Today is apparently the most depressing day of the year.
I have quite a nice day planned, we are having work done on the top floor of our house so I’m looking forward to choosing paint colours and new accessories.
We are also having a TV put in our living room, we have resisted but an open fire in there means we can spend cosy evenings in front of a TV instead of shivering in our not so snug snug!
Our fuel bills are astronomical and we have to address this.
How are you feeling on “Blue Monday” are you doing something nice?
Just wonderful! Plumber is back from holiday and called in to fix my leaky pipe. Does life get better than this? Hallelujah!
Still smiling even though we have a PCC meeting this evening, because we had such a lovely day yesterday
.
Been ill now for 4 weeks and getting to me. First week below par. Rallied for a couple of days. Flu. Then throat infection so antibiotics. Few days of feeling OK. Now painful glands in throat etc again. Been unable to do much and contemplating getting a temporary cleaner.
Good. Been away for the weekend. Sun is shining.
We are good here, Shingles jab for me earlier and MrOops has moved 25 boxes out of the house, at last.
So tomorrow a good clean through, but for now a film on TV, except I think the dog wants to go out, so the film will have to wait.
Scary storm Monica let’s hope you can get out and about.
It’s a lovely sunny day here, a perfect day for a nice brisk walk but unfortunately I’m stuck indoors as am having various goods ordered online (hopefully) delivered today.
First two lots have arrived via my regular postie, such a nice man, we always have a wee chat. One lot was three tea-towels, different designs, and I admit only bought because they were reduced. But I love all three of them, especially the gnome one so I’m a very happy woman.
Hello all. Blue is my favourite colour. The sun is shining here. I am eating a home made scone from the recipe I found on this site, yummy! I always look forward to Tues/Thurs when hubbie and I do the afternoon school run for 5yr old GS who makes us laugh so much.I feel for you if your life at the moment isn't too good. I've been up,down and all other directions over the years, but finally all is well.
I am currently staying with my Mum who is convalescing after a nasty tummy bug. She was really poorly over Christmas and is regaining some strength very slowly.
Yesterday evening she went to the kitchen and washed her water glass up - the first move towards any kind of independent living she has made in a month.
Today she woke in a good mood and has been quite chatty, so I'm hopeful that, finally, she is on the mend.
Long way to go but moving forward in baby steps, and a tiny glimmer of hope that I might be able to go home to see my much missed OH and the garden before all the Spring flowers are over.
A good day here!
All's well here too - a busy day with my toddler grandson - been to the library for bounce and rhyme and will be taking him home shortly. He's a total joy and so funny - even though his mummy says he's being a 'threenager' at the moment!!!!
I've just collected my car back from its MOT so I'm glad to have got it back. Expensive work was needed but hey, ho.
I suspect I should really go out food shopping but I can't be bothered as I've not been eating properly due to feeling unwell. I'm well stocked up so I won't starve.
It's bright and damn cold but I'm not particularly depressed. I'm just muddling along as usual.
I can't say I ever feel "Blue" as I'm usually a happy little soul. Nothing much gets me down. I've been putting up with ever increasing pain for around 4 years now but feeling "Blue" won't make it any better so I just accept it.
I'm ecstatic because DD2 has had a scan this morning and I am now allowed to tell everyone that I'm going to be a granny for the 4th time in the Summer.
Congratulations Pitt👏. Well my day started badly but got better. Severe lack of sleep, half a duvet day, a flurry of snow - and then the sun came out so I got a short freezing walk in. Then I made a cake and tried not to look at the Smart monitor telling me that it was the most expensive cake in the history of cakes! Do I care? No! At the moment I’m watching the horizon turn a beautiful shade of pink as the sun goes down. “Red sky at night……”
Congratulations Pittcity lovely news
What lovely news Pittcity many congratulations to you and your daughter.
Congratulations * pittcity*
Busy day today and a lot of time making our outside classroom lovely so happy but very very cold and can't warm up again
Brrr
Well my happy didn’t last long, couldn’t cancel gym membership as I apparently signed up for a year😡
I’m not blue at all, but thank you for asking. 😊
We’re over in Málaga and the blue skies and warmth are just what the doctor ordered.
Oh many congratulations Pittcity! What a fantastic start to your year! 👶
Commiserations to all who do feel down though. I hope the slightly lengthening days and brighter skies soon will be enough to lift your spirits.
Not blue at all. I’ve just retreated to the other front room/spare bedroom/study, where the washing is drying and it’s so much more peaceful than the sitting room where DH is watching a very LOUD film. Much better company here.
*M0nica” I hope not too much damage has been done by the storm.
Not too bad a day really. Didn't do.kuch apart from chores and try to avoid DH who has a disgusting cold. Not sure which is worst, the extra loud sudden foghorn coughs, the disgusting phlegmy ones or the falsetto coughs. I'm not one of life's nurses. 😑
dustyangel No, we seem to have got off without damage, other than the telephone lines being brought down when a tree beside our access lane blew over into the field rather than across the road, but 70,000 people are without power and we saw a number of trees down when we drove to our local town this afternoon. But we had winds up to 70 miles an hour and when those gusts hit our house, the noise they made had me trying to wrap my duvet round my head to block out the sound.
In a similar storm 20 years ago, we had tiles off the roof, a chimney blown down and part of an outbuilding collapsed, so I have reasons for worrying when these storms come over.
We love the rooms with open fireplaces. Well done you.
Monday turned nice, made a new recipe for tea.
Great food, fireplace crackling, cozy!
Ooh Pittcity…..congratulations!
I can relate to this, our very first is due in just a few short months.
My day has been okay, a brisk walk, on one part of 5he coast it was so loud ( the sea) my poor dog was not happy and kept trying to take me back or detour. It was fine though as we turned in a bit.
