Welcome Katcoffee 👋

Katcoffee Mon 06-Feb-23 13:49:44

She’s just 1 so I have a bit of time to get it organised

Grammaretto Mon 06-Feb-23 13:35:26

Welcome Katcoffee. That's a nice job to be doing. How old is DGD1?

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 06-Feb-23 13:25:09

Welcome Katcoffee 👋

Katcoffee Mon 06-Feb-23 13:22:04

Good morning I’m new to Gransnet. It’s brilliant sunshine on the south coast. Busily clearing out ds2 old room to make into a bedroom for dgd1 when she comes to stay.

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 06-Feb-23 12:17:01

I’m very late this morning.
Just has an assessment to see if I can join a Pilates class, which I haven’t done for 5 years now. The answer is yes!! I start this coming Thursday evening in the local school.
Also, I’ve bitten the bullet and booked train tickets to Edinburgh then onward by bus to Kinross, for my DSIL and me, our first trip since February 2020. We used to do this two or three times a year. 🤞there are no rail strikes planned for then. Got a good deal, two 1st Class returns for £51.00 each !!!
Glad Md is feeling brighter. Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 06-Feb-23 11:48:22

Taichinan you are very kind, but I'm only doing what I can to help dd and sil. I feel privileged to spend time with them and the boys. Dgs2 is having a nap at the moment and I could do with one too!

Ziplok Mon 06-Feb-23 11:47:49

Sorry, sunset, not sunrise.

Ziplok Mon 06-Feb-23 11:46:51

Morning all,
A nice day here, but cold and frosty.
A beautiful sunrise sky, Bluebalou. Nature is often quite stunning.
I hope you find your necklace, BlueSapphire 🤞🏼
Glad you feel less “foggy” today Marydoll. Try to take it easy if you can.
Hope you got your appointment at the hospital clarified Mick.

Good morning from a bright and sunny south Hants. Busy morning today so I’m late to this party!
Lovely weekend spent cuddling DGDs and now back to normal. Have got washing machine on and have washed kitchen/dining room plus hall floors, so am taking a well earned rest before taking DDog for a walk.
DH has gone fishing but will hopefully be back in time for a spot of sofa hunting - oh yes I know how to spoil him! 😂. Of course we won’t agree (him on price and me on style!) but hey ho.
Just about to read your posts - have the best day you can.
Thinking of those that are poorly and those feeling low in spirit - I hope the sun comes out for you soon 🦩🦩🦩
🤗 and 🌻🌻 for you all x

hollysteers Mon 06-Feb-23 10:32:31

My new tv 🙄

hollysteers Mon 06-Feb-23 10:31:58

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside r coast.
DD left for the south yesterday. I helped remove a heavy framed mirror from the flat she is selling and I’m come to the end of my antibiotics for the dreaded tooth. I’ve felt listless taking them and didn’t go to the folk club last night but snuggled down with cat on my lap and worked out how to use me new tv.
Off soon to lunchtime concert and thoughts to all with worries.

Taichinan Mon 06-Feb-23 09:42:15

Good morning all from a lovely sunny start on the Angus coast. That sunset last night was so spectacular - lovely that it was seen so far and wide. This morning's sunrise brought with it what my late DH (an RAF navigator) called a sun-moon fix - the rising sun in the east illuminating the full moon in the west. With a clear blue sky in between them, it was a lovely start to the day - not difficult to find "an attitude of gratitude" on mornings like this!
Those poor souls in Turkey and Syria, Urms. A friend of mine, who lived in LA, told me once of being woken up by a tremor (back in the early 80s I think). She said it was terrifying and she and her DH could do nothing but cling to each other in bed. It lasted for only a few seconds, and no damage was done. And that was just a tremor .......
I had a lovely weekend with DD and DGD3 and did so enjoy DGD's netball match. My presence and cheering unfortunately didn't have the desired effect though. They are the team with the youngest average age (and consequently the least experience) in the league, so that elusive win will come no doubt.
I hope you like the flat your DD recommends, grandmattie - that would make your move so much easier.
Lovely to hear all the stories of burgeoning Spring. I do hope that farmer isn't right in his predictions, Liberty - although I suspect he may well be. February likes to have the last word in winter 😉
Grandmabatty you really are the best grandma (that's harking back to your post yesterday and the story of the playdoh!). What fun you are!
Glad all is well now - or at least 90% better - Marydoll. Your poor DH must have been so worried - it really is worse for the loved ones of the poorly as they feel so helpless. An extra big hug for him.
All your doings make me feel so lazy, and to add to that my window cleaner has just been and caught me again still snuggled in my oodie. So off I trot to at least look busy. I know - as starters I shall hang the washing out!!
Have your best day everyone x

Blossoming Mon 06-Feb-23 09:16:08

Good morning everyone from a cold bright Lancashire, currently 0°C.

I have been enjoying my daily walks so hoping there is no ice about today.

Happy Monday all 🦩🦩

Good morning , off soon to replenish the fridge ! It’s a nothing morning as described anther day by someone on the good morning thread
I am grateful that Michael put up this thread , it sorts my memory as to date date and time !
Marydoll I’ve never heard the Song of the Clyde to the end , it is a tear jerker , I was born in Glasgow before the war , but many moves since then

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny, sparkling South Yorkshire. Yes, the frost is back. I cooked curry for DD and her menfolk yesterday and it went down well. We played silly games afterwards. Nice to play games again. Now that I am back in my car I am going to have my haircut later this morning. First time for about ten weeks. It will be nice to see my lovely hairdresser but she will have her work cut out!
Enjoy your day folks.

Pittcity Mon 06-Feb-23 09:06:21

Thanks for your commiserations but they're only things. It's annoying but easily remedied.
Far bigger things to worry about!

Georgesgran Mon 06-Feb-23 09:02:28

Good morning from Durham. There was a beautiful dawn today after last night’s spectacular sunset. I’m spending the week between my house and DD2’s as her DH is away and she’ll appreciate some help with DGS2. She manages amazingly well, but if it helps her for me to help - so be it.
A lovely post from Marydoll obviously truly loved by her friends and family.
Must dash - need to nip into the Bank on my way to DD2 to pay for my new car.
Best wishes to all. X

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a bright frosty Hull. We have a lovely week of sun forecast.
Yesterday when the family came they were out the back playing in the garden it was so warm. We have a south west facing garden so it soon warms up. Toys everywhere but lovely to see, it really feels like spring is on the way with the bulbs sprouting up. It cheered us all and my lamb dinner went down very well.
This morning I have yoga and later picking up GS from school. I need to tidy the playroom and vac the house first.

Happy birthday to your son Grandmadinosaur 🎉

Gorgeous sunset pic Blue.

Marydoll 💐

Terrible news from Turkey this morning.

Have a lovely Monday hopefully bringing moments of joy. Thinking of those struggling with worries and stress🌻🌻

ginny Mon 06-Feb-23 08:57:29

Good morning from a frosty but blue sunny sky N. Bucks,
Lots of jobs to do today and will be making soup.
Art class this evening.
Wishing all a good day.

luluaugust Mon 06-Feb-23 08:54:02

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Sadly off to a funeral this morning of a lovely lady who worked with DH for many years and I used to talk to outside the local newsagents.
Two GD's start mock GCSE's today and there is a lot of finger crossing going on, they have very different personalities and abilities but are both dreading the maths paper.
Take care everyone.

Alygran Mon 06-Feb-23 08:51:21

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear and sunny today after an overnight frost.
Some ironing to do then off to get my hair cut in town. After that I need to find a lightweight waterproof jacket for my upcoming holiday. I’m off to Central America where it will be warm but possibly wet.
Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Mon 06-Feb-23 08:50:10

Good morning all and it’s a lovely one here in Essex.

Dh was talking about going fishing but I think it’s still too cold for him. My U3A meeting is this afternoon and my friend and I want to book some trips, so we’ll go along. Sometimes the speakers are 🥱😴😴, so we sit at the back for a quick exit. 😂.

Late afternoon we had our slow cooked gammon and veg - very tasty but during the evening we both had upset tums 😳. Not sure why, all fresh ingredients but I’ve thrown the rest away. What a waste! 🙄.

Glad you’re feeling brighter MD . How lovely to sing along with wee Dolly. The best medicine!

Hope your migraine has disappeared Ash. Take it easy today.

Bluebalou what a fantastic sky. I’ve ordered a painting by numbers too. I’m looking forward to having a go.

Have the best day!

Grammaretto Mon 06-Feb-23 08:45:04

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I admired that sunset yesterday heralding good news for shepherds wink

A walk this morning and more sorting and decluttering this afternoon with my helpful over enthusiastic friend.

That song of the Clyde makes me cry Marydoll it's silly but I always well up.
Both my DGF left Clydeside as young men for foreign shores and never returned.

I am glad you are feeling better.

Sorry for your triple calamities Pittcity and hope you get sorted.
I hope you approve of your DD 's choice gMattie. The move is sounding smooth so far and you can do with an easier time. flowers

Wishing everyone a good day with sunshine and smiles

EkwaNimitee Mon 06-Feb-23 08:43:00

Good Morning Mick and everyone from frosty, sunny Carlisle where it was -2C when I got up. Finally, I am eating breakfast in daylight and almost eating dinner in it too. Spring bulbs are thrusting up in the garden and leaves sprouting on bushes. So I feel spring is just about here. This I tell myself every year and generally an unpleasant surprise weatherwise turns up sooner or later!
It was a lazy day indoors yesterday, reading the papers and doing some boring admin though that was enlivened by finding my premium bonds had come up trumps again like last month...not yet the million by any means but better than the usual little £25. I dream of making my trips to Australia first class....
Today the usual housework and laundry. I swear Monday comes round twice a week!

Onwards and upwards Marydoll, I hope you soon feel your old self again.
Have a good day everyone.
