How fast are you? Do slow people irritate you?

I walk quickly, cook quickly, make a bed quickly.
I do everything at speed.
Once focused on a task I just get on and do it.

My husband will park the car and by the time he’s out of it I have gone half way around Waitrose with my trolley!
My daughter is exactly the same as me, she is about the only person I know who walks at my speed.

At times I find people that are slow irritating (sorry all you slow coaches)
I am very aware that my speed may be equally as irritating.

I have a wonderful friend that I would love to go away with again, we never have a cross word but she is shockingly slow, by the time she is up and out of the hotel half the day is gone, she will spend hours fiddling around and never getting anywhere.

At what pace do you operate and do slow/fast people irritate you?

I'm Speedy Gonzales and can't stand dawdlers - not against anyone who can't move fast. If I were going out tomorrow, I would have everything ready to go tonight, DH on the other hand?

Yes, but that's being organised, lilypollen

That’s lovely Rosie51 I’ll stand and stare anytime if I can.😃
Nobody annoys me if they’re being slow, as they don’t do it on purpose, but friends who are always late cos they’re disorganised annoy me.

My partner jokes when I start galloping, he says i thought we were going there together
I have another problem with my busy mind. Often my brain is ahead of my body.
It caught me out a while ago. My brain had turned to do something but my body was a second behind so I trod on my own foot, went flying and broke a toe 😂

Urmstongran I’ve never thought that 5’7” is particularly tall.😄
I have a friend and neighbour who’s tall, she’s 5’11”.

Often my brain is ahead of my body.

Oh, that does happen to me frequently, MerylStreep. I'm thinking of what I have to do next and whoops 😲

I am trying to be more mindful now 😃

I am quite quick to start with, whether walking or any other activity, but these days I need to take lots of breaks to pace myself. Maybe I am lazy. Trouble is, I get on Forums or browsing on the internet and then nothing gets done.

I am speedy. I am driven to distraction by the speed with which DH loads the dishwasher.

lixy Sat 28-Jan-23 19:57:15

Not as fast as I used to be but still pretty efficient at getting from A to B.
People who weave around and dawdle in the middle of supermarket aisles drive me to distraction, otherwise I'm pretty patient (I think!).

Poppyred Sat 28-Jan-23 20:01:02

My DH takes 4 times as long as everyone else to do things…..drives me to,distraction! Also leaves everything to the very last minute. I call him last minute.com

I do all I have to do as soon as it needs doing…so that the rest of the day is mine and tomorrow is a clean sheet.

Another speedy one here. Dh is slow! 😤.
Last week we decided to varnish the front door. I got everything out of the shed, - cloths, varnish, floor protectors etc. He decided to go to the shed for a paintbrush.
By the time he got back to me, and then went to the loo, I had finished the door. 🤔

I must have a lot of short friends Oreo! I always feel ‘tall’.
😁

I seem to be with the men folk on here .... 🤣

Another tortoise here...but a speedy rabbit inside my head, lol.🐌🐇

GrannyGravy13 Sat 28-Jan-23 20:37:21

I am 5’2” sometimes I am speedy other times not so.

I alternate between wandering and taking in all around and being the proverbial pocket rocket

I can whip round a supermarket in no time, in a favourite department store, garden centre or beach front paseo I am a tortoise.

Callistemon21 Sat 28-Jan-23 20:39:13

The tortoise and the hare comes to mind

I usually speed along with most things but my health problems have slowed me down a bit. The other thing I do and don't know if anyone else does, I think of things and am convinced I've told my husband when it's still in my head. It has caused a few disagreements. grin

Elusivebutterfly Sat 28-Jan-23 21:25:29

I've always been fast. I walked fast, was always on the go, read fast, typed fast etc. but am not able to do it any more.

HowVeryDareYou Sat 28-Jan-23 21:28:15

I used to do everything at speed - I worked, did things around the house, did Zumba 4 times a week, but then had a stroke 17 months ago and although I'm 95% recovered, I simply cannot do anything quickly now. People who rush about now irritate me

Ali23 Sat 28-Jan-23 21:32:00

I used to be very speedy , although i could always slow down to a very very slow oace when working with certain people. Nowadys my thinking and my pace are slowing, but when I'm focussed on a task my speed picks up somewhat.
I’m in no rush nowadays, and I’m glad of it.

Granmarderby10 Sat 28-Jan-23 21:51:16

Well with me it’s like this: I like to see what there is to be seen in the shops, or I feel I might be missing out and so I take as long as it takes, because I have nothing to rush for.
Generally if I haven’t got the time to do something I don’t bother unless it is urgent or absolutely vital.
However, best get out my way if I am on a mission eg floors to vacuum or mop, beds to strip and remake or pots to wash and a meal to prep 🌪️

PerkyPiggy Sat 28-Jan-23 22:06:47

I do everything quickly. I walk faster than all of my friends. I clean the house quickly, eat quicker than most other people I know, shower quickly etc. My husband is very similar to me but he gets up hills quicker because he takes deeper strides.

BigBertha1 Sat 28-Jan-23 22:18:38

I'm fast with tasks slow with walking since developing lumbar spinal stenosis. DH is fast fast fast at everything...I must be driving him mad.

MayBee70 Sat 28-Jan-23 22:23:29

I remember how I hated walking anywhere with my poor MIL who had had polio; I just couldn’t walk that slow. And we did a charity walk when I was still working and no one could keep up with me. Alas, my walking is so slow these days I get on my own nerves and seem to find excuses not to walk anywhere (too cold, too wet etc).

I hope he's patient with you.

I can't believe the impatience and lack of consideration for others in some posts.

Granmarderby10 Sat 28-Jan-23 22:47:08

Here is the thing though. My partner returned to the house 3 times because he forgot essentials for the morning dog walk.
I believe he stresses himself out with his totally unnecessary clock watching⏱️
I still blame the parents🤷🏼‍♀️
