I need a break. I need it.

I still have 3 children at home and a husband though. So I plan on asking for an evening to myself...
DO NOT DISTURB.

What is your perfect evening at home? What would you do?
What are your ideas to have some proper relaxing alone time?

Also did I spell disturb right? It looks wrong

Marking and prep done. DGC back at home. An evening with a book by my current favourite author and an André Rieu concert in the background.
I could also binge watch the Big Bang Theory quite happily.

One of the few pros from being a widow living alone. Opera from the Met totally uninterrupted to know where something is, knowing that the special thing I have saved for lunch will still be in the fridge, being able to leave a job in the middle, to take a walk, and know that nothing will have been moved while I was out. But top choice will be to listen to wonderful J S Bach probably double violin concerto or st matthews passion and just be in the moment.

I have been on my own since my divorce in 1988 and this evening will be perfect for me.

A warm house, a really nice supper about to be cooked by me and 2 programmes to watch on TV which I really enjoy. All that is missing is a glass or three of wine but I finished that bottle last night and that is enough alcohol for at least a week.

or even the Big Bang Theory

School holidays just finishing here and last night I was alone.
Ate up all the leftovers and binge watched Big Bank Theory
even though I've seen it before, it was bliss.

Freshly made beds are the best

I need to get on top of making it earlier though instead of the horrifying discovery it needs doing when I'm ready to sleep

It is nice when being alone is a treat, you appreciate it so much more.

Curled up in a chair in front of the blazing stove with a new good book to read, having first spent a couple of hours in the garden

BlueBalou Sun 19-Feb-23 14:02:51

The perfect evening would be a lovely bath, freshly made bed, a good book and a cup of milky coffee 😄

BlueBalou Sun 19-Feb-23 14:01:45

I’ve always loved my own company, I have a number of hobbies that keep me occupied 😊

JaneJudge Sun 19-Feb-23 13:55:06

ParlorGames

A bottle of red, a box of dark chocolates, some savoury nibbles and a good book.

this would result in me spending the following day alone in bed with a migraine grin

JaneJudge Sun 19-Feb-23 13:52:59

a nice warm bath, pyjamas on, chilled cava in the fridge and a film to watch!

I'm also in a house of men. It does get a bit much sometimes, doesn't it?

If you dont enjoy your own company how can you expect others to enjoy it?

AGAA4 Sun 19-Feb-23 13:44:39

Most of my evenings are spent alone but I am content on my own.
I usually get into my night clothes and relax with a film or a good series.

Norah Sun 19-Feb-23 13:37:53

I prefer alone with my husband. That amount of alone is my perfect.

Hiraeth Sun 19-Feb-23 13:34:07

Very wise words Maw

VioletSky Sun 19-Feb-23 13:25:29

I think I am starting to see a possible evening for myself in others comments 🙂

BlueSapphire Sun 19-Feb-23 12:13:53

My perfect evening would be to spend it with my much-missed DH, a bottle of wine and Sinatra in the background.

ParlorGames Sun 19-Feb-23 12:11:01

A bottle of red, a box of dark chocolates, some savoury nibbles and a good book.

I enjoy evenings when I've been out for lunch with congenial company. I then relax and reflect. Lovely.

timetogo2016 Sun 19-Feb-23 12:04:37

I love Friday evenings,Dh goes out for a few hours and i am in my oil tot.
I don`t even answer the front door.

BigBertha1 Sun 19-Feb-23 07:35:27

I would love an evening on my own with my daughter, a few well chosen magazines and a bottle of nicely chilled Chablis or two.

NotAGran55 Sun 19-Feb-23 07:28:40

Listening to my football team on the radio playing an away match and winning , glass of wine and giving myself a manicure and pedicure.

GagaJo Sun 19-Feb-23 05:48:45

Heating on. Cats fed, so drowsy (they're such nags). Clean, tidy and empty house.

TV, something gripping like Happy Valley. Some nice food to pick at over a couple of hours. Cup of tea.

Later, up to a tidy bedroom with the bed made.

I never get it. Bits, but never all at once.

I've been alone for 15 years and love it now. Just a well as I don't have any choice really. I like some favourite TV in the evenings or read my library book. It's not exciting but I'm mostly content.

I’ve been alone for the past 22 years (divorce). Thank God, I have the best of all worlds. All 3 AC and their families live in a 10 mile radius. But we don’t live in each others’ pockets. Visiting is planned, even with my divorced daughter.
I love a day or two to myself sans-visits, sans-phonecalls, sans music, sans TV. I love the silence…gives me a chance to think of what needs to be done, decluttering, doing codicils for my Will etc etc etc. I have got so much. collected over the years, some rubbish. But has to be sorted.
