Reading a word and hearing it at the same time…

I recall the sounds of words and phrases as I read them because I need to know what they sound like. If I am doing arithmetic I don't need to know what words and phrases sound like. As I type this I am not hearing my words because I am thinking ideas that would be the same if they were shouted or whispered.

If I am reading something that involves feelings of any sort then I remember the sounds of the words. For instance a lot of poetry is about feelings of one sort or another and the poet has chosen words carefully so as to convey feelings from the sounds of the words.

I know I’ve mentioned this before but it’s freaking me out at the moment. Because I’m usually reading things on my iPad and have the tv or podcasts on as well I constantly hear and read the same word. The other day I read a whole phrase just as it was spoken on the tv. And it was something really obscure. I could understand if it was frequently used words or phrases but it isn’t. And it happens several times a day!
