I've lost my cleaning mojo

How do I get it back?

I was always an energetic person with a spotless house because I couldn't sit still.

After a period of illness where I couldn't do much then returning to work full time after recovery... I just can't seem to get motivated any more.

I'm on holiday this week and all the energy I put into working should be available but I'm still just overwhelmed and unable to get started

I can only describe it like my batteries are flat and I just haven't got the energy.

It's not that bad, daily tasks are getting done but I've lost my excitement for making a room spotless or reorganising a cupboard or doing some DIY and I feel so guilty about it and a bit like I've lost something.

Any advice?

I think that I had to take the loading dose for a week or two, and then swap to the otc stuff

Hello VS
My hair stopped falling out almost immediately.
I can’t say that I felt any other benefits (other than good nails) as it was at the time when I got really bad with my hip etc.
I do wonder though if it (the lack of vitamin D) affected my bones.
My hair had been falling out for several years before I got to the bottom of it.
I was also peri menopause at the time but didn’t know it (my health is a catalogue of ostrich / sand type events)

How long does it take to successfully get levels up and feel better?

FannyCornforth Sat 18-Feb-23 13:07:16

Callistemon if you are Vitamin D deficient your GP will prescribe you a high loading dose first.
The over the counter tablets won’t touch it.
My hair was falling out really, really badly a few years back due to a lack of vitamin D

I’ve found mine! I employed a cleaner yesterday!

I had those tests to check my thyroid function a month ago, I only found out the results because I thought I'd ring and check after this conversation, I'd assumed they were fine.if no call

I asked for a call back and didn't get one so I think I'm going to make an appointment and ask

If the GP thinks you are anaemic, they should prescribe it in easily absorbed form.

When mine was just below par I told the GP I'd bought Floradix tablets and she nodded sagely and said they were fine but didn't prescribe anything else.

I do take vitamin D and it definitely makes a difference

This centrum silver has 100% for iron and B12 but only 23% for calcium so will ask the doctor about it

If anyone finds my cleaning mojo, please keep it.

I've been trying for years, they just don't behave.

Maybe there is a better solution, I'll ask, I'm tired of thin hair and brittle nails

Last year my nails were better than they've ever been.
This February they're breaking, peeling and splitting again.

I wondered if Vitamin D was the answer? I do take some, not every day, but perhaps the natural version from sunshine is better.

I'd be seriously worried if I ever enjoyed those things - so maybe you've recovered from it?

Lol! Maybe

I too like my home to be spotlessly and tidy and actually enjoy housework. However, I too suffer days when I completely lose my mojo. Have you looked on YouTube? There are loads and loads of videos on there, made by people who like to clean. I find them very motivational. Just type "clean with me" into YouTube and see where it takes you.

If I get it done straight away, I'll have 2 weeks to relax and enjoy

That's the spirit VioletSky - I find that if I can just get started on a job, the doing of it is not the problem. I spend some time thinking exactly how I'm going to approach it; I find this makes it easier once you summon up the energy to actually start, too.

I can try

I have some Centrum Silver so I'm going to give that a solid try

Violetsky have you tried taking high dose good quality fish oils for your hair and nails?

sazz1 Fri 17-Feb-23 20:08:17

I try and do an hour or half hour cleaning upstairs ie bedrooms and bathroom then next day the same downstairs
Often skip days and the hour doesn't include washing ironing cooking or loading the dishwasher.
Not doing anything atm as we have had DD DS and 3 DGC here for the week. Just did most of their washing while OH did cooking. Hectic week lol

Your iron levels are what my Dr would call outside the safe levels
I’m just inside the safe high level at 45.

Not wearing your glasses until you know visitors are due is highly recommended!

foxie48 Fri 17-Feb-23 19:07:55

The best way of not seeing dust is to have dirty glasses, the only problem with that though is the world becomes rather foggy. It's always a complete shock to clean my glasses and arrive in a brighter but dirtier world!

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 17-Feb-23 18:24:33

Mine is very visible, unfortunately.

Kim19 Fri 17-Feb-23 18:03:29

There's an advert on tv for a vacuum which even finds the invisible dust. That's the kind of dust I have.

VioletSky Fri 17-Feb-23 16:30:46

My thyroid levels are good 🙂

VioletSky Fri 17-Feb-23 16:21:28

I have just rang for my latest bloods

She said iron 26 and low calcium
