Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start and maybe a bit chilly outside this morning in brackley .
I had some disappointing news last night , received a call from the JR in Oxford to say my planned operation has been cancelled with reasons as well.
I get breathless being one of them and also being anaemic, in the case of the later they are going to arrange an iron infusion or other .
I know getting breathless is maybe due to the cold air , if out walking I tend pause every so often .
But today Bicester on the bus as usual ,and the thought of not having to stick to a regime this Sunday of not having to only drink liquids and a light breakfast .
Take Care,
Mick

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but seems chilly out. Alexa tells me it’s 7°C currently. I slept wonderfully well last night after my hungover nonsense yesterday. We are babysitting tonight but have no other plans. That’ll do nicely.

Good morning everyone. Reading about some people’s train travels and difficulties reminded me that I bought a rucksack for my trips to London for meet ups with my old school friends. I’ve not had one since those days of metal framed very uncomfortable heavy ones used for Youth Hostelling days of the 60s! I’ll use it for our weekend away in a couple of weeks but thought it would be much easier than lugging a case along stations and the tube. Watch out I don’t clobber you as I turn round suddenly.

Off to meet a good friend for coffee which will probably morph into lunch. Hope today is kind to all whatever your plans.

Good morning from murky Leicestershire.

Blood test at the doctors so will take DH and we can have a coffee out nearby.
Might pop to the farm for eggs afterwards.
Also need some food to give DS who is coming for the weekend alone. He has arranged an evening out with a couple of old friends. It will be good to see him.

What a nightmare journey Ashcombe like our 5 hour journey from London to Brighton. We did claim, however and got the full fair back!

Happy Birthday to Mr Pittcity.

Good morning from a sunny NE but it has been raining.
Wind got up during the night, I was hoping it wouldn't blow the bin over like it did last week.
Supposed to be going out to lunch with my friend but she rang to say that her DH had covid. Like me she and her DH had avoided infection for 3 years, she was not happy but I did not want to get in the car while he was coughing.
I kept the booking and will take SIL for his lunch, he deserves a treat for all the help he gives me.
Not good news about your operation Mick, do hope they get the problem sorted quickly so you can proceed.
Have a good day all.

Good morning all and it is very still and dull here in Essex.

Sar safe and trouble free journey to your family. Happy birthday to your gd and enjoy your visit with them all. ❤️.

GG I’m glad you got your hair sorted - although when I saw you last week it looked lovely anyway!

Ash what a day you had! Relax now and Have a lovely time with your family! ❤️.

nannyjan and monk I’m another with a hard-of-hearing DH 😤. Has had hearing aids for over a year but won’t wear them . Very frustrating for everyone but not for him , apparently! 😬.

Glad you’re feeling better MD . Onwards and upwards 🤞🙏.

Great photos GrandmaChrisy .

Dh has to take a urine sample into the docs this morning. He went for a blood test yesterday but forgot to take the U sample. He came home picked up said sample, took it back to surgery but was told ‘No, it has to be fresh’ . He said I’ll do another one now. ‘No, it has to be here by 1 o’clock! 😤. OMG! .

Lunch with our Friday pals today and maybe a quick visit to RHS Hyde Hall, as it’s close to the pub.

Enjoy your day everyone and those who are poorly or anxious, relax and chill.
🌷

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and sunny. It's been raining in the night. Mick I hope your op can be rescheduled soon. Marydoll enjoy your day out.
Yesterday was a day of reckoning. In my head I am 20 but the optician and hearing clinic disagree. My glasses prescription has changed quite a bit since last year and he's not happy about the pressure in my eyes, so I have more tests next week. On the way out, I asked if they do hearing tests. Not only do they do them, I could have an appointment in fifteen minutes. The upshot of that is, my hearing is far from ok and I have an appointment to see an audiologist. I had suspected that but it feels like I'm falling to pieces.
I tootled off to art class in high dudgeon but recovered my equanimity as it's very soothing. Later on I met friends for dinner. The lady who had organised it called off, unwell. It's a habit of hers which is annoying. However the other two and I had a good blether. The food wasn't great, nor was the service, so I think we will go elsewhere for our next catch up.
Today is a day at home for me. Hurrah! I will do some housework and potter in the garden. No idea what I'll have for dinner. Maybe egg, chips and beans. Have a good day all.

Good morning from Shropshire. After yesterdays sunshine which warmed the whole house we have rain forecast today.

DH has finished painting and sorting the kitchen so today we will sort the garage then that is all the jobs on our winter checklist sorted. From next week he will be starting on the gardening and planning which veg we are going to grow.Always the same basic ones but he usually tries a couple of extras.

Blue we watched The Piano too and Lucy brought a tear to our eyes. What a talent and we thought her lovely mum was pretty amazing too.

So sorry your operation has been postponed Mick.

Ash what a nightmare journey.Thank goodness you had people who were able to help you.You must have been exhausted.

Grammaretto Fri 24-Feb-23 08:10:55

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny day here. I have woken with a sore throat and below par. I will see how I am in an hour, after my tea and paracetamol I don't want to cancel my shop stint as we are short of volunteers.
Your train journey Ash reminds me I can claim compensation after last week's cancellations and having to travel to Cambridge via London.

Poor Mick. I am sorry that your op has been put off again. I hope your health can be restored.flowers

I had my Gaelic class yesterday. It's on zoom so no reason not to attend although sometimes the numbers drop. There was a political debate stirring with strong views on the Scottish leadership. grin

Have a great weekend everyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 24-Feb-23 08:02:22

Morning from light grey skies in S Hampshire, it’s cool out. What a palaver Ash, but worth it.
Annoying Michael.
After taking MrJ to work yesterday, sitting grandson, who’s now much improved and picking up a new battery for MrJ’s car, yesterday whizzed past.
A more leisurely day today, grocery delivery pm.
I too am thinking of the Ukraine.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩

Gala Fri 24-Feb-23 07:59:30

Good morning from a dull & overcast Sefton. No hint of the sunshine which is forecast for this morning.
Zoom dance exercise class this morning. No plans for the rest of the day but will need to sort out clothes to pack for a short break this weekend. Will be meeting up with old friends & attending a formal dinner.
Take care those of you out & about this weekend.

ginny Fri 24-Feb-23 07:54:29

Good morning everyone.
DH has gone to play golf so the house is quiet.
No plans today so I’ll see what I fancy doing once I am dressed. I’ll ignore the ironing pile and the finger marks on the inside of the windows.smile
Wishing you all the best day possible.

baubles Fri 24-Feb-23 07:53:54

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Disappointing news about your surgery date Mick, hopefully it won’t be postponed for too long.

Horrid journey Ash.

So glad you had a better day Marydoll, I wish you many more.

GG pleased you got your hair sorted out. It’s an easy mistake to make on the calendar.

I’m going to visit a friend who’s recovering from a hysterectomy then this evening going for a curry with some other friends.

Have the best possible day everyone.

brook2704 Fri 24-Feb-23 07:44:11

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey, just like yesterday with rain in the forecast again too
That’s a disappointment for you mick, I hope you get the appropriate treatment so it can be rescheduled again soon
Oh Ash what a journey! Enjoy your well deserved break with the family. Pleased your journey was much better grandmachristy and hope yours is ok today Sar!
I’ve the circuits class at the gym this morning, not easy but it’s doing me good - followed by aqua zumba which is always good fun. Then this afternoon I’ve a much needed hairdressers appointment so looking forward to a bit of pampering
So pleased that you’re having some much better days now marydoll and that’s the end of the vertigo
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a dull grey Hull.

How disappointing Mick to have your operation cancelled.

Ash what a troublesome journey but enjoy being with your family.

Sar enjoy your cuddle with your GD and wishing her a happy birthday 🎂

I have a zoom yoga this morning while and DH is at the gym. We are going over to York to visit with my parents. They have a table booked at their local for lunch. We always call at a garden centre on the way to get him a steak pie sausage rolls and gravy which he loves.

Have a lovely day everyone. Safe journey to travellers on the move. Thinking of those struggling with illness and stress 🌻🌻

Pittcity Fri 24-Feb-23 07:37:16

Photo is from last night.

NannyJan53 Fri 24-Feb-23 07:36:35

Good morning from a dull grey Black Country.

Lovely sunny weather yesterday for our group walk.

Today is a walk with my u3a walking group. We are meeting not far from where Mum lives, so will be popping into hers afterwards. We only meet monthly for this.

Not sure what it is with some men monk who won't see about sorting hearing out. MrJ is the same. Issued with hearing aids in 2012. Wore them once and decided not to bother as he said everything seems so LOUD! Consequently I frequently have to repeat myself. His hearing is not as bad as mine as I couldn't manage without my aids.

Phew! What a trip Ashcombe happy you arrived safe and sound in the end.

Enjoy your Friday everyone

Pittcity Fri 24-Feb-23 07:36:25

Good morning from a cold and frosty Colchester. The sun is out.
It's DH's birthday and we'll have a houseful of children and grandchildren this evening. I'm looking at a mortgage as he wants Chinese takeaway!!
Love to all 🦩 x

NanKate Fri 24-Feb-23 07:31:52

Morning Mick and All.

Grey and cold in South Bucks.

Marydoll you have made us laugh over your strange red blob 😀

I’ve been awake since 4.30, each time I almost fell asleep I started coughing. I’ve had this cough for over a month. I’m not a happy bunny.

Thinking of the poor people in Ukraine, so I have nothing to moan about. 🇺🇦

GrannyGravy13 Fri 24-Feb-23 07:30:38

Morning all

It’s rather chilly here in S E Essex.

Safe journey Sar53 enjoy your time with your girls x

Nightmare journey Ashcombe

Marydoll good to hear you being more positive and able to do little things

Well my day was interesting yesterday, arrived at hairdressers home, no answer on when I knocked on the door, no car on her drive. I was 10 minutes early so I sat in my car then checked my appointment…

I had the correct time, correct day unfortunately the incorrect month I had messaged her without my glasses on and booked for March 😡😡😡😡 I panicked as we are out 5 times in the next 8 days, two of which are dressy and my hair definitely needed a cut and highlights/lowlights to cover the grey. Fortunately I managed to get in with a lady that started off as my hairdresser’s junior and now works in a salon in my road, my hairdressers messaged her with my colour details and voila hair sorted. We also had a good old gossip as she was my Mum’s hairdresser for many years and gave our two youngest C their first haircuts.

Off to the gym this morning, then picking up The Imp from preschool at lunchtime, then out for dinner this evening.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

monk08 Fri 24-Feb-23 07:26:56

Good morning all from the Black country, weather not doing a lot.
DH has a telephone GP appt at 11 so I need to be around to listen in he won't admit his hearing is not good, its everybody talking to quiet.
Disappointment for you Mick but for the best if you are not 100%.
Mary enjoy your trip out.
Have a good Friday everyone and may you all find some ☀️.

Mizuna Fri 24-Feb-23 07:24:34

Good morning from south Cornwall where the sky is clear and sunshine is promised. Dentist this morning then shopping for a chord book for my 39 year old son, who I'm attempting to help learn play the guitar. Meeting my ex daughter-in-law for coffee and a catch up later.

Sounds like the NHS is taking care of you Mick.

Abitbarmy Fri 24-Feb-23 07:18:10

Good morning all, up early today as have to do the pre-school run, the twins are being taken for their jabs again, an early appointment. My sleep these days nearly always means waking up at 3 or 4 for an hour or so, then back to sleep with the weirdest most vivid dreams. Very unsettling. Outside looks damp and grim but forecast is for brighter later. Some more work done up the allotment today hopefully. Also go and enquire re new flooring now I’ve worn down DH sufficiently to agree to having the kitchen and hallway done. It will be a big expensive job but should look massively better than the nightmare travertine tiles. Hope your day goes well everyone and your worries are few.

Marydoll Fri 24-Feb-23 07:11:08

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is currently 8 °C.

That's a pity Mick about the cancellation, probably for the best, if you are not feeling too well. I do understand you must be disappointed.
The surgeon, would I imagine, be reluctant to operate if you needed an iron infusion and are breathless.
I remember the anaesthetist, advising me as he was administering a spinal block, ( I cannot have a general anaesthetic) that my op might still not go ahead, even at the the very last minute, if he and the surgeon thought I wasn't well enough to proceed. They cannot take any risks.
Hopefully you will be back on track soon.

Ash, what a nightmare of a journey. Thank goodness you found some kind people to support you, especially after your recent surgery. Carrying luggage from platform to platform is not easy.
I hope you have a lovely stay.

Well surprisingly, I have more positive news today.
Yesterday, much to my delight, passed without any serious vertigo episodes. I caught DH scrutinising me a few times, wondering why I hadn't had any severe attacks.
I did, however, fall sleep in the afternoon!
I managed to make two sultana loaves and dinners for the next two days, in case today tired me out.
DD had loaned me her fakeaway Chinese cookery book to try
and I attempted Capital spare ribs. It seems that this is what they eat in Beijing!
It was a bit of a faff, but worth the effort. They were delicious!
Later when going to get ready for bed, I noticed what looked like a huge red weal on my face.
Catastrophising, as is my want, after all, my life is never simple, I asked DH to have a look. He burst out laughing, it was sauce from the ribs! 😄

DD arrived unexpectedly from work, to check up on me, while she reported her very difficult day at work and problems with a staff member.
I am so proud of her and her tenacity in overcoming her dyslexia and managing this poison chalice of a job..
I mentioned returning her cookbook and she told me to keep it as a treat, as she had bought another one for herself.
She is a really kind girl.

Thanks Ash for your good wishes.
I never know how I feel, until I get up, Im always afraid to move my head! So fingers crossed for today. I'm so excited at the thought of escaping!
DiL, kept checking in yesterday, to see if I'm OK to go.
I'm also hoping to visit the M&S food hall next door to the Range, as well. I'm aiming high!

Wishing you all the best of days and special thoughts for all in the sick bay.
