Carol Vorderman’s Very Modern Love Life

Hot on the heels of Prince Harry oversharing intimate details of his life we now have Carol Vorderman appearing on 2 daytime programmes letting the public know how free she feels since deciding she would not have just one male relationship in her life, but 5 “special friends” . (‘Friends with benefits’ in other words).

We discuss other TV revelations on GN and I wonder what do you think of this one?

Calling another woman a slapper is wrong on every level , it says more about the person saying it than the one who it was aimed at. If she is so offensive, dont read about her, don't watch or listen to the programmes she's on. Some of the comments on this forum make me question how far we've come, clearly not far enough!

I don't care about Carol's personal life but get annoyed by this kind of over-sharing. She seems to be very needy, wants the publicity, wants the money. It seems to be what happens when you see your star waning. She reminds me of that Harry chap. But it's disappointing in this day and age that a woman gets so much critcism for the way she chooses to lead her personal and intimate life whereas older men behaving similarly don't seem to draw such adverse attention. I was a Countdown contestant in the 1980s but it was before Carol's time. Cathy Hytner did the numbers and Della Thompson did the dictionary.

Too much information. I’m with Germanshepherdsmum yuck, just yuck.

I love you Gransnetters,: what honest, sensible responses to the ridiculous Vorderman woman. She probably didn’t get enough attention as a child.

twiglet77 Wed 25-Jan-23 12:30:14

Ugh. Each to their own, I suppose, but surely no need to publicise it.

lizzypopbottle Wed 25-Jan-23 12:41:26

I agree whole heartedly with CV about never living with another man. Who wants the demands and compromises? If I had a few men on the go, I'd make sure our assignations took place at their houses or a hotel to avoid the laundry... However, it's extremely unlikely to happen! 😂😅😁

mrsgreenfingers56 Wed 25-Jan-23 12:41:55

Personally I think just plain old tacky and should keep to herself, what on earth do her children think?

Hope she’s taking precautions

She doesn't need to she has been on the Menopause bus so that protects her from pregnancy but nothing else.'Though if she is advocating having multiple partners at any age. She is promoting multiple partners is alright. Not just pregnancy can result from having a partner or multiples. How many STDs can be passed on by the partners? Who knows how many they have had and their partner's partners,s and so the spread multiplies.
Some years ago a survey was carried out among University students and quite a lot who had only ever had one partner found they had infections that at the time showed no symptoms but had lasting implications for the rest of their life. Their partners had not just had one partner.
So maybe she does need to take precautions and who knows what she might pass on.

Never been a fan of Ms. Vorderman. No interest at all in anything she says or does.

**But I am glad older women's sexuality is coming out as opposed to a mans view I heard recently, "oh women aren't interested in sex after the menopause".**

I always mentally translate that as "my wife isn't interested in sex with me because I treat her as if she were my mother and have put on 3 stone."

Spot on in the case of the one I heard say it, but he's certainly not the only one.

Wyllow3 Wed 25-Jan-23 12:54:53

Yes she'd have to take precautions because of STD's unless both her and the man/men concerned were tested regularly and were clear.

Perhaps they carry stificates around?

Sparklefizz I’ve never been that convinced by her intellectual prowess.
Especially when she is referred to as a ‘maths genius‘, which she frequently is.

She got a Third in Engineering.

I find her really dislikable. She is my Celebrity Bete Noir.

My Voldermanmort.

(I’ve got some theories on her self image issues, but I’d better keep them to myself!)

I agree 100%. I can't stand her.

polly123 Wed 25-Jan-23 13:18:22

I assume that she, like all the other so called celebrities, cannot cope without constantly being in the limelight. This latest thing is boring and puzzling.

Ladies this has made my morning. I'm sitting here giggling to my 62 year old self - with a pack of frozen peas on my knee after doing my knee exercises - all advised by the hospital after getting too "physical" with the new exercise bike last week in an attempt to be flexible and beautiful forever 😂😂- 5 men? 5???? No thankyou. Does she realise how Yuk this image she projects really is ?

Dianehillbilly1957 Wed 25-Jan-23 13:27:31

Who in their right mind gives a damm about her and her over inflated ego? Certainly not me!! Sick of these people who think they're special, they're just sad and needy!! But doesn't get my sympathies.

StoneofDestiny Wed 25-Jan-23 13:31:01

Sad - she thinks she’s a teenager and a model. We all know she is far from that - she doesn’t. Must be desperate to stay relevant (she is failing)

grandtanteJE65 Wed 25-Jan-23 13:36:12

Are you re-visiting the 1970s in the UK?

On the continent of Europe we did this stuff, some of us, at any rate then, and the rest talked about it non-stop.

Nowadays, no-one bothers how others conduct their private lives, unless they are rapists or paedophiles, and neither radio nor TV would give these people time to air their views publicly.

I am not trying to be nasty, I would genuinely like to know what is going on. It might be a trend that will crop up here next year, quod Deus advertat!

😁
Afghan coats, flowers in your hair (that was 1967) and free love!

I seem to be missing out.

StoneofDestiny Wed 25-Jan-23 14:21:13

She will be on the retirees Love Island show next.

The problem is, the viewing public don’t really like to look at unattractive people on TV.
You will never get an extremely unattractive news reader for example, they just wouldn’t get the job.
You have to look good on camera unfortunately.
There have been a few male exceptions over the years, but not many.

But how do they know the viewing public do not like to watch unattractive people? They never give ordinary people the chance do they?

She can obviously count up to 5 though!!

Oh dear, I haven't emptied the dishwasher this morning. I better get on, and then start looking for 5 men, one's got to keep with the times!!!

Molly10 Wed 25-Jan-23 16:33:18

Wow, reading this thread I've been quite shocked by the vitriol.

Usually I read wise words on this forum. Woman supporting other woman in all areas of life.

What happened to empowering woman to be strong and independent in all walks of life.

I was wondering how much of her confidence, renewed or otherwise, is down to HRT . So I ask you wise woman who have experience of HRT to enlighten us on your experience.

Personally I think Carol looks great now. She does a great job presenting Pride of Britain among other things.

How do we know this?

its to my choice to present myself that way but today she is "Desperate" is quite offensive really. We don''t know that at all.

I think enough men feel "an attractive woman is an attractive woman at any age" whether you have gone to her lengths as to what she considers attractive (and the men who create to her, presumably), or just "looked after yourself".

But we do live in a society where many do consider only young is "beautiful".

Wyllow3 Wed 25-Jan-23 17:00:37

Correct -" its not my choice to present myself that way"
