Go to your local magistrate court.

I spent three hours there this morning. The first 4 cases didn’t happen as the defendant was ill or couldn’t get there (we have had 8” of snow in the last 24 hours).

The next case it was very obvious that the prosecutor hadn’t read the file and was asking one question then reading up for the next question.

Then came the case I was interested in and I had to wake up. After all that one witness was called then the magistrate said ‘no case to answer’.

At least it was warm 😁

Oh dear what a waste of a morning. As you've said it saved on the heating.

Just nosey - are you a Solicitor ?

It's a waste of time for you, but also a waste of money that could have been spent on legal aid.

I know these things aren't really as simple as that; but the legal system is under such strain, with barristers underpaid and many people unable to afford justice. It seems so wrong for people not to turn up or for officials to be unprepared.

I see that you were interested in a case so not involved in one.

I've often thought of going in the public gallery to watch the law being done so to speak...

No, went to support my friend who was a main witness. He was very stressed and then angry that he couldn’t have his say.
