In view an the excellent thread about us often looking backwards, let's have a thread about looking forwards then.
So, have you anything planned for the next few months?
Would you like to achieve something? Go somewhere?
Learn something new? Meet someone new?
Anything, as long as it involves looking forwards.
I would certainly like to travel somewhere new and hope I achieve that at least.

All sounds wonderful Lindylou

This morning I managed to buy tickets for The Who in July for me and my daughter. We had tickets to go 3 years ago but it was cancelled because of Covid so getting the new tickets has really cheered me out of my February gloom. We already have tickets for Springsteen in June, that will be our 8th Springsteen gig (I think, I've lost track).

Also spring is just round the corner so I am getting excited about getting the Japanese section finished this year. It was laid out last year and 3 new maple trees planted so now we can build the pond etc.

Lastly I have more long afternoons to look forward to, building Duplo mansions with my 2 year old DGS. He is the master builder, I am just the assistant who sources the right blocks for him out of the pile of Duplo!

Looking forward to light mornings and light nights. Sitting on my front lawn reading my Kindle. Looking through our stable front door onto the Green.

Our rescue dog from Djerba will finally arrive on 19th- after months of waiting. She will need a lot of patience, love and training, and walking, and we are ready smile

Thank you. I don’t have grand plans and haven’t been on holiday for many years but my very simple life holds great pleasures.

Of course you do, Diggingdoris. 💐 All I have on my list is enjoying seeing the different seasons with the simple pleasures they each bring, the flowers coming out, feeling the warmth of the sun and watching the birds nesting. But that’s enough.

beautiful...

Serendipity22 That is one joyous post. I hope you have an absolutely blissful time 😁

Norah Fri 03-Feb-23 13:33:04

Diggingdoris I don't go out alone other than walking the dog or essential shopping. So my pleasure is keeping myself busy in the garden, and looking forward to visits from AC and grandchildren.

Dog walking, AC and GC visits are the best of life to me as well. I love to garden and cook - for AC and GC to enjoy with us!

Ohhhh what an uplifting post....

Yes I want to add my thrilling looking forward reply.

I am looking forward SO MUCH to visiting my favourite place on earth- South of France in June..... 😊.

Give you a little background as to why i love it so much ..... right, so i visited Port Grimaud ( opposite St Tropez ) about 20 years ago and i fell in love with the South of France instantly. I am useless at the speaking the language so it isnt a case of I fit in perfectly in that way, i don't know, I just love it so very much. I have been with my husband, took my mum 3 times and pushed her absolutely everywhere, it was BRILLIANT, she loved it, been with friends, been ON MY OWN, totted about in 3" heels, ohhhh I felt ABSOLUTELY CAREFREE AND FULFILLED, now the 3" heels are replaced by a walking stick ( well..... several in different colours to match each outfit ) and a wheelchair but despite the fact I have changed .... THE SOUTH OF FRANCE HASN'T.

I sit outside the Cafe de Paris in MONTE CARLO, I take ride on the merry-go-round in Nice ( bugger to cock my leg up now hahaha ) I sit at pavement cafes along the Promenade taking in the atmosphere while telling myself IM BACK.. IM RIGHT HERE... IM GETTING MY FIX.

So THAT is what I am looking forward to ( so very much yipeeeee )

😃

faye17 yes I agree, I have many of those, but when I hear about people doing things I'd love to do I can't help but feel sad.

Some of my happiest memories are of family days in the garden 🤗

I'm really looking forward to some holidays we have planned here and abroad but I'm a bit concerned this awful Tory government is going to mess up rail transport by failing to resolve the strikes and passport queues caused by Brexit.

Watching the garden wake up, the snowdrops are opening and the daffodils will soon be here.

Looking after our grandchildren for the weekend at the end of the month, luckily followed by a long weekend at a Warner Hotel which we had already booked and will be ideal to relax and recover (they are nearly 2 and 4 and real live wires)

Then we have just booked a cruise round the Scottish Islands for May. Really excited as I have always wanted to go but they are a long way from Dorset! but this cruise sails from Southampton,

Looking forward also to carnival here in Germany especially dressing up ! Love the floats and happy ,happy faces on Rosenmontag

Diggingdoris Thu 02-Feb-23 11:48:24

I'm feeling a bit envious of the exciting things some of you have planned. Since DH's stroke we don't go out much anymore. He can't walk far and needs to sit with his legs raised, so going to theatres, meals out or holidays are just not possible. He needs my help a lot so I don't go out alone other than walking the dog or essential shopping. So my pleasure is keeping myself busy in the garden, and looking forward to visits from AC and grandchildren.

Retiring!

Yes its great fun. Its been a years since we last went but our children loved it. Especially the sweets flung off the processions. Oh and the children's beer. We liked the grown up beer smile and the music.

Is that the Karneval Norah?

Yes. Germany do Monday (Montag) and other areas/countries do Shrove Tuesday. We like the Rhineland Karnevals.

I am looking forward to the cooler months which usually start in May where we live. We have five days booked at a dog friendly house on the coast so looking forward to walking along the beach with our beautiful border collie.
Sounds idyllic Austin- a especially as I hear the wind howling at the window 😅
