and I feel quite a bit more chirpier today.

As the weather was dreadful yesterday, I postponed my Waitrose visit and we had a lazy day at home and watched a lovely film, The Artist’s Wife with Bruce Dern and Lena Olin. Waitrose today then and thankfully I won’t be soaked through. A short walk for some fresh air and excercise is long overdue and on the plan for us at some point today. DH has had many broken nights for weeks and sleeping for hours during the day. I requested sleeping tablets from our GP last week, one at bedtime for a full nights sleep, he now looks well rested and his energy levels have really picked up for the first time since his OP last July. A less worrisome time imagining the worst for both of us. Onwards and sideways again. Phew!

Wishing a good day for all, much love and hugs for those who are having worrying times or this dreadful lurgy which is affecting so many.

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. Damp on the ground but the weather is dry if that makes sense.

Yesterday we had a coffee out and then DH dropped me and I had a browse at a small place not too far away. A bit thwarted in my aims as the cafe I like there was only doing take outs. I was after a light lunch. One of the shops I like was also closed for lunch. Still it was a change of scene. In the evening we went out for a meal at a recently opened local Italian restaurant. It was superb in every way. Delicious food,nice buzzy atmosphere ,friendly staff,reasonable prices. Best of all only five minute walk from home. Will return for sure.

A go with the flow today. DH still asleep.

I hope church is a little easier today GM.

Enjoy those creme eggs MD I noticed in Morrisons they have brought out a white chocolate version.

Just getting my things together for a coach day trip to the Lake District. Flask, hat, books etc. Even if not great weather wise, it’s a change. It means I will miss the folk club I started going to last week, but there you go…

Good morning, I don’t know what it’s doing outside, I haven’t looked!
Yesterday I didn’t do much other than washing and cleaning, today I will sort out my wardrobes and fill bags for the charity shop.
I also need to look out my die cutting bits, tomorrow a friend and I are planning card making for the craft group.
I had my hair chopped on Friday, very happy with the results but I keep catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror- it’s taking a while to get used to it being 4 or 5 inches shorter!
I hope today goes well for you all x

Today we have aa M&S collection and we have to draw a plan of the kitchen as a first step in having it refitted.

Roast chicken for lunch with sprouts roasted with bacon and maple syrup, carrots, stuffing and DH's roast potatoes.

DD appeared with flowers and six Cadbury's creme eggs. I thought you would prefer that, to a cake, she said.
She was right, I may have no appetite, but managed to force one down. 😁

Morning all from West Oxfordshire, it sounds windy outside. Church this morning and a quiet day I think. Reading the paper and knitting. My hips and legs ache a bit this morning. I did a lot of walking yesterday around the V&A! I’m making Queen of Puddings today - something I haven’t made for ages. To be served with lashings of cream of course! Have a peaceful Sunday.

I joined the Gaelic café yesterday and asked for orders in Gaelic. I must have confused the staff because hardly anyone had what they had ordered! .

Some teenagers were making a horror film in my house when I got home planned They seemed suitably excited.

Tonight the community cinema is showing the Lost King . Otherwise a quiet day and perhaps a walk or a visit to DMiL

Good morning from a wet and windy Torbay.

Yesterday, DH had a good time lunching with his model railway chums in London for which the long distance trains were fine but not so the Tube, due to closures for maintenance. Luckily, he picked up a cab being driven by a chap who knew the location of a rather obscure pub in which they met. I was invited to go but I can only smile politely for so long ….!

Instead, I attended our monthly church coffee morning which always proves to be socially interesting. Many locals turn up as it’s open to all and a few bring their dogs so it’s a chance for them to meet each other!!

My DD2 was 44 yesterday so we enjoyed the chance to catch up on the phone. She was born in the Winter of 1979, when the snow lingered for several weeks and there were shortages of salt, petrol, etc due to delivery drivers being on strike.

Church this morning - I’m sure each time you attend that late service, grandMattie, it will become less painful. Thinking of you and others facing challenges.

I’m glad you’re safely in Málaga, Urmstongran and you can relax knowing DSF is better. Enjoy the sunshine! ☀️

good morning from soggy, windy s somerset. I too was wakeful through the night, the wind was so noisy. I think, cornergran, it is because we are programmed to wake at a whimper from a baby.

Yesterday was good, a nice fire lit in my stove and the living room has remained warm all night. I did a whole chest of drawers and a quick skim and sort in my wardrobe. I used to have one chest of drawers, when we were two. Now I fill two chests of drawers and a whole wardrobe.

Then I crafted for the rest of the day and started two items of knitting, a slow-knit jumper for next winter and woollen slipper socks

I need to wait for the fire ash to cool, then I will clean and start it again. The ash pan is shallow but I use a special safe container for carrying

Good morning everyone from Málaga whereas pitch black. It’s easy to be one of the ‘early birds’ out here as obviously we’re an hour ahead over here, although technically we should be the same as Portugal & the UK. Apparently Franco wanted to align himself with Germany back in the day so the hour got moved on. Debate here has surfaced every now and again about whether to move it back to where it was. Anyway, whatever, sunrise isn’t until 8:29am. I’ve just Googled it.

When I’m over here it takes me a day to get my act together. When I wake the window is to my right, whereas at home it’s on my left. It throws me every time when I have my first night’s sleep and wake intermittently!

We had a delicious meal at Juan’s last night which I made sure included fried & salted padron peppers because I love them and only eat them when I’m over here. Tonight it’s tge big final of Barcelona -v- Real Madrid so we’ll go into Pedro’s. It’s more of a bar & Himself likes to soak up the atmosphere when it’s football! It will be Very Noisy. The Spanish are super emotional - they gesticulate a lot. I used to think people were arguing when they were merely being expressive and enforcing a point during discussion. They are very passionate. It must be the heat ...

When we stepped of the plane, 5pm time here, the warmth enveloped us and it was still so light until 6:30pm. I do love it here which is why I call it my ‘happy place’. But for lovely ties to our family I might well have chosen to retire here like my sister has done.

Finally, then I’ll shut up and let someone get a word in edgeways, my stepfather is fine. I rang him from the airport and again once we were here. The district nurse had been and although he’s still saying he’s tired even after a good night’s sleep (which to share, is beginning to concern me - is there an underlying cause) he’s okay.

Right, I promise not to witter on like this again while I’m here. I must learn ‘less is more’ sometimes! Oh, goody - I’m ready for a second brew and Himself has just got up.

Morning Mick, morning All from a windy and very wet corner of Somerset.

I’ve been listening to the wind and rain for most of the night. No idea why I couldn’t sleep, just the way it was. Mr C on the other hand never has difficulty sleeping. Lucky man.

Quiet day yesterday saw the only productive thing being the sorting of glitches with Mr C’s Kindle and phone, the success feeling like a major triumph.

Another quiet one today other than some laundry and photo organising for me. Mr C has a model to build so will be happy enough.

Good luck tomorrow mick, hope you find church less emotional grandmattie. I’ll not be in tomorrow morning as we’ll be off unreasonably early to meet our son for a foray over the bridge to begin to sort our friends shed.

I was woken up by DS from India sending me a photo of the helicopter in which their billionaire donor came to visit.
I am trying to finish quilt I started ages ago, which I lost heart making. It will go to Philip’s ex-partner who is a lovely woman.
Church this morning; I’ll go to the later service again, see how it goes.
Nothing much else.
Hope the travellers arrived safely, the poorly are feeling better, and all celebrations go well.
