Happy birthday to Mr corner🥳🍾🥂
Gingster, I am sorry your daughter is feeling so unwell.I hope you manage to speak to her nurse or a dr today.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is overcast but not raining.
The usual Saturday morning for me, cakes in the oven, I shall pick daffodils for the tables in the community café. I've done this every week, almost, for 18 years. I only pick what I find in the garden to go with the seasons.
There'll be an exhibition about daffodils today as well.
I may go to the Gaelic café this afternoon which is monthly for those of us learning. We have to order and only speak Gaelic. There are 2 or 3 native speakers to help us laugh at our efforts
Tonight a, sold out, concert by a couple of Shetland fiddlers and a pianist.
Well done gMattie you never cease to amaze me with your ability to get things done!
.Happy Birthday Mr Corner. Have a lovely day.
Good morning all from the Black country.
It's that time again full English Saturday so haven't read through yet.
We are over to our friends in Redditch this evening, haven't met up for a couple of weeks so will be nice to catch up.
I do believe its Mr Corner 80th today many happy returns and enjoy your family time.
Best wishes to anyone else celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Saturday and may you all find some ☀️.
karmalady you always sound motivated and knowledgeable, like a scientist in your assessment of things.
😊
It’s nice to read how your sewing room with the beautiful view gives you such a feeling of peace and contentment as you busily sit there with your radio on.
Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it's -2°C with a beautiful sky.
Happy birthday to Mr C! I misread your post, Corner, I thought Mr C's parents were coming to lunch!!! 😂
GM, I feel so sorry for you clearing your home and so many memories, on your own. What a difficult thing to have to do. 💐
Well I survived yesterday's visit to the Range. As you would expect of a Marydoll outing, it was not without incident.
I had difficulty getting out of DIL's mini, until I realised the strap of my bag had somehow wrapped itself around my leg.
No matter how I tried, I couldn't release it, due to my mobility issues.
ĎIL had to come to the passenger side, swivel me round, lift my leg ( I couldn"t), then untangle me. She was hysterical with laughter, trying to release me. I was mortified! It did not bode well.
Things went downhill after that.
The range was packed to the rafters with enticing things, which I neither needed, nor had room for, I was like a child in a sweetie shop and got a bit carried away. DIL bought nothing!
Then it was time to grace M&S food with my presence. It was great to have DIL carrying the basket and she suggested the self service checkout. So far so good.
I somehow managed to crash the till three times, trying to use the coupons and vouchers I had.
The poor assistant, who was helping me, was smiling through gritted teeth.
While I was standing, awaiting the assistant for the third time, I felt my foot wet. Puzzled I looked up to see if it was something to do with the air conditioning, nothing.
There was now a puddle at my feet. Had I had an accident? 😕 I then realised that my longline gilet was soaking wet from waist to ankle! 😱
The very patient assistant came back over to see what was wrong. It was then that she noticed my shoulder bag was also wet and something was dripping onto the floor!
A half full bottle of Coke, left over from my snack in the Range, had leaked in my bag. Looking inside, I saw a pool of Coke at the bottom. Everything was soaking wet!
The lovely assistant went away and brought a blue roll, got down on her knees and proceeded to dry me off. What a lovely lady.
Well done M&S!
Poor DIL was so upset for me, but I found it very amusing. Just like the mishaps of previous, good times, when I was out and about. Things were getting back to normal.
On arriving home, everything, my gilet, Kipling bag and knitted dress went into the machine.
On a more positive note, I found a crumpled, soaking wet, tenner in a corner of my bag. I haven't been anywhere since New Year, so I have no idea, where it came from.
The best part of all was no angina pain, nor serious vertigo episode in among all the stress and activity.
Things may be looking up!
I did fall asleep, watching my latest Turkish rubbish drama after I got home. I was exhausted!
I will go back and now read your posts, which has become part of my daily routine, before I feel well enough to get up.
I may even attempt to do some sewing alterations. I have some bargain dresses, which have voluminous sleeves, which make
me look as broad as I am long!
For all those in sick bay, I hope you feel better soon, especially Aggie, after her fall. 💐
Have a good day folks, whatever your plans.
The sun has just come out! Hurrah!
For your daughter, Gingster. 💐
What about phoning 111. I did that when I was very unwell in the summer and couldn't get to speak to a GP.
They were amazing and fast tracked me to A&E, where I was seen immediately. It was such a relief to get help.
Good morning from a chilly Colchester where the sunny blue sky is coming over a bit grey.
Clearing up after a fabulous family night in. Marydoll's post yesterday gave me the idea of a "fakeaway", so we did half and half. Pleased to say that the homemade stuff was scoffed and there are only takeaway noodles left over. They'll be eaten with pork chops tonight.
A quiet weekend in the offing with no firm plans. DS came home for a week off in the early hours so I expect he'll have laundry for me and the cars badly need washing so that'll keep the men occupied.
Happy Birthday to MrCorner 🎁🍾🎂
Love to all 🦩x
Morning all from S Yorks, over cast and uninviting. I had a great time with friend yesterday over coffee and cake tho not so much fun with Sky on the phone, and today its probably just the gym.
Happy birthday to Mr C
Karmalady you might find a Zoom Pilates Class you can join. (I'm surprised the LA doesn't offer cheap classes at local leisure centres?)
There's lots of great stuff on U tube but a Zoom class will give you a chance to chat with the teacher. As a trained yoga teacher I always suggest to people tho its worth if they can to splash out on just one session to get the basics exactly right then go on from there. (Or onto U tube stuff)
Best days all, poorlies take care and enjoy family and outings.
Oh Gingster this must be tough for your daughter and anxiety inducing for you as she has been through such a lot and then tackled a house move. I do hope she feels much better soon and can access help. It must feel lonely to be left like this.
Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton, was going to say sunny, but it has.just clouded over. Showers forecast but should be clear by the time I get to rugby this afternoon. Fingers crossed for a third win in a row!
Lazy morning reading the papers, and must wrap DS's birthday present up ready for tonight. It is his birthday tomorrow, and we are all going out tonight for a meal to celebrate. Think he has picked an Indian restaurant, which will please me; haven't been to one since before DH died, and that's 5 years ago on Monday.......
Take care everyone in all your doings today, and may your weekend go well.
Sunny and bright in south Cornwall. Good morning and hugs to those struggling. Spent a lovely afternoon in Wetherspoons with my daughter-in-law yesterday, eating some very delicious food and chatting to various people as they passed our table. It attracts everyone from families and groups of grannies to Uni art students in their lovely clothes. A real boost. My (arty) daughter-in-law was wearing a long cotton dress and laughed and said, 'I think I look like a wench.'
She didn't, she looked beautiful.
Morning from Dunoon where it is cold but beautiful. I’ll try and attach some photos from yesterday. I especially love the one of the statue of the little girl, so West of Scotland!
Sorry to hear your daughter isn’t well today Gingster, it’s awful that her cancer nurses aren’t supporting her, why is that? Are they very short staffed, even so it’s not okay.
grandMattie this is definitely a hard time, I wish you well.
Happy Birthday to your husband Cornergran, I hope you have a lovely family day for him.
We’re off for a run to Helensburgh this morning, I believe the route from here is beautiful so I’m looking forward to it. Probably a nice lunch too, I feel so lucky.
Wishing everyone a nice weekend.
Thankyou for your kind messages Brook, Susan, Marydoll and Urms re my DD. She’s going back to bed now and she’ll message me later. 🙏
Thanks to you too stillearning. It must be down to staff shortages . Perhaps we’ll try the MacMillan nurses. 🤞
Oh Marydoll, you really aren’t safe to let out of the house! Hope you have recovered now but thank you for sharing. Hope the Corner family have a lovely day and that Gingster’s daughter gets the support she so badly needs.
I have young relatives coming for lunch en route for Gatwick from South Wales and then DS, DDiL, DGS and the dog so more cooking than I have done in a while so had better make a start.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cloudy, cool South Yorkshire. Glad you’ve managed to arrange a Yorkshire get away Mick. DD came over yesterday, we had lunch and then we went out to buy me some shoes. After much faffing about with things with zips I couldn’t manage and things with straps I didn’t like, I bought a pair of smart black leather slip ons which were perfect. I will wear them when DS and DiL come down to take me out to lunch tomorrow. I also bought a new pair of carpet slippers. We had a quick walk round the rest of the shops, lingered in the Pro Cook shop where I saw a nice small wok but didn’t feel inclined to spend £43 pounds on it, and came home!
Today I will make a cake for tomorrow and spend the rest of the day doing not a lot. Maybe a short walk.
Many Happy Returns to Mr Corner on his milestone birthday🎁🎂🍾! Have lots of fun!
Hoping all have a good start to the weekend.
Wishing Mrcorner a very happy 80th birthday with his family around him 🎂🎉
The things your Lil Miss comes out with bring a smile to my face Urm. Matt has also been spot on this week 🤣
Good to hear there was a normal day 🤣in the life of Marydoll at long last.
Good morning all from bright and sunny South Lanarkshire. There’s a dusting of frost on the car roofs.
You’ve such a lot on your plate gM but cope with it all admirably.
Wishing Mr Corner a very happy birthday.
I hope your DD soon feels better Gingster and your little GS too Jax.
Love the photo of the girl in her bright red hat stilllearning, enjoy your day in Helensburgh, gorgeous day for it.
No plans today, I think DH will be watching rugby for a fair part of it. I must tidy away clothes and shoes and possibly fill a bag to donate.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a brighter W Kent. I have to go into town this morning as DD and DGD unexpectedly had dinner with us last night and have eaten into the weeks supplies. Lovely to see them and catch up. I intend to make a cake this afternoon and then curry for dinner.
Happy Birthday Mr Corner
Glad you had a successful if interesting shop Marydoll
gM hope a bit more gets sorted out today
GinsterI hope your daughter can get the help she needs.
Best wishes to all
Good morning from West York's.Happy birthday Mr corner 🎂. Gingster My breast cancer nurses didn't work at weekend I had to call manager on call at the hospital . We are going to sons today haven't been there since start of lockdown ,they have been renovating the house so it was easier for them to come to ours .Their German shepherd dog is 2 now and doesn't know us so no doubt she will get excited hope she doesn't jump up 🤔
Good morning from a cold and damp NE, heating is struggling to warm the house.
Lunch out was good yesterday but traffic was bad, roadworks and a couple of accidents caused hold ups.
Got in touch with friend to see how her DH was feeling with covid and she said she was now feeling really unwell. After three years of avoiding infection and all vaccinations up to date she is not happy.
I spent the evening preparing food for today, DS and GD2 will visit, GD1 is doing uni open days and will not return until tomorrow.
Happy Birthday to Mr C
Have a good day all.
Stilllearning, Helensburgh is on my list of places to visit, on what DH calls his childminding days. (The days he takes me out),
I spent many happy, residential school trips at Castle Toward, just outside Dunoon.
I loved that place.
We used to get the bus into Dunoon, while the children were with the instructors or cycled ( me on a child's bike) to the pub in Inellan ( no alcohol was consumed!》 for lunch.
Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Another day for drying washing outside
, then a day here catching up on various things, out tomorrow.
Hope all works out well Mick, you too grandMattie, I should start clearing clutter here even though I’m not moving, happy birthday Mr. C and thoughts to “Gingster*
I had missed Gingster's post. So sorry that DD isn't getting the support she needs.
Are there Macmillan nurses? Or what about a Maggie's centre?
I found the latter a huge comfort if only for me, when DH was in the midst of cancer treatment. You don't need to explain anything and there's always a cup of tea and a smiling face
Good morning everyone. It’s cloudy with a chill wind in my corner of Lancashire. Mr. B and I are off out to lunch with family. Happy Saturday 🦩🦩
