Good Morning Saturday 21st January 2023
(55 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark as usual but its dry ,and looks as though its not as cold as in past few mornings.
I would like to pop out on a bus just to visit a store and use some of my xmas gift cards .
Otherwise a quiet day with a Chinese take Away later.
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from Shropshire.Back to a heavy frost and low temp forecast all day🥶
Started the day with a message from DD with details of a house she thinks is perfect for us.She has us sold up and moved in and DH isn’t even awake yet🤯
We called at Sainsburys yesterday and got the last two vegetarian haggis🥳We couldn’t wait until the 25th and had one last night!
We are not planning on doing much today #lazygrandmaand grandpa.Like Ekwa I am reading an Ann Cleeves book and really enjoying it so will probably finish it today.
Good news that your loan is through Grammaretto🥳such a relief for you.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Morning all from a frosty West Oxfordshire. It is OH’s 71st birthday today. Unlike his 70th last year when we met the family in London for a celebratory lunch, this will be a quiet day. Dinner out this evening. Have a good day.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s really frosty.
Family all arrived last night armed with beautiful flowers for DH’s grave. We shall take them to the churchyard this morning. So very different from 10 years ago when we were hosting his 60th birthday party weekend.
Off to the local pub for lunch then DD1 and co will go home as DGS has football tomorrow. DD2 and I will have a quiet evening.
Safe travels to all on the move.
Stay warm and enjoy your day everyone.
Morning from an extremely cold Co Durham, -4 according to Alexa.
Lovely evening putting the world to rights with my injured friend. She is going stir crazy not being able to walk far, as she is normally out everyday.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.
Good morning all and yes it’s 🥶.
I had another poor night. Read at 4 til 6 and dozed off .
I had my DD’s weighted blanket on for a try out. Didn’t like it!
I felt very hemmed in. They’re supposed to give you a restful night. 😢.
Another day of unpacking and sorting with Dd. Number 2 son is coming this afternoon and we’ll get him to help in some way.
The cat has gone missing! We keep going round to the old house but he’s scarpered. . DD’s has asked the neighbours to keep a look out and let her know.
Dh and no.1 son might go to footie if it’s not too icy.
Take care and keep cosy .
Good morning from Severnside. Still cold and frosty.
I have some ironing to do also sewing and card making along with any other jobs that I remember to do over this weekend. I will potter at them and do as I remember what wants doing.
My daily email from Hobbycraft has just arrived. Wonder what they are trying to tempt me with this morning 🤣
I see my Hellebores are starting to flower too. They are dark ones.
Have a good day all 🌼🦩
Good morning all from East Yorkshire.
I am finished packing for our time away in the north west just last minute bits to go in. Yes it is a nightmare this time of year Ash. The weather here is supposed to be a bit warmer this week. If I need anything I’m excited that there is an M &S where we are based from Monday!
I hope the M62 doesn’t cause us too many hold ups. The family are also with us for an overnighter and we are going for a family meal. Tomorrow the men and GS are attending an event at the Arena in Liverpool.
So many goings on. Hope you both enjoy the ballet Nannagarra a magical afternoon.
Happy Chinese New Year.
Good morning from sunny Colchester. It's going to reach 7 degrees today but below freezing overnight.
I don't think we'll be doing much as our colds are clinging on. Might need to replenish the tissue supply.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning all from the, still freezing, Scottish Borders. My hands are icy cold and I've just put a cake in the oven
Our artist in residence is having an exhibition of her work today in the town hall and we "ladies who bake" are serving coffee and cake. Actually we do this every Saturday. We invented warm spaces long before it became a thing
Tonight I am booked to hear a couple of folk singers in another hall celebrating Burn's Night, early.
I am still on a high after finally receiving the home energy loan I applied for in 2021.did I say that already?
I am glad so many of you are finding ways of keeping busy and cosy.
Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, frosty corner of Somerset. -3 out there.
Back from hospital yesterday to find two more appointments had arrived. One is for another day ward procedure in a month, we’ll be much more confident about that after yesterdays experience. Everyone was both kind and ultra professional, a long day was made as pleasant as possible.
Mr C fancies a garden centre trip today, other than that nothing planned although I should process some laundry.
Special thoughts to those finding life hard going, hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Oh I forgot to say that I couldn’t get to the hairdressers yesterday as the main A27 was closed because it was like an ice rink. That is what you get when building on a flood plain and the clay pan is unforgiving. Idiots !
Good morning from Oxfordshire where it’s -3 and gloomy.
Out with MissOops this morning for a potter around her Market Town, we haven’t been out shopping together for years.
And that’s it.
Hope everyone has a good day, stays warm and safe.
Good morning from South Downs. Dry and about 1c I think. Sat in bed drinking tea, with the dog prancing around trying to persuade me to get up, for his morning walk.
Shall take it reasonably easy today as this sore throat kept waking me during the night.
Nothing planned. I am looking at some miniature dwarf bearded irises from a French nursery that I am coveting and wondering whether I can justify the price. They are exquisite though.
ashcombe enjoy your time in France.
kitty bedroom mirrors sound interesting! You’ve obviously got your mojo back.
Oh! I’ve got to go dog driving me mad.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where its -1°C.
GM, I hope you can find a driver to take you, you have helped so many others.
The waiting lists here are two years, that's after seeing a specialist. The referral alone takes fourteen weeks.
I'm sure you will find a difference.
I won't be doing much today. A wee bit of a setback yesterday, the new meds have side effects and the worst is insomnia, nausea and dry mouth. Grrr. I shall persevere!
I already suffer from Sjogrens and have no voice at the moment. The medication is exacerbating it and DH is using my lack of voice to his advantage !
I've had little sleep and am rather tetchy.
Poor Mr MD!
Glad to hear, you have arrived safely, Ash. Enjoy!
For those in the sick bay, and with worries, I wish you a gentle day.
Enjoy your Saturday.
Good morning all from Stockport where is is -2 .
I have had a bad night as I always do when I have been out.
My mind races with the evening’s doing’s.
I had a nice meal, and a cocktail to start the evening off.
I hope you are all staying warm and safe in this weather.
Have the best day you can everyone.
good morning from a -6 s somerset, it will be a joyously lovely sunny day today
I did some standing- up weeding of my raised beds yesterday. I could only get 2mm deep as the soil has turned into a big block of ice. Does not bode well for my expensive, drought and heat-loving plants
Still knitting and consequently am sleeping very well. Important to be doing those small satisfying jobs, to get through winter and to keep what could be an empty day at bay. Spring is indeed coming, my hellebores are flowering
Good morning from Durham, there’s been a really hard frost overnight, I thought it had snowed. Maw, I’m a rabbit (magical hare?) and I have two friends expecting grandchildren this year, so I alternately know what gift I’ll be buying the new arrivals.
Not a lot planned because of my cold and I wish I’d asked SinL to bring me bread and milk when he came on Thursday. I can sort out some donations for the Charity shop and hard floors are to steam now DD2’s dog has gone home.
Best wishes to all for the weekend. X
Good morning all from still frozen South Lanarkshire.
It’s a working day for me but today I’d rather stay at home and crochet in this weather. I console myself with the thought that spring isn’t far away and the light is returning, albeit slowly.
I hope you don’t have to wait too long for news of the flats gM.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning all from a very foggy North Leicestershire where the temperature is -2°.
We have Persie and Wolfie this afternoon while Bertie and a group of his friends go to an indoor Crazy Golf to celebrate his birthday.
Before they arrive, we have to change our bed and hopefully DH will put up some mirrors in our bedroom.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning and Happy Chinese New Year everyone from another very frosty day in Northampton, -3° outside at the moment. Set to rise to the dizzying heights of I° later! Shall have to wrap up warm for the rugby this afternoon.
Up early today as my DB-in-law is arriving for a short stay later this morning, and I have yet to run the Shark around downstairs and prepare a beef casserole for tonight's dinner. Not to mention getting showered and dressed.
Had a day at home yesterday, changed the beds, and gave the kitchen and bathrooms a thorough clean. Was glad to sit down mid afternoon when I'd finished!
Taking DB-in-law to the rugby this afternoon, where we shall meet DD and her husband; I intend asking them for a lift home afterwards to save waiting in the cold for a bus!
Remember the excitement and noise of Chinese New Year when we lived in Singapore, fire-crackers everywhere; remember spending one New Year up country in Malacca, where our hotel was right in the middle of the Chinese quarter of town where we were nearly deafened!
Hoping all have a pleasant Saturday, and keep warm in this freezing weather.
Good morning everyone, yet another -3° start here on the hill.
Yesterday actually achieved what I set out to do, including sorting 7 boxes of books which were collected for the charity shop, sorting my yarn stash, general housework and prepping for crafts on Tuesday.
DDog had a lovely time with the dog walker, chasing around with two new friends- she came home and slept all afternoon and evening! Hopefully that’ll be regular now.
I have my first crocuses out, spring is coming!
Good morning from a freezing NE where it is -3.
Sister and BIL will visit this afternoon and bring my milk, bread and newspaper.
DS and family will come and stay for the rest of the day.
I spent yesterday afternoon preparing vegetable dishes which saves time today.
Pleased your new cat is settling in Ashcombe. DD had two foster cats Farine and Lola and they had to be kept in different areas of the house because they could not get on. Lola is a calico and very vocal.
Stay warm today.
Good morning from dark and dry Sefton.
We’re now 10 days in having the roof replaced, probably during the worst weather possible with howling wind and driving rain. The front and back have been tiled; ridge tiles and finishing touches are scheduled for the earlier part of next week.
A busy time has been had in the Garra household. On Thursday we went to see I Wanna Dance followed by an Indian meal; last night lots of tissues were needed (I had been warned by Gala!) for A Man Called Otto. This particular cinema is next to a wonderful, family-owned restaurant where we enjoyed risotto and pizza plus, of course, chilled rosé.
Today I’m taking DGD to Manchester Opera House to see The Nutcracker. Who will be more excited? It’s a close call. DH is keen to chauffeur us and has booked a nearby restaurant. Paying for several hours parking in Manchester city centre is eye-watering but he likes to spoil us!
Whatever your plans, enjoy Saturday.
