I would take them out for a meal when you got there. Alternatively you could ask them what they miss most that they cannot buy over there.

You will be unable to take any foodstuff as Australia has very strict rules and it is prohibited to take any foodstuff at all into the country with large fines in place.

A fun British souvenir, but something useful. Plenty of this sort of thing at airport shops, such as teatowels, oven gloves, cushions, pencils. If edibles are out of the question, maybe a small cookery book to remind them of typical British dishes they may have forgotten.

If they lived in the same town as you, a local souvenir of a similar kind.

For a more personal idea, put together a photo album of the places they used to frequent so that they can see what they are like now.

You can take certain edibles but packaged and unopened.

You can't take wooden items generally although I have done and declared them at Customs. They were allowed through.

Is there anything they miss from home? Probably not, though, as they've never been back.

That's a good idea, particularly as you'll be travelling round before you meet up.
It could be rolled and put into a tube.

You could get it framed there.
