Good morning from Glasgow where it is dry and sunny.

What a difference some sunshine makes. My meet up with two friends for coffee yesterday was spent sitting in the sunshine on the terrasse of a nearby hotel. What a joy to feel the sun again.
A day in the garden pottering about at leisure is on the cards.

I am a big fan of robins Mizuna. Where they nest in our hedge is beginning to resemble a block of flats with the gaps they have made in the hedge in one area. I enjoy watching their comings and goings when I have my morning coffee.
Pleased to hear all went well apart from the blood sample difficulty Mick. I would have thought the hospital would have advised you to self isolate before the day of your op. Take care if you are going out.

We enjoyed our visit to the theatre last night....The King and I with 'Trixie' from Call the Midwife as Anna.
Zumba community class this morning. Hope I can keep up, my energy level is still low after my recent bout of 'not Covid'. Then a visit to the fish man followed by cupboard restocking in the supermarket.

Good morning all, from a beautiful morning in Glasgow, where its a chilly -3°C.

Did anyone see the sky last night with Jupiter and Venus on either side of the moon? It was so clear.
I did ask DH to take a photo, but he wasted so much time being David Bailey, that the sky had clouded over, by the time he was ready.

I spent much of yesterday afternoon sleeping, due to a severe vertigo attack. Feeling reasonably ok, I had been rummaging in my gift cupboard and foolishly lifting heavy boxes when it came on with a vengeance.
DH hates that cupboard, because it is packed to the gunnels with bargain gifts, so I was reluctant to ask for help!

Today I plan to do little, because DIL has offered to take me out tomorrow for an hour to the Range, to get a couple of picture frames to match ones I already have and I want to be well enough to go. Simple pleasures!
The only times I have been out since New Year, have been for medical appointments, with a supermarket visit tagged on, on the way home. I have always needed someone with me, because I am quite unsteady on my feet and also extremely frustrated!

DH was very upset yesterday to hear that his friend and ex boss from his days in the LA in Ayr, had died. We have two friends in the last week, who have died. It has knocked us for six.
If I feel well enough on Monday, I have offered to go with him to the funeral in Ayr. Fingers crossed! I may get a glimpse of the sea!

Mick, it is good the preparations for you op seem to be going well.
However, I'm sorry to come across so bluntly, but I am at a loss, as to why you are ignoring the friendly and sensible advice on here, to avoid picking up any infection pre op.
It is not only yourself that you need to think of, but staff and fellow vulnerable patients.
My friend died of Covid, picked up in a hospital waiting room, where she had gone for pre op testing. It was the only place she had been in months.
Her DD and SIL, who had accompanied her ended up in hospital, seriously ill.
This is why, I feel so strongly about people being careful.

Good morning all from a gentle pink sunrise on the Angus coast. It's back to normal for me today after three days of lunching out with various friends - I'd have preferred it if these occasions were more spaced out, but that's the way the cookie crumbled as they say. The jaunt up country yesterday was lovely and the hills looked beautiful with their smooth covering of snow. There's a saying round here - 'if the snaw hings ahent the dyke' there's more to follow (if the snow lingers in sheltered spots). Watch this space!
Glad to here all is progressing satisfactorily for Mick and grandmattie. And loved your robin story Mizuna. I've been sitting here watching skein after skein of wild geese rising from the nature reserve to go off to their chosen feeding fields - one of my favourite sights. And talking of favourites, that programme, The Piano, which is on Channel 4 on Thursdays, is fast becoming one of mine. It somehow transcends the run-of-the-mill talent shows to be something quite special and the talent is awesome. Looking forward to next week already!
Off to tai chi in a while - hence my early (for me 😉) start. And after that the weekly shop followed by an afternoon in front of the tv with my eyes closed.

Good morning from a brightish Leicestershire.

First coffee with friends then I am going to lunch with 2 other friends. We are testing a local pub which has been taken over to see if it is suitable for NWR lunch group.

Ash is right Mick I can only give blood on one side and in that arm my veins have all collapsed but if I drink copious amounts of water it helps.

I have 2 resident robins in our garden and they fiercely fight the pigeons off the bird table.

Sounds as if the sale of your house is going smoothly GrandMattie. My parents lived with me for 3 months between sale and purchase due to the bungalow being in probate.

Good morning from Shropshire.

We had a good visit with mum yesterday.A good visit isn’t a given.I hadn’t told her DD’s and the grandchildren would all be there too so she was surprised and delighted.We went for lunch in the pub in her village.I walked up with the children so they could burn off of some energy and all were on their best behaviour.Phew!

DH finished painting the kitchen while I was out yesterday so today we will put everything back into its rightful place then a trip into town.

Our six day old great niece is out of NICU and much improved😊

I hope your grandson had a lovely birthday Grandmabatty.

My DH will not give up on a jigsaw either corner.I am always glad to get the dining room table back for a while when the jigsaw is finished.

I hope your DH can get an appointment with the GP LLFL and that Mary is feeling better today.Thinking of you Auntieflo as you are waiting for your next chemo💐and thoughts to all unwell and with worries about loved ones.

Good morning from rainy Colchester.
Laundry and ironing this morning as I have a new laptop being delivered. The old one has died again and had already been resuscitated a couple of times.
The weather is forecast to dry up later so I'll walk into the City centre to take back a pair of trousers that were made for a much skinnier person despite being described as wide leg. Why are there such big discrepancies in sizing?

Yesterday dd and I visited my friend. Dd got very upset although I had warned her that her appearance had changed dramatically. My friend was much brighter than last week, although she tired easily. Later on dgs1 chose to come to grandma's house over going for ice cream. An honour indeed! He opened his birthday presents and then they headed home where he had a mountain of presents to open. I had a quiet night.
Today I have the opticians early. Then art class for a couple of hours. Then I'm meeting friends for dinner. So all told, a busy day. Have a good day all.

I’m pleased to say my kumquat marmalade turned out really well but I only got 3 jam jars out of 4 packs of (reduced in price) fruit. Last year I made some from a tree which had been given to me as a gift which then promptly died a month later.

We have childcare on Mondays (school pickup for DGD3) and we have her brother all day Tuesdays. We went for a walk for the best part of a mile without a pushchair. He’s such a good walker at 22 months.

No plans for today except a drive to the M&S food hall 8 miles away to collect a parcel and pick up a few food items.

Exciting day in prospect. We are taking Bertie to spend his birthday money and then for lunch. We are going to Nandos apparently - DH and I have never been before.

Yesterday I had a lovely lunch out with eldest gd and Dd , and caught up with all gd’s news of Uni and her plans for the future.

Today I have bowls club and Dh has a blood test (diabetic) . He’s borderline!

BlueBalou that fossil hunt sounds a lovely idea. I expect you’ll find lots once you know what you’re looking for. 🤞.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is shaping up to be a fair day in South Yorkshire, but it’s cold. Yesterday I cleared and cleaned the junkyard that was my conservatory and it is now a nice place to sit and listen to music again. Bach is back! Today I have to go to the supermarket as I am running out of everything. Funny how that never used to happen when DH was here. He was Officer in charge of stores and we never ran out of anything! Sloppy behaviour is taking over in the ranks!
Glad your pre-op went ok Mick - I’m reluctant to let go of my blood too!

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels mild. It is my Book Group today. We meet in the village cafe at lunchtime. They do delicious cakes and sandwiches. I may or may not attend a Lent group this evening but I haven’t heard back from the organisers. I have bits of admin to do this morning and I need to look through our spare pictures to choose some to go in the new room. OH had a third attack of transient global amnesia yesterday so I will try and persuade him to contact his GP. Have a good day.

Lovely day yesterday. Took 2 DGD's to the cinema in the morning to see Puss in Boots (their choice), then picked up Mum, and back to DD's village where we met my Aunt (Mums sister) and my cousin for lunch in the local pub. 7 ladies doing lunch

Thursday bi-weekly walk this morning. The group was started by a lady who lives near me via FB. Quite a few regulars now, making it an enjoyable morning of walk and chat. MrJ off on a cycle ride with his club

The 8yr old had his second sleepover here in a row due to The Imp and DD both having a D & V bug. It seemed a good idea to hopefully prevent him from getting it and keeping him in school. He put his breakfast order in last night, scrambled eggs on hash browns, he does enjoy his breakfasts 💙🤣

I am off to the hairdresser this afternoon, will stop off at either M & S Food Hall or big Sainsbury’s on my way home for some bottles of champagne for two of our sons who have birthdays next week.

good morning s somerset is damp and it feels chilly. A day for warm loungewear

My stove is on, was full pelt and now lower. I have had the luxury of not putting any gas ch on for several days, just stove now and then. I have an eco fan on top and have been very pleasantly surprised at how much heat gets transferred to my hall and thence to upstairs.

Shingles vax yesterday and an easy day today. I did love the robin tale mizuna, nature is indeed wonderful. Whatever happens, the cycle of nature keeps turning

Off for a facial later this morning and stitch club this afternoon.
I have booked a week’s holiday by the sea in Dorset at the end of March- and treated myself to a fossil hunting trip 🤞🏻 I’ve never had much success in the past so hopefully I might actually know what to look for this time!
Hoping for decent weather might be a bit too optimistic but the change of scenery and being on a beach will be lovely.

Morning Mick, morning All. Looks damp out there although our corner of Somerset is forecast to see some sun later.

Most tasks accomplished yesterday morning I tackled Apple issues in the afternoon. Two hours later with a major headache and a sore back one was almost fixed. Far from done yet, engagement is suspended for now, back to it next week.

Dust removal and laundry this morning before what I hope will be a gentle afternoon. Mr C will carry on with the jigsaw, he’s determined to finish it. Me? I’d have shipped it out days ago. If the sun appears I may tempt Mr C out for a walk, he’ll be happy if the route includes coffee, even happier if there’s cake.

Another here who offers a challenge with blood tests, as ash said mick keeping well hydrated helps. Pleased the rest of the pre op went well. You’re very pragmatic grandmattie and organised. Suspect your solicitor is right about the gap, it will depend on the speed or otherwise of your purchase. Wishing you well with it all. Enjoy your family time ash, hope the train journey is smooth
