Happy 40th birthday to your DD BlueSapphire I’m sure your day will be full of memories. 🎉

Kitty pleased your DH is ok. Much relief for you both.

GrannyGravy hope your DD can feel better soon it sounds like she is having an awful time 💐

My first bowel screening kit has just dropped on the mat! I’d better have a read. I’ve told my two best friends who also turn 60 what’s in store for them later this year. 🌻

Good Morning from a sunny and frosty S. Yorks.

After a very busy day yesterday including a Zoom on local MH provision - very good one, with the Shadow Minister for MH present - and the gym, not going out today - slept an unheard of 9 hours and have to pack to drive north to family tomorrow - that is, all being well weather wise on the M1. I'm a confident driver - but won't "do" ice or snow.

I haven't seen them (DS, DiL, 4 grandchildren under 10), since early December and its my birthday tomorrow so all very special.

whitewave ouch, an awfully big job there. Glad you have a date, Mick, and bests with your eye, Susan. Poor DD, GrannyGravy13 hoping anti-b’s kick in soon.

Good morning from a frosty Co Armagh, no more snow and the light covering seems to have shrivelled.
Good to see you moving forward grandMatie , it will take a while , things move so slowly
Tried to ring our Solicitor yesterday but unobtainable, so txt instead , answer from foreign parts . No doubt he will return eventually
I’m still trying to finishe the baby blanket/shawl/throw. Better stop reading posts and get hooking !
Great to hear Dolly meds working in parallel with the new tablets 😊 Marydoll

A late good morning from Glasgow where it is -1, a hard frost , blue skies and sunshine.

Yesterday’s birthday celebration was exactly as DH would have wished for. Spending time with his girls, including DD2 on FaceTime. Enjoying their company and listening to them chatting and laughing. GD1, 17, had a few sips of champagne which she said she deserved after a stressful morning sitting her Advanced Higher English prelims. 😂 Perfect day.

Leaving soon fo DH’s speech therapist appointment in Glasgow after which it will be straight home to the warm for a relaxing afternoon.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good morning everyone from another very frosty day in Northampton,. -1° outside at the moment. Late this morning again, as I was out last night and needed a bit of a lie-in! Did not have a good night though, as most of it seemed to be spent sitting up as lying down gave me terrible heartburn - too much food and wine!

It was good to see all members of the wine club and a pleasant time was spent catching up on everyone's news. Sadly though, we decided the time had come to wind up the club, mainly because transport to and from meetings has become difficult, due to ill health and age of husbands/partners who normally ferry us to and from meetings. We shall have one last meeting in April, and will use taxis for that one.

To the shops this morning to do a food shop for the weekend, as my DBrother-in-law is coming for a couple of days. Will give my dance classes a miss today.

40 years ago today I was in hospital awaiting my planned section - DD is 40 today! What a big baby she was - 9lb 3oz. She was at wine club last night, and we had a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate. A family lunch is being held on Sunday to mark the occasion.

Had an email from my DBrother to say that my DSis will be home from hospital today; care at home is being arranged for her and she has one or both of her daughters with her at the moment. No news as to what the nature of her illness is yet.

Haven't read the thread yet, but will wish all a pleasant Thursday.

Urms - as I thought, DH has lost weight due to 2 gym sessions per week rather than one! His back is just backache. He swears that it was putting the Christmas decorations away in the eaves at the back of our wardrobe.

The practice was brilliant. He saw a gp at 10 am and a resident physio at 10.30. Can't fault the NHS.

It was early evening my the time I was able to catch up with you all yesterday. But I will catch up with you all later.

Good morning from a frosty, sunny W Kent. Off this morning to catch up with two friends from my art group. One I see regularly but the other one stopped coming when she fell ill and I haven't seen her face to face since before lockdown, not sure there will be time to quite catch up.
Glad you are getting appointments through Mick, glad you are feeling a bit better Marydoll
Good wishes to all

Good morning all from chilly Algarve. 4° this morning but rising about one degree each hour. It looks fine and bright but as yesterday looked gloomy and turned out sunny,I have no idea what the day will bring.

I survived the trip to the post office yesterday, which I was really dreading. The PO is in an older part of town, down a wind tunnel of a street with difficult parking. DH usually has to drop me as near as possible and drive round the block while I navigate over the old cabbles, wait my turn and then wait outside in the wind tunnel until I see him and can safely get to the car again. Add a cashier who I’m sure is related to Marydoll’s pharmacist and you can understand why I dread it.

Yesterday went differently. DH was able to pull into a disabled spot right outside, with a warning that he probably wouldn’t be there by the time I came out. Only a few cobbles to cross. There were ten people in front of me but after five minutes someone came out for their coffee break, noticed my stick and nodded at both me and the senior cashier that I was to go next and I was able to collect my letter. It was as I’d hoped my new SEF card which I had to open in there to prove it was me and I was set to go. Outside DH hadn’t had to move for a blue card holder and was still there. The relief I felt was ridiculous but liberating! Not only that but the photo to identify me for the next 20 years is far better than I expected. Obviously having to open your eyes extra wide makes for better photos.

D H recently had a new passport photograph done. He felt hurt at first that I laughed at it, but I told him that it was he bore so little resemblance to the terrified rabbit in the photo. He doesn’t look at all like a rabbit normally. wink

Good morning it is lightly snowing here in Leicestershire.

A very nice young man came and changed both our meters yesterday and now I have a little gadget on the side telling me how much I am spending. It is horrifying!

Today will be spent trying to transfer my DH’s train tickets to Brighton to his phone. We are going tomorrow for DiL’s 40th birthday and meeting up with DD and SiL despite them having moved on Wednesday and piled up with boxes!

The snow is now heavy so hope it goes before our drive to the station tomorrow.

Dragonfly I unplugged that gadget and put it back in it's box in a cupboard. The meters work the same without it and I'm no longer horrified when looking at it.

Ziplok Thu 19-Jan-23 09:26:13

Good morning. No snow here but it’s very frosty again.
Haven’t read all your posts yet, will pop back later.
Take care.

hollysteers Thu 19-Jan-23 09:22:09

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Quite a lot achieved yesterday, the plumber disconnected the old leaking radiator and I now have central heating thank goodness, also my DS fixed my electric window in the car.
My mobile phone is not charging so will pop out with it to phone shop. Why is it that when one thing breaks down, a few others join in for sympathy?

Catch up FaceTime with old friend who told me about her 93 year old mother being left on a trolley in a corridor of the hospital for 34 hours doubly incontinent and pleading to God to take her…..her story ended up on morning tv.
We are due for a meet up, she’s good fun and we have sung together in productions over the years.
Hope you have a good trip Ash, your moving arrangements work out grandMattie and thoughts to all with worries.

Grammaretto Thu 19-Jan-23 09:16:11

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
My lodger and I were scraping our car windscreens this morning. Her to drive to work and me to yoga later on. It's minus 2° and supposed to be sunny>

There was a burst water main while I was out earlier in the week so as soon as we tried to run water it came in bursts of brown mud!
And it's still January.shock
I hope you reached your destination ok Ash despite the strikes.
I hope noone in England needs an ambulance.
Good result with your meds Marydoll you sound your usual self smile
Have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Thu 19-Jan-23 09:13:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s very cold in South Yorkshire with light cloud. I slept very well last night for a change. Heating is really struggling this morning. Forecast says temps will lift a bit next week. Here’s hoping. Not sure what is on the agenda today. I have some soup I made yesterday to portion up for the freezer, and I may try and walk down to the supermarket to buy DD a birthday card. We’ll see.
Lovely photos Alygran, thankyou.
Have the best day you can folks.

Stilllearning Thu 19-Jan-23 09:04:16

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire, our roads are still very icy, our’s is always specially bad for some reason so spikes on boots for walking this morning. I slithered from the station yesterday on my return from childminding. No car as I went by train on Monday, I am unable to cope confidently now with these conditions.

I am heading later this morning to get a ‘treat’ to take to a friend whose husband, a lovely man, was knocked down last Friday, the day before his 80th birthday. He is out of intensive care and beginning his recovery but quite a road ahead I think, for both of them. Talk about life changing in a blink.

Glad you are making a bit of progress Marydoll and a way ahead for you Mick

Gingster I remember your daughter often, I hope all goes well with her house move.

As usual your baking sounds intriguing grandMattie, you are very creative.

Loved Matt this morning Urmstongram I am bewildered by my country sometimes.

Wishing everyone a good day 🦩

EkwaNimitee Thu 19-Jan-23 09:00:58

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but icy Carlisle where little pink clouds are drifting across the sky and it's -1C. There was a bit of a thaw yesterday but pavements look potentially slippy and so might the country roads be so it's another day inside.
I have a resident blackbird who only seems to come when the weather is like this. He enjoys apple and bread and is here when it's barely light. However, another male has turned up so 'my' bird remains instead of coming and going. When he's full, he sits about and guards the remaining food in case the other fellow comes back and nabs it in his absence!
The Hepatology nurse did ring yesterday for my annual check. She asked me to arrange a blood test at my surgery, which I did, the earliest being a fortnight away. Before Christmas it was just a few days.

I shall tackle the ironing this morning then should make some phone calls to potential decorators. After that, a new book and some indoor exercise, the latter is a maybe...

Hopefully, a good day for you all today.

GrannyGravy13

You do seem brighter today Marydoll I guess it’s Dollie medicine.

How did you work that out, GG? 🤣

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Morning all

Mick looks like your appointments are coming thick and fast.

Heavy frost and chilly as Gingster posted earlier (I am only a couple of miles as the crow flies from her) hoping your DD moves goes ok 👍

Our DD has been poorly since beginning of December, two telephone appointments with various antibiotics slowly getting worse. Yesterday she was so upset and felt so ill that when the care navigator (receptionist) finally answered the phone she got a face-to-face appointment resulting in a diagnosis of acute bronchitis and probably pneumonia. No plans for us for the next few days as DD and GC will be our priorities.

Safe journey Ashcombe

You are definitely in the best place Urmstongran

Good luck with the Estate Agent grandMattie

Have a good day folks and keep warm 🙋‍♀️🦩❄️

Jaxjacky Thu 19-Jan-23 08:52:52

Good morning from, as Sally said, a frozen S Hampshire. Great photos Alygran they would make a good book cover. You’re very ‘zen’ about your disturbance WWM2.
Farm shop today and some books for our local charity shop, I think, as MrJ isn’t working, we’ll go out for a meal at some point. Hope your crossing is expedient Ashcombe.
Have a reasonable day all 🦩🦩

Good morning all from the Black country, where we have a light dusting of snow. Yesterday's heavier downpour had disappeared by early evening, but the sun is out so this may be gone by lunchtime.
No plans today just a local shop then a little more decluttering, another bag has been taken to the charity shop this week.
Bon voyage Ash and safe travels for anyone else on the move, best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Take care all and enjoy your Thursday and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from a very cold and very frosty Essex by the sea.
DH will be out defrosting the car shortly before we can go food shopping.
I have a bag of mainly jigsaws to take to the charity shop later.
This afternoon I shall be snuggled indoors catching up with some tv programmes.
Have the best Thursday you can and be careful out there xxx
