Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start and maybe a bit chilly outside this morning in brackley .
I had some disappointing news last night , received a call from the JR in Oxford to say my planned operation has been cancelled with reasons as well.
I get breathless being one of them and also being anaemic, in the case of the later they are going to arrange an iron infusion or other .
I know getting breathless is maybe due to the cold air , if out walking I tend pause every so often .
But today Bicester on the bus as usual ,and the thought of not having to stick to a regime this Sunday of not having to only drink liquids and a light breakfast .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone. A mix of cloud and sunny intervals in this corner of Lancashire. That’s a shame about your operation Mick, I hope things can be resolved soon. I’m glad to see you feeling more optimistic Marydoll, enjoy your visit to The Range.
Happy Friday to all 🦩🦩🦩

Stilllearning Fri 24-Feb-23 11:02:51

A late good morning from sunny S Lanarkshire. Having managed to get organised (including mass as my Lenten effort) I am now on the train to Glasgow en route for a weekend in Dunoon. I stay with my lovely sister and brother in law and if these blue skies continue it will be a real treat.

Had a mad conversation with the ticket seller at the station who explained that using a Disabled rail card would be cheaper than my Strathclyde travel pass if I got a return but I couldn’t get a return for this journey, only two singles. We both agreed that this is Scotrail at its best!

Sorry to hear about your op being deferred again Mick, but at least it’s for a good reason

Wishing everyone a good day 🦩

They are the neighbours from Hell (well, not quite) Maw. They don’t bother with the house or garden and there are 7 adults with 7 cars and parking for only 4.
It’s 10 years since and the ridge tile slid down the roof, but it lodged over a bedroom ridge - hard to explain without a picture, but had it fallen it would’ve gone through his car.
Since then I’ve watched birds going in and out and wondered if snow and rain would get it too.
When my ridge tiles came off this time last year, I’d popped out to get some biscuits, otherwise it would’ve been carnage - they landed exactly where my car had been parked 10mins earlier.

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 24-Feb-23 10:09:06

Good morning from at present sunny Harrogate
So sorry Mick that the plans have been changed- so disconcerting
That was some train journey Ashcombe. Reminds me of when I travelled between Aberdeen and Harrogate. Some pretty hair raising trips!
That the worst of being later posting, so many more posts to read and forget!
We are just off for a trip to Ripon after a cup of coffee. The pancakes went well yesterday. We were all stuffed! The DGC had squirty cream on theirs, yeugh!!
Have the best day possible folks

Urmstongran Fri 24-Feb-23 09:51:42

I think if one lives alone that’s a very sensible suggestion aggie. A few months ago I suggested my 90y old stepfather keeps his mobile in the pocket of his trousers in case he has a fall in his bathroom or garden shed. Better safe than sorry.

MawtheMerrier Fri 24-Feb-23 09:49:00

Georgesgran I hope there were no repercussions to your neighbours ridge tile’s descent.
It happened to DD some years ago in gales two days before they were due to drive down from Birmingham for her sisters wedding. Only this time the ridge tile smashed through the sun roof of her BMW X5 completely showering the interior with broken glass, destroying the roof, the electrics and causing (I exaggerate not) £000’s worth of damage. If she had been just 5 minutes earlier out of the house she would have been in the car (and possibly the 3 children too)
Terrifying

Good morning from a cold dull Co Armagh
I was away last week so no one fed the birds and they haven’t come back !
Can I suggest that we keep our mobile phones with us at all times ?
I nipped into the greenhouse yesterday , lifted the watering can and turned to use it but my shoe caught in between the pavers and I fell over on the watering can , which kindly doused me with cold water , but did break my fall !
I am .. ahem ! ..sturdily built and couldn’t spring to my feet !
And of course was out of sight and sound , I did managed to heave myself along to my kneeler stool so got on my knees and stood with the aid of the handles but it took ages
My phone was in the kitchen !
Sore leg today , but it could have been a lot worse !

Pittcity Fri 24-Feb-23 09:27:11

MrPitt thanks you all for his birthday greetings. He has just got back from 48 hours of carp fishing Greyduster, not much luck though.

Wyllow3 Fri 24-Feb-23 09:24:22

Morning from S Yorks where the sun seems to be peeping out after a dull start.

Off for coffee this morning with a friend, cakes may be consumed, tho am in the middle of a late breakfast.

Best wishes for birthdays and I am truly sorry you have to wait Mick. I always love the photos gransnetters! Bests for friends and family days, and may our poorlies and having appointments have as good a day as possible.

Its me who is unwilling to wear my hearing aids, as its marginal, and I live alone so no one to ask to "speak up" or complain about TV levels (am in a small detached house so no need to worry about neighbours and same)

luluaugust Fri 24-Feb-23 09:09:31

Good morning from another cloudy day in W Kent.
Sorry about the op Mick
Good luck Marydoll enjoy your shop.
A small shop to check out the vegetables and then on GS duty this afternoon. Looking forward to a catch up with him, his sister and his mum.

Marydoll Fri 24-Feb-23 09:03:36

Good morning all from Glasgow. 8deg. and sunny with a few menacing dark clouds which will hopefully disappear.

A meet up with DH’s consultant this morning. She was hoping to have had CT results by today but so far, no sign of an appointment for a scan!

I hope you have an enjoyable, trouble free day Marydoll. You deserve it and fingers crossed your troubles are fewer by the day.🤞

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Taichinan Fri 24-Feb-23 08:51:38

Good morning everyone from the Angus coast where it is a c-o-l-d 6°. Now that the air is moving out of the north it has a well-honed cutting edge to it. The weather forecast isn't the best, but at least if March comes in next week like a lion we know that it will go out as a lamb and Spring will be here. I hope.
Sorry about the postponement of your op Mick
Travelling seems to reverting to Dark Ages standard according to your stories - we can no longer expect journeys to be smooth and uneventful. I used to love my jaunts up and down the country, with the journey being as good as the actual holiday.
I too love The Piano - an amazingly well-conceived programme. Lucy was a true genius, but it was they way she had been taught that amazed me. How could she have learned all that just be having her hands in top of her teacher's hands! And there was the young boy who had taught himself to play during lockdown. It's enthralling, and I can't wait for next week!
For me this continues to be a week of lunching out - I'm meeting up with a friend in Perth today. After this feast it will definitely be back to the 'famine' for the next week or so!
Have a good day everyone, and safe journeys to any brave enough to be travelling today 😉. Good health and happiness x

EkwaNimitee Fri 24-Feb-23 08:50:26

Good morning Mick and everyone from dull damp Carlisle.
I'm sorry to read your ops been postponed Mick, I hope the medics sort your other problems out promptly.

I have a few little jobs I must do this morning then I ought to look at my odd job list for one of those occasional tasks that need doing. But maybe I won't! There's also some filing and other admin stuff that is piling up that I should really really get to grips with. I might start another book, the strange sci-fi one I finished yesterday ended with no explanation of weird goings on and an odd unsatisfactory ending. It was one of Amazon's freebies so can't complain.

Do have a good day all if possible.

Georgesgran Fri 24-Feb-23 08:47:56

Good morning from Durham, where it’s rained overnight, blue sky now, although cold.
Roofers arrived early to replace the missing ridge tile next door - it came off 10 years ago, but they don’t care.
DGS1 here, so we’ll head out to a local farm after he’s watched some cartoons. Hope they have eggs, as Tesco didn’t yesterday.
Frustrating times Mick
Marydoll I sincerely hope you enjoy your day out - it’s been a long time, but don’t overdo it. X
Best wishes to all. X

BlueSapphire Fri 24-Feb-23 08:44:02

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, with rain showers forecast for later on.

A busy day yesterday: a big load of washing which dried nicely on the line; sorted out the Shark vacuum which wasn't picking up as much as usual (the roller wasn't going round); then a Sainsbury's delivery; cleaned/dusted all surfaces in the bedrooms and the stair bannisters, then cleaned the bedroom windows. After lunch (which included three pancakes from Tuesday's left over batter), I then cut the large back lawn, which just about finished me off! Which reminds me I need to put the mower batteries on charge.

Being picked by a friend and her DH this morning, and going for coffee/cake at the M&S cafe; she bought a skirt from me on Wednesday at our neighbours' coffee morning, but had no money on her, so arranged to meet today so that she can pay me. Then a top-up shop for me to get things that Sainsburys didn't deliver yesterday.

A home-made curry to get out of the freezer for dinner tonight, just rice to cook.

Sorry to hear about your cancelled op, Mick; let's hope they re-schedule it when they are satisfied with your fitness.

Enjoy your shopping trip, Marydoll!

Have a good Friday everyone.

Greyduster Fri 24-Feb-23 08:40:09

Good. Ironing, Michael and all GNs. An overcast start in South Yorkshire but it will be dry. Mick that’s very frustrating for you. I hope they can sort you out and reschedule surgery soon. I took advantage of the weather (sunny but cold) yesterday afternoon to clear the dead leaves from the bed at the side of the drive. There were so many this year they had completely buried the daffs and tulips that were coming through, plus the heathers and a large geranium. Filled a large garden waste bag and we are tidy(ish) again. DD is coming over today to have lunch and then go to a nearby shopping complex with me to look for shoes. I need slip ons that I can wear in wet weather until I can tie laces again. If she had not been coming over I was going to go to a drop in art session at the library, but that will wait for another tune. I love to spend time with her.
Ash that was one epic journey. Glad you had someone to talk to on the train!
Hope your DH enjoys his birthday Pitt. No fishing today?
Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Fri 24-Feb-23 08:37:18

Good morning, s somerset weather is dry, cold and dull

I am another who wakes around 3 and I add another pillow at that time, go to the loo and lie back while nibbling a very small oatcake. I have my last meal at 4.30pm and that 3am wake is, I am sure, that my blood sugar has dived. I always go back to sleep quickly

I have a gathering and talk this morning, about a mile away, too cold to cycle, so I will walk. If I decide not to go, which is a possibility, then I will use my small stepper in my kitchen. Quite difficult pushes as it has fluid-filled pistons and 40 double steps can make me nicely puffed-out

Other than that, the day will evolve and hopefully not be wasted

GrannySomerset Fri 24-Feb-23 08:34:51

Need to make preparations for weekend but though I know I have visitors for lunch tomorrow DS has yet to confirm when he is coming, for how long, and whether alone or with DDiL and/or DGS. Not ideal!

How disconcerting, Mick, when you had mentally prepared yourself for surgery. Hope you are clearer about things soon. Your journey sounds hideous, Ashcombe, hope you recover soon. Enjoy your short burst of freedom, Marydoll and don’t overdo it.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 24-Feb-23 08:31:42

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I should be going to a talk on Vienna at the Art Society in a nearby town, but I’m not. I have had a really busy week and it will be the same next week. I’ve been to Vienna anyway, and we’re going again next month! So I will be baking instead. I have a glut of egg whites in my freezer (my sister in law reckons it’s like a sperm bank) and have a rather good American cake recipe using egg whites and white chocolate. I usually fill it with lemon buttercream. OH is going to a Bee thing this evening so I’ll watch Death in Paradise in peace. Have a good day.

hollysteers Fri 24-Feb-23 08:29:23

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
I’m so sorry your op has been postponed Mick and hope it all gets sorted.
Last night to local musical show with an ex student taking part, she was very good. I liked a couple of lines:
“It may be February, but it’s always August under your arms”
And someone talking about an obscure and difficult play
“I didn’t even understand the interval!”😁
Off to art soon reluctantly after a bad night, up and down to the loo and the cat waking me At unearthly hours.

Thanks “Urmstongran*, I will have a look at the Joan Plowright film as the one I saw had Celia Johnson as the main character and was much older. Lovely work.
