Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry out there in brackley hopefully mild as well .
I never ventured far yesterday doing bits and bobs in my flat plus watching cycling and was awaiting a phone call from the hospital in banbury as a pre op assessment over the phone, which never happened.
My main worry next week if my surgery goes ahead is the strikes which are taking place .
Take Care,
Mick

Supermarket visit and admin today plus pancakes later with a friend. I am supplying the wine and wondering what goes well with them.

Hope Mick’s arrangements work out - so distressing, not being sure - and that the travellers all reach their destinations safely.

Good morning all and it’s a bit dreary here in Essex.

I did a long dog walk yesterday and we have to pass the groomers on the way to the fields. Little pooch pulled and looked straight ahead hoping we weren’t going in for her ‘usual’. ‘😂.

Bridge club this afternoon and pancakes for tea. Only ever make them on pancake day 🤔.

Hope your busy day goes according to plan GM. Especially as you’re not feeling 100%.🤞.

Lots of you having house improvements/repairs etc. it’s that time of year . Out with the old …… I think I’ll stick with the old , can’t face the upheaval.🤯.

Enjoy your flipping pancake day.🥞

You will miss olddudders Ashcombe hope he has a good journey back to France.

brook2704 Tue 21-Feb-23 08:00:04

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey, hopefully it’ll stay dry
Safe travels to your DH Ash, hope the journey goes well
Such a busy day gMattie, don’t know how you do it, take care
A few admin jobs for me today and not much else planned so hopefully I’ll get out in the garden for a bit more tidying
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrandMattie when I sold my parents retirement bungalow the management company were very cooperative and quick. We had to pay a fee so they would provide all necessary information rather than gathering it together ourselves but it was smooth. I would have thought the vendor would be in a hurry because while the flat is unsold they are paying management fees.
I hope it goes through quickly and you feel better soon.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South/Yorkshire where the sun is up and the weather looks promising at the moment. And it’s very mild. Mick what a disappointment, your missing phone call. I hate it when I wait in and that happens. I went to the garden centre yesterday and bought some plants, and saw a couple of roses I will get when I have pots big enough to put them in. I enjoyed the drive over as I went the pretty way - country roads, and at one point, you go over a rise and see a huge swathe of moorland at the edge of the city spread out before you - it’s breathtaking. I never tire of it and always want to head straight for it, but I’m not ready for rough country walking yet. Today a bit more garden tidying today while the weather holds.
Safe travels Ash, and anyone else on the road.
Have a good day, folks.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its currently 8°C.

Mick, it might be worthwhile contacting the hospital today to find out what is expected of you pre op and alleviate any anxiety.
Also, you don't want to jeopardise your surgery, by going out and about when you may be required to isolate beforehand.

Yesterday was yet another day of not being able to do much. There is a limit to how long one can lie about doing nothing!
A fellow gransnetter messaged me last night to inform me, that the husband of our old school friend and my bridesmaid, had died. It was quite a shock.

I have two face to face medical appointments today, so I need to summon up the energy to get out of bed and get dressed.

I hope your day isn't too stressful, GM.

Have a good day folks.

NannyJan53 Tue 21-Feb-23 07:49:08

Good morning from a grey, cloudy Black Country. We had glorious sunshine yesterday.

Gym this morning then a funeral this afternoon. It is MrJ's brothers MIL, I have never met her, just going as support really.

I can feel your discomfort Urmston and I would be the same. Hopefully the outcome will be positive.

Enjoy your day everyone

Grammaretto Tue 21-Feb-23 07:47:22

Good morning all from Cambridge. I've had a perfect few days here but travel home today trains permitting
An organ recital yesterday in one of the college chapels, coffee in the sunshine in a less well known café and home cooked food and excellent wine and company into the early hours.

I am sorryMick that your surgery is still uncertain. Fingers 🤌 for you.

Get better soon gMattie . Covid or not you should be keeping away from people this week, really .

Happy pancake day to you all.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 21-Feb-23 07:46:27

Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate.
You do sound very busy GrandMattie I hope you can arrange the move straightforward. Time will tell.
Safe journey for Oldudders Ash
I have my art club this morning and this afternoon it’s pancakes all round, I shall be making them for DDs and DGD and DH (And me) Unfortunately DGS will be with his dad.
We’ve also the repair man coming to fix my tumble dryer!
Have the best day possible folks

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. OH and I are hopefully having a day in Oxford. Lunch first and then the Labrynth exhibition at the Ashmolean. We are members so can simply turn up. Then a trip to a cheese monger where OH will exchange a voucher which elder son gave him for Christmas. Pancakes for dinner and OH will go to his bee course while I watch an old Midsummer Murder! That should be my day.

Ashcombe Tue 21-Feb-23 07:32:34

Many thanks for the kind wishes for the journey but it’s only being undertaken by olddudders. I drove him to NA for an early train and am now safely back in TQ. Sorry if that was unclear. 🥰

Pittcity Tue 21-Feb-23 07:32:29

Good morning from a grey Colchester. Another mild, dry day.
Charity shop volunteering as it's Tuesday and today we have a staff coffee morning which means bods from head office will turn up.
Love to all 🦩 x

Forsythia Tue 21-Feb-23 07:25:58

Good morning all from the south coast where it’s currently grey and overcast. The opticians this morning followed by a visit to a bathroom showroom this afternoon. Decisions to be made whether shower, bath or both. We will see what they suggest for our space.
Pancakes tonight! Diet on hold for one night.
Enjoy the day one and all where you can.

dragonfly46 Tue 21-Feb-23 07:25:16

Good morning from an overcast Leicestershire.

My cleaners are here this morning as well kitty. They haven’t been for 3 weeks! My gardener is coming too late morning.

I sorted out some of the shelves in my study yesterday. I try and do a little and often as we have so much unwanted clutter!

Good luck with the kitchen kitty. When we had ours done we blanched at the first price. We cut a few things out and whittled it down and eventually the guys selling it to us asked what we had expected to pay. We told them and they agreed! Since then we have been back to them several times as they are so fair. They even did my DD’s kitchen in London.

Safe travel Ashcombe and OldDudders and hope you manage to get things sorted out Mick it is very unsettling for you.

A dry non descript day here in Down South.

Ringing up a gov dept day for me today. Oh the joy,
Found that I was short in ni[I think] contributions from some years ago. Sent in the money last year. They seem to have lost it!
Read a week ago, that people can only pay for lost years that are recent, from April onwards, so need to chase up the missing money more urgently now.

Grandmachrisy47 Tue 21-Feb-23 07:19:03

Good morning all from a dry Co Durham.

DD2, dsil and dgd are flying off to the sun today, so we have custody of their two dogs. I say, we, but DH will have sole charge from Thursday as I’m off to bonnie Scotland with my dsil for three days. The first time in three years!! First Class to break ourselves in gently.

As someone mentioned I really need a notebook to remind myself of all you lovely posters. I get confused 😀.

Thank you for the recommendation for dry eye treatment it’s been so good.

We’ll not be venturing out as it’s Shrove Tuesday and our small town has a shrove Tuesday ‘event’ which takes over.

Have a good day.

Urmstongran Tue 21-Feb-23 07:10:53

Here’s Matt. On topic and as amusing as ever.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and seems mild enough. I can see the Pennine Ridge towards the east as the sky there is a pretty rose pink and apricot behind them. Promising a fine day ahead.

I’m meeting a friend for a walk mid morning. We will meet in the square below and I shall buy us coffees to go. I will use this opportunity to have a quiet word with her about something awkward she has told me. I hate confrontation but what she said three weeks ago has played on my mind and the topic needs to be discussed.

Hope Tuesday is good to us all.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 21-Feb-23 07:10:46

Good morning from the South Downs and happy shrove Tuesday.

Another dull day forecast. Trip to the tip as gradually clearing stuff that needs to be thrown out. Nothing else planned.

May all your pancakes be flipped successfully today🙂

Beechnut Tue 21-Feb-23 07:06:07

Good Morning everyone from a dry Severnside.

Off swimming this morning.
Yesterday I spent cleaning my car. I think it’ll do more to the gallon now it no longer has to carry all that dirt. I also cut all the new growth branches off my eucalyptus tree. I want to cut the trunk shorter so I’m able to manage it easier.

Safe travels all and have a good day 🌺

kittylester Tue 21-Feb-23 07:02:06

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it isn't raining and the temperature is 9°.

Exciting day ahead for the Lester's. Our cleaners will do their magic while dh and I go and see the proposal for the new kitchen. I suspect we might need a lie down afterwards.

This afternoon, a friend and I are going to see another friend's new flat in a new retirement complex. We are promised cake!!

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Tue 21-Feb-23 06:55:14

Good morning, s somerset is going to have uninteresting grey skies all day

Yesterday was good here, I did nice things and had the radio on for most of the day. Most time was spent in my sewing room and I made a new pattern, it was too big. I recut the pattern to fit my small neck area, unpicked the fabric, started again and now have a very well fitting attractive top for cooler springs. A different top pattern today, warm backed fabric with colour blocking and a cosy hood. I like something snuggly against my neck

The other job starts today. My wardrobe, I need to start the difficult sorting. Three piles, definite keep, definite out and unsure will do for starters. Thank goodness I found the salvation army clothes bank. They will be good usable clothes, now too big or were toiles for new patterns

The birds are chirping very loudly, wonderful sign of spring

Sar53 Tue 21-Feb-23 06:50:28

Good morning from Essex by the sea. It's dry and nearly light, hopefully no rain later.
Opticians for me this morning, a contact lens check followed by a sight check for my glasses. I could be some time.
DH is going to try and get a doctor's appointment, Good luck with that.
I hope Tuesday is a good day, xx

cornergran Tue 21-Feb-23 06:33:30

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks damp.

Out and about yesterday morning before a quiet afternoon and no, the jigsaw isn’t finished.

I’m exhausted reading about your day grandmattie. Sadly your solicitor could be right, the conveyancing on our retirement property was more complex and took much longer than that on our previous home. We were fortunate, furniture in storage we stayed with one of ours for a month and then once the our putchase was completed had our touring van to live in while renovations were completed. I’ll be hoping for a speedy conclusion for you.

Safe trip for your husband ash. Why not call the hospital and find out what happened yesterday mick, I do hope there are no hitches.

Off out for breakfast this morning then a haircut for Mr C. I must settle with the computer this afternoon, tackle the avoided!

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all. Enjoy those pancakes.

Grandmabatty Tue 21-Feb-23 06:26:14

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and looks dry, from what I can tell. Grandmattie a very busy day ahead for you. Mizuna enjoy your pancakes. Ash safe journey. Mick fingers crossed that your op goes ahead.
Childcare yesterday went went. My aunt came for a quick visit and dgs2 and I had fun the rest of the day. He had fun emptying my kitchen cupboards. I had fun putting it all back in.
Today will be a repeat of yesterday. I will have to go to Aldi as I've no bread or butter so we will have a morning walk. Cottage pie for dinner. Have a good day all.
