How Old (or Young) are you in your Head? 🤔

I agree with you in the main Monica
But someone I worry that I feel far too young.
I honestly think that I have the sensibilities of a child ( an 11 year old specifically).
It was a time that I was very happy, so there must be something in that.

I am 72, approaching 73. I feel that age. My health is not great and I find some things hard. I look like an old woman because I am an old woman. I cannot pretend that I am 30 or 40 years old because those years are long past. That doesn't mean that I think I am past it or of no value any more. It just means that I am realistic. I am valued by many people – families and those for whom I volunteer – so I don't feel useless and I don't feel I have to pretend that I am younger than I really am. Seems silly to me to believe that you are years younger than where you are. I am still there with all my cough drops.

For some reason , I feel I am still in my early 40s. I liked those years. Family complete. Husband was offered parity in the partnership. Children at that lovely age. A health scare with my middle son, was behind us. He was fine. But little did I know it was the calm before the storm. Husband’s affair knocked me for six. Heading into my 50s, start of divorce proceedings which took 5 years to settle. Back to stability now.

I feel my age, but am OK with it. Its brought blessings as well as problems. And the illness bits aren't helped by wishing them away and I feel better accepting and adjusting. Probably better at it, too.

I am no age in my head and neer have been. There is just the essence of who I am, which is ageless.

I feel much the same as you, it’s just me in there.

Bette Davies said ageing should stop at 36. That sounds about right and will do me, not too old, not too young.

I have an inner 9 year old who collects pop up books, toy theatres and trains.

I fail to see what's ouch about what I said. Reading most of the replies it's perfectly obvious this is a subjective thing.

Which means my feelings about it are as valid as anyone else's and I have as much right to express them.

No need for anyone to take it personally.

I am like Monica I have never thought age was important. I judge myself on my capabilities.

I think I feel pretty much the same as when I was thirty, but when I look in the mirror I see a different story.
Worst of all are my grandchildren constantly taking photos “THAT IS NOT ME” I cry, “I am young, slim and pretty “
They think I’m nuts, they obviously can’t imagine me that way, I’m just slightly plump, old granny.

I think I'm about 35 in my head. DH with final job, me with a permanent job that I thought would last until I retired,nice house and two children all content at last
Somedays I feel young and sprightly and do enjoy where we live now. Health issues are starting to change that and the lack of facilities, I know we will have to move again and it does pray on my mind. Losing a few cousins this last year has brought me up sharp.

I don't know, not 46 that's for sure...

Interesting question. Sometimes when not well I feel every year but in my head, I am just as interested in life and people and thinking ahead, that hasn’t changed. I hope I accept change, a lot not for the better, but it is what it is. Certainly kept my interest in clothes and travel.

I'd say around 20. I still love the music from then and have a dance around the house with the hoover to it, but then my hips remind me later what age I actually am.

My ex mil was old mentally when I first met her til her son and I split up. She had a very old fashioned attitude to life which she expected us to follow. My mum until recently was young at heart. So I don't consider the question nonsensical in the slightest. I've found the replies interesting

It's really not something I ever think about, I'm just me and age is irrelevant.

About 48.

I feel better now than I did 10 years ago. Back then, I felt about 88 some days.

I am about thirty in my head, with a zest for life, but about 100 healthwise!
My mind and body keep arguing with each other.

In my head I am still 21. I notice my age when it comes to modern attitudes, manners, ways how society deals with things and then I realise I really am a 1950s baby. And for me the adage still stands: Discretion is the greater part of valour!

I think that you may have misunderstood my op Baggs.

I’m not saying ‘you’re as old as you feel!’ nonsense.

I’m asking which ages seem significant.
For many reasons 11 is always the age that I think of.

I was in what I think of my prime; with so much promise; definitely the brightest I have ever been; and none of the adolescent stuff to take me off track.
