Thankyou.
It is only today feeling so good that I realise just how unwell I felt last weekend.
Long may it last.

Good morning from sunny West Sussex. It’s very cold though. Yesterday was lovely. We went to our local farm shop and had lunch before stocking up with apples and a squash and several pounds of Seville oranges for marmalade. We went and parked near the seafront and had a much needed walk (I’ve been hibernating). The tide was out and there were lots of birds feeding - curlews, oystercatchers, various ducks and an egret. I took out childish pleasure in stamping on the frozen puddles - such a good crunching sound when the ice breaks.

I had my neighbour call while I was writing earlier. She took me to visit another neighbour who has been in hospital and is now home but unable to go out or even go upstairs. She has carers coming in but is very lonely, being widowed and having had no children and no other family nearby. I had only met her once, some time ago so didn’t want to call until I’d been properly introduced!

I still had a lot of soft fruit in the freezer so have brought out a kilo of blackcurrants and will make some more jam before starting on the marmalade.

Happy birthday and safe travelling to Wyllow. Glad to hear annsixty has some outings lined up.

grandMattie Fri 20-Jan-23 12:10:29

You are quite right, DL is a retired vivat. She also had a very successful career in NHS as psychologist! She is just totally lacking in empathy and understanding.
Regarding the flat, I moved into every house except the last one without ever having viewed it. I had three children under 4, and especially when we moved from Jersey, it was a dreadful palaver flying over with all three, transport to Basingstoke from Southampton airport, getting a hotel, etc. etc. It doesn’t bother me at all.

A late good morning from a beautiful bright cold East London . I seem to get waylaid each morning before I look at the posts . Still not read them all but at least I can wish happy birthday Wyllow
My exercise on prescription at the gym is really beginning to work . Just a weekly strengthening exercises , the treadmill and cycle is improving my muscle strength post hip replacement at last. Gentle water exercises weekly also help.
We had a very interesting talk by a MercyShip doctor at our WI last night . Such amazing work and compassionate people.
Haircut this afternoon and a visit to my D sister- in law for a cuppa .

A. very late good morning from me. I woke up very early, got up and made a cup of tea, watched the news for a while and fell asleep when I should have been getting up. I am mad at myself!

Happy birthday Wyllow I hope you have a lovely visit with your family.

baubles, two lovely pictures, one of the the pond and one image of the wee trusting hand.

So glad to read your happy positive posts too Kalu.

Now on with what’s left of the morning🥹🦩

I worked in a Theological College for many years. I came across a multitude of ordinands, vicars, Bishops, retired vicars etc… most were delightful but a handful were a nightmare,

annsixty Fri 20-Jan-23 10:18:49

Grandmattie do I recall that your lodger was a retired vicar!!!

annsixty Fri 20-Jan-23 10:15:27

Good morning all from Stockport.
We got up to snow yesterday which lasted a few hours but as the temperature rose it then quite quickly disappeared.
When I went to bed my phone was showing 4 but this morning it is back to 1 degree.

A very welcome social weekend for me, it is two weeks tomorrow since I have been been through the door.
A meal out at a local hotel tonight and my monthly Chinese takeaway at a friend and former neighbour’s house, postponed from last week when I wasn’t well tomorrow.

My GD’s half sister who is 18 came last evening and stayed overnight, I was pleased it all went well as they have not always had the best of relationships.
I think they have both matured enough to put past grudges behind them.

Lovely cat Ash I hope it settles.

Best wishes to all who are not well or are caring.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Urmstongran Fri 20-Jan-23 10:07:13

Many happy returns of the day to you Wyllow from me as well. I hope you have a lovely time with your family.

Oh grandMattie that sounds ungrateful in the extreme. What a mean spirited and self absorbed individual. She seems to have focused on the fact she was required to spend 2 days in a B&B rather than the several weeks you looked after her. Nowt so strange as folk eh?

baubles I bet you were joyous being offered that little hand! Plus you’ll have made her good and tired for bedtime - the parents will have been pleased.
😊

Taichinan Fri 20-Jan-23 10:07:12

Lovely photo Baubles - I didn't recognise the view and thought you must be away up in the Highlands somewhere, all wild and rugged!

dragonfly46 Fri 20-Jan-23 10:06:15

Happy Birthday Wyllow.

So pleased to see poorly ones going from strength to strength - kitty, Mr Kalu, Marydolland others.

A late good morning from me. Waking in a very frosty Gloucestershire it’s a different day for us.

I’m currently sat in the day ward at the Bristol Heart Institute waiting for Mr C to return from his procedure. We were lucky, our son is on leave and offered to be chauffeur which meant a slightly later start (6.45 rather than 6.15) for the very early appointment. Staff are being as kind to me as to Mr C. Can’t praise them enough. We should be ready for a ride back to our car by lunch time and then home late afternoon. I’m so grateful not to have to manage parking, I’ll not rant about the foolishness of having a regional centre of excellent on a steep hill without a car park. It won’t change a thing.

I’m not surprised you’re unsettled granmattie, will you go and view a short list when there is one? I always think the feel of a property and location is so important.

A very happy birthday wyllow, safe journey.

A rest today sounds more than sensible marydoll.

Good wishes to all. Hope your Friday is a gentle one.

Taichinan Fri 20-Jan-23 10:02:32

Good morning everyone from another glorious day on the Angus coast. The view from here is so beautiful that I can (and do!) sit for ages just looking. Today the sun is glinting off the windows of the houses in the town and further afield in the little fishing village up the coast, there's snow on the hills and the water is a glorious blue.
Happy birthday Wyllow and enjoy your visit to family. Grandmattie I think the worst time about moving is that period of uncertainty when you know you're going but don't yet know precisely where to or when. It's a sort of limbo time. But once that's past, it's all excitement, anticipation and discovery. There now, I've talked myself into wanting to move 😉🤣
Ash it must be lovely to be back in France, and what a pretty little pusskin to welcome you! Hope OD feels better quickly.
After tai chi followed by a weekly shop round the town yesterday qI was really exhausted for some reason. But tai chi is always such a pleasant experience. With three ladies absent yesterday the fact that there are no fewer than five gentlemen students stood out! Believe me, that is noteworthy in these parts! Their age range is early sixties to 84 - and the oldest is as fit as a fiddle and still doing 10 mile hikes with his walking group.
Oh dear, I seem to have gone into auto-witter, so I shall retire gracefully, wishing you all good day. Stay cosy and safe x

baubles Fri 20-Jan-23 09:57:47

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s still frosty but beautifully sunny.

Beautiful cat Ash.

Happy birthday Wyllow, enjoy your day.

Yesterday was enjoyable, having left their parents decluttering DH and I took the baby with us to the nursery to pick up his sister. We (he) then pushed the double buggy round past the Parliament building but instead of our usual visit to the Palace Cafe we headed for one of the university eateries which we haven’t been in for a while. It’s modern and spacious with good, reasonably priced food.

The little two year old refused to get back in the pram and held her hand out for mine, she happily walked home through the park, waving to the swans as we passed by the pond.

Today daft dug has an appointment with the groomer so will come back looking pounds lighter.

Photo of the swan pond in Holyrood Park minus the swans which were huddled together at the other end!

Grandmachrisy47 Fri 20-Jan-23 09:49:02

Late start today.
Happy Birthday,Willow, hope your journey up here to Co Durham goes smoothly.
Glad you sound more like yourself Marydoll.
Lazy day for me today, after the stress of installing a new router and logging all techie stuff in to new password. I’m going to visit a friend this evening. She hurt her knee earlier this week and can’t walk too far. Will take wine 😀.
Wishing all a stress free day.

Grandmabatty Fri 20-Jan-23 09:44:17

Grandmattie your information about the lodger doesn't surprise me. She seemed ungrateful when staying with you and I wouldn't have expected anything else from her. Sad though, that she couldn't recognise and acknowledge how helpful you were.

Georgesgran Fri 20-Jan-23 09:38:24

Good morning from Durham where it’s cold but bright and a high of 4 forecast. I’ve a stinking cold, my nose is sore and red, accompanied by very unladylike explosive sneezing - won’t be doing much today and have cancelled babysitting DHS2 tonight - it’s frustrating. However, I must go out later - I don’t want DD1 to drive 50mile with a pint of milk.
I don’t think I’d trust my DDs to select a new place for me to ‘gM’. They both have good taste, but very different ideas.
Happy birthday Wyllow safe travels North.
Love Ash’s cat - I feed a tortoiseshell here, but I don’t think it’s homeless, just greedy. Off to hibernate. Have a good day. X

grandMattie Fri 20-Jan-23 09:31:24

Happy birthday, Wyllow3.

No, Urms, nothing from ex-DL. Either texted requests for things or curt messages. No phone calls, surprising since she spent her time at the telephone when she was here! She moved to a flat the other side of our little town. She is surrounded by people she knows and has shamed (?) into running around for her…

BlueSapphire Fri 20-Jan-23 09:25:53

Good morning everyone from yet another very frosty day in Northampton, 0° at the moment. Will be staying in today, preparing for the visit from my DB -in-law this weekend. I have beds to make up, bathroom to clean, kitchen floor to wash and then the hoovering. And some washing to do.

Had a good shop yesterday, laying in nice sausages and bacon from M&S, plus cheese and other goodies. We shall not starve anyway! Must get the beef out of the freezer for a casserole tomorrow.

What a beautiful cat Ash, sure to be a much loved member of your French housrhold.

Wishing all a good Friday.

Anniebach Fri 20-Jan-23 09:21:21

Good morning Auntyflo and all x
