Good Morning Monday 20th February 2023

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. This should be a typical Monday - shopping and laundry - but I’ve also got things to take to a Charity shop and a bedside light to collect for the new room. I have a batch of WI admin too. Minutes to type up from last Wednesday and a new member whose details I have to put on the system. My right thumb hasn’t really eased yet but I will leave sending an Engage consult message a little longer. Have a good day everyone.

I'm tempted to go to my allotment and get on with some work there ahead of my knee replacement in less than a month. Breakfast at Wetherspoons, just across the road from my flat, first maybe. I, too, have started sniffling - haven’t got time for a cold! Your photos are lovely ladies. On Saturday went to the church coffe morning then decided to go across to the library, where I found they had an Islam day with food and people trying to convert us! I kind of forgot why I had gone there! It was church yesterday, with a visiting minister who seemed to have forgotten that we had homes to go to, I missed my bus of course. Today it’s a telephone day for catching up with my school friend and my sisters.
Yes, Mick be careful, you don’t want to gets any bugs now.

Beautiful photos this morning.
Spring hasn’t sprung yet in these parts. There are lots of shoots poking through but they’re a while away from flowering.

It was very pleasant to meet with many of the female members of DH’s family at yesterday’s baby shower, many of whom I hadn’t seen for several years.

Today we are off to the coast for a few days. Our hotel sits almost on the beach and in good weather the views over to the Isle of Arran are beautiful, however if this weather keeps up we’ll be lucky to catch a glimpse of it. Not to worry, I’m looking forward to relaxing and enjoying nice food.

Good morning from a sunny and very mild Suffolk. Yesterday afternoon was so lovely that we opened up the summerhouse and spent an hour there reading the papers. In February…..how unusual.

We have a large natural pond in the garden which,for the first time in nearly 40 years,dried up totally in the summer and we thought it would probably never fill up again. We have had a pair of moorhens living in the side of the pond who have raised a clutch of babies every spring. Wonderful to watch as they swim and the parents tweet furiously to call them back.

The pair disappeared as the pond dried up. In spite of there having been no rain here for several weeks the pond has filled up so the water table must have risen and the moorhens are back! DH saw them last night as he took the dog out for her evening walk. Isn’t nature wonderful and reasurring in these very difficult and tragic times.

Good morning from an overcast Sefton. I have been in 'sick bay' for the past few weeks with a very unpleasant bout of something viral that wasn't covid or flu. My posts would have been very ground hog day - slept late, got up eventually, tried to eat something, rested, early night....rinse, repeat. I did read your posts & was glad to see Mick has got his surgery date. Take care Mick there are some nasty bugs out there. And lovely to see that gMattie has found a suitable flat.
I am going to singing this morning in an attempt to get back into routine & normality but suspect I might be doing more croaking than singing....... I could mime! Might try a potter in the garden this afternoon as 'double figures' are forecast.

Good morning from the south coast where it’s a greyish morning after bright blue sky yesterday. A full days gardening yesterday has left me with aching knees today but it’s worth it. The daffodils are coming out slowly and a few snowdrops and crocus are in bloom. We cleared a lot of debris over the past year after moving here and it’s interesting seeing bulbs coming up as a result. A quieter day today with a trip to Tesco and the pharmacy.

I envy your visits to Cambridge brook and now Grammaretto, my sister took me there once when I was staying with her in Corby and I have always wanted to go back for a proper visit I loved the detective novels set there in mediaeval times too-needless to say I can’t remember the author!

Post school childminding again today, can’t wait to see them after the midterm break last week. I have junior Lenten journey booklets for them to be filled in, they will love that (not)😂.

It was so warm yesterday - again no heating on , sitting in the conservatory with the door open, playing games with little gd.
She had some homework to do and then we read some books together. A lovely afternoon. Always have a laugh with DD with tears rolling down . 🤣. I do worry about her health though! She doesn’t seem to worry about it too much!

Not much on today and will take life as it comes. That’s all we can do! 🙏.

Eldest gd coming home from Uni today , so will have a lovely catch up with her sometime this week. ❤️.

Good morning from Durham. Another very windy night, but the fence is still standing - it’s being looked at tomorrow.
Mick I fear you won’t heed GN advice, don’t understand why, but perhaps your expected phone call will clarify things.
Must get a new battery in my watch and DD1 has given me hers, as she had a new battery, a couple of months ago, but her watch has stopped - this could be expensive.

We are having paving laid at the front of the house today, part of the lawn is constantly muddy and waterlogged, it’s only a tiny area next to the drive. I can hear the men chattering outside, I am letting Mr.B deal with them! No plans for today, just general pottering.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from an overcast but unseasonably warm South Yorkshire. We also had a lovely sunset last night. GS was doing some homework in the conservatory (under duress) and called me through to see it (any excuse to put his pen down). We all went out into the garden to watch it. He and his mum and dad came over for a roast dinner. Today I’m going to the garden centre and then I’ll do some pruning in my garden if it stays dry. I’m late with the roses this year.

Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy wet Carlisle.
Won't be in the garden today I think! Yesterday I put in some bluebell plants hoping they will spread and a bergenia. I'm another whose hebes have died, they're small enough to dig up. Other plants I am leaving to see if they will recover. I've never had plant death on this scale before. Other plants are burgeoning though and I'm very pleased with the drifts of snowdrops and crocuses I put in the front lawn.
Today is the usual round of housework and laundry plus some admin, the latter seems never-ending!

Scaffolding removal due today but will believe it when I see it. U3A this morning so with luck they will have been when I get home.

Dry this morning which is welcome so gardener can get on with fence painting - a job a bit like the Forth Bridge but not as interesting. Flower club this evening and something in the diary every day though much of it trivia. Hope the week starts well for everyone.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry and still out. Mild enough too I think. We’ve had no need of any heating on this past week anyway.

Half term is over in Trafford. The Boy Wonder and L’il Miss back in their primary school, their mum in another in which she teaches full time. Our son in law has a new job so this morning our daughter had to get the children and herself up ready and out by 7:30am. She said it’s like a military operation on her own. Clothes set out the night before and exactly one hour to be dressed, breakfasted, teeth and hair and in the car to be dropped off at the childminder's house.

When I awoke at 8am she’ll have been in work.

We are taking the children to their swimming lessons tonight but other than that we have no plans. Might go for a walk later and get coffees in the square to go.

Good morning from the NE where we have gale force winds again, had to wear earplugs to get to sleep.
Yesterday was a lovely day with DD and SIL, our bistro lunch was really good and I had tarte tatin for dessert.
DD is back on the train to Brussels this afternoon, hoping there are no delays with strikes, she now has a Belgian passport which makes things a little easier for her.
Take care Mick, you need to protect yourself from infection in case it delays your operation. Not a good idea to be travelling on buses every day.

Good morning from Glasgow, 11deg. and blowing a hooley since the early hours.

Another stunning sunrise for me to enjoy seeing kittyand such a beautiful shade of blue crocus Ash, no sign of them in our garden yet but we do have pretty snowdrops, a welcome sign that spring is on it way. Just wish it would hurry up and get here!

Hatches battened and looking forward to coorying doon at some point in the day to pick up my latest book, Pieces of Her - Karin Slaughter. I enjoy her books which for me, once I have started, I can’t put down….almost burned dinner last night!

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Hopefully it will turn to sun as it did yesterday. We had a lovely day visiting DS, DIL and GD for lunch and a catch up. They were away over half term so lots to chat about. Today DH and I are off to local shopping centre to get a voucher for SIL2.

Good morning from a grey 10° on the Angus coast. It's breezy out now, but sounded quite something during the night. I have really bad tinnitus but it doesn't usually produce clanking and rattling sounds 😉
What lovely photos on here today - the spring flower displays (wonderful description Whitewave) from down south have made my solitary daffodil hang its little trumpet in shame! That photo of yours, Grammaretto, of daffodils beneath a tree in Cambridge, looked so like my garden will be at the beginning of April. A few years ago I read somewhere about the time it takes for Spring to travel northwards from the south coast, so I consulted Mr Google to remind myself. Apparently it takes about three weeks at about 1.8 mph! So my prediction for my host of daffodils is not far out.
Now I must off and get ready to go out for coffee and maybe probably a bite of lunch with some friends later. We're going to a wee place down at the beach in the town where, amongst many other things, we will no doubt discuss our next "tai chi on the beach" event .......

Dsister leaves for the south today and I will get back to practising, I’m singing at the music club tomorrow and haven’t sung a note since last Wednesday.
We had a quiet day yesterday and I don’t envy her the long drive home.
