Yes, I know it’s conscious humour but it made me chuckle and want to share with you.

The OP has reminded me of a sign displayed today in the window of a charity shop:

NO TOMATOES ARE KEPT IN THIS SHOP OVERNIGHT
(we do, however, have lots of loo rolls)

Someone has a wonderful sense of humour - well, it appeals to me.

On holiday in Spain one year my MIL asked what time we were going to the bordello ( bodega).šŸ˜‚

Discussing decorating, my mother’s friend said that her husband always used Durex as it gave ā€œA lovely smooth finishā€.

I can second thatā˜ŗļø

One of my friends has a favourite introduction to most of her statements " at the end of the speculum"

My mother had a friend who went to Port Ugal every year on holiday.

I travelled next to a man who told me that he enjoyed gardens by Serendipity Jones.

My 'posh' friend was planning to send her daughter to one of those fancy boarding schools like Stella Artois!'

I like bichon frisee. Can you tell me how to grow one? They are very expensive to buy. Maybe try gardening😊

I remember chatting to a friend about his new window box gardening hobby.

(This is true, it doesn’t sound it.
He was a very flamboyant camp type, which also added to its delivery)
Anyway, he went into detail of which varieties of lettuce he was growing; these included romaine, butterhead and bichon frisƩe

(Which of course, I now have one of myself)

Not sure if this is the same sort of thing but I've been mystified as to why, according to BBC news, 'Helen Mirren tears up reciting poem'. I pondered why would she want to tear it up? until I realised she was 'teared up' (an expression I've not heard of) very confusing...

Moaning about not being able to get a wide choice of fruit is sour grapes, nevertheless it gives many the pip!

Meanwhile, around the corner, others were bemoaning the price of lactose products well hard cheese!

That made me smile. Thanks Maw. 😊

Yesterday I read an article on the tomato/salad shortage in which a spokesperson described it as ā€œthe tip of the icebergā€ (he should be so lucky, no icebergs in my Co-op) and today in an interview on The World at One about the Avian Flu virus which seems to have crossed to humans in Cambodia and a girl has died.
Again that wonderful creature, a ā€œspokespersonā€ said we ā€œneed to watch this like a hawkā€ šŸ¦…
