Good morning from the NE where it is 4 degrees and damp after rain all day yesterday and overnight.
Hairdresser coming at 9am so I will need to get a move on.
Yesterday I got all the washing and ironing done which means I can relax today.
Friend from Cumbria rang last night and we chatted for an hour, she has a problem with dampness in her flat and the mould is so bad it is affecting her health. Not a really old building, 20+ years, she is at the end of her tether.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from a rather grey Northampton, with showers forecast. Despite yesterday's rain, my washing dried nicely.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and comments yesterday,.which were a great comfort. It was a day of memories for me as it was the fifth anniversary of DH's death. Luckily I was busy for most of the day, so little time to mope. Went to yoga first thing, then walked over to the pub for Knit and Natter, where there was quite a large group of us, and we chatted merrily away while I got to grips with the complicated decreases in my pattern.
Then three of us decided to stay on for lunch, which went down well with a glass of wine.
Spent the rest of the afternoon at home trying to find a USB cable to transfer photos from my phone to the laptop, but to no avail. Have ordered one, but I fear it will be the wrong one.

Off to the hairdresser in less than an hour, (and am not showered or dressed yet!). Having colour and foils then cut and blow dry. Will be nice and relaxing I hope.

Home for a quick lunch then out on a health walk if the weather behaves itself. On the way home I must call into the paper shop to pay my bill, and cancel my papers during my up-coming holiday.

Hope everyone's day goes well and that some sunshine appears to cheer us.

.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Not too bad a day. Last night was misty and murky so no lights or even stars.
I hope you see Aurora some day gMattie

Your heating system sounds most efficient Karmalady. I'm impressed 😁

My big house is just chilly but I'm out quite a lot to keep warm grin

An excellent talk at the historical society last night showing the local shops through the ages.
It certainly puts a different perspective on a place. Plenty of reports of rowdy drunkenness in the 1800s and young people spending money on clothes , as reported by the minister. Shocking stuff.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry with some sunshine and seems mild out. I’m off on the train at noon into Manchester Oxford Road as I’m going with friends to see ‘Joyland’.

Jaxjacky Tue 28-Feb-23 08:16:37

Morning from sun and frost in S Hants. Voluntary phone was busy yesterday, our team won at quiz night in the local, well chuffed!
Today I have some cleaning to do and phone calls to make, leftover gammon for dinner.
Enjoy meals out today, grandchildren and catch ups. Good luck with appointments and travel.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very gloomy, very chilly South Yorkshire. I was planning a fairly long drive out today but if rain is forecast it won’t be wise - we’ll have to see. I haven’t written it off yet. If it falls through, I have plenty to do inside.
Unusually for me, I can’t think of anything else to say, except have the best day you can folks!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 28-Feb-23 08:25:00

Morning all

The sun is trying to break through, which is always welcome.

Busy day today as it’s eldest son’s “0” birthday. He and his wife are coming down at lunchtime ready for a birthday meal this evening. Four AC and partners and six GC I shall be spoilt having them all together, brings out the mother hen in me 🤣🐓

Before they arrive I have to take the cake and balloons to the restaurant in readiness.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning from a grey dampish looking Suffolk. Off for the first time to a meeting of the Arts Society in Aldeburgh this morning with a couple of friends. Apparently there is coffee and cake first and the person who invited us says it can be quite difficult to get everyone into the room for the talk.

Sounds like my kind of morning. Hope everyone’s contain some pleasure.

GrannySomerset Tue 28-Feb-23 08:34:16

DD has just brought me a mug of tea so I must get a move on. We are having lunch out plus my friend and neighbour so I am looking forward to it and need to scrub up. Always lovely to see DD and the force field of energy she brings with her.

Goodness, gMattie, you shame me with the way you are tackling getting rid of stuff. I am still talking about dealing with the books which I intended to do last summer. Must try harder!

ShazzaKanazza Tue 28-Feb-23 08:35:58

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a damp drizzly Hull.

Gingster I’m so pleased your DD managed to see and speak to someone at last 💐

I have had my sister visiting from Canterbury for a couple of days it’s been busy with family coming here to see her so lots of chat. She was very taken with our Granddaughters and grandson. Our Grandson mostly ignores everyone until he really knows them but he kept glancing over at her and she engages with him so he’s very comfortable with her being here.

Thankfully my GS can go into school today so just picking him up later as usual. Looking after the GDs as is usual on a Tuesday evening. We are going to come home via country and up high there are far reaching views so possibly a view of the Aurora 🤞 it’s clear.

Have a lovely day everyone and thoughts to those with worries and illness 🌻🌻

ShazzaKanazza Tue 28-Feb-23 08:37:18

Happy birthday to your son GrannyGravy 🎂🎉

Gingster Tue 28-Feb-23 08:44:04

Liberty - you’ll be up the road from our cottage by the sea. Is the arts meeting being held in the theatre?

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 28-Feb-23 08:54:59

Good morning all from bright but cloudy Harrogate
I did not see the northern lights either, just the clouds had an eerie glow!
Today we celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary. Not sure how I’ve survived!! We are going out for a meal tonight.
Today, don’t know what’s happening- the DGCs schools don’t let anyone know when they are on strike and have lost my sympathy. We are available if necessary otherwise will go out for a run in the car.
Have the best day possible folks

EkwaNimitee Tue 28-Feb-23 09:03:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy wet Carlisle where it just might brighten up.
I'll get through some housework this morning then need to book a hotel in London for each end of a holiday trip later in the summer. They, the hotels, are getting expensive!
No lights here, too cloudy. I've never seen them in this country. DH and I once spent a week above the Arctic Circle over the spring equinox when the sun was supposed to be very active. Nothing except a brief silvery sparkle one night. A few years later I did it solo over Christmas and we had beautiful displays several nights running. I have say they are more muted when seen by the naked eye, photographs are more vivid.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Liberty Tue 28-Feb-23 09:04:48

Gingster….I’m not driving so I’m not sure where we are going! I’d assumed the meeting was in the cinema! I’ll let you know when I’ve been and get home.

hulahoop Tue 28-Feb-23 09:07:49

Good morning from a drizzly West York's. We have two of our grandchildren here today. I hadn't slept much following phone call from son he was in a accident at work, melton plastic hit him in face and back pictures not good but hopefully face burns don't look too deep some on back a lot deeper .

hollysteers Tue 28-Feb-23 09:09:12

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
My visit to the dentist yesterday went well as the dentist said he would leave the back tooth that had troubled me alone. After the antibiotics, it’s no trouble now. Even so, I worked myself up a bit thinking he might do more.

Off to music club this afternoon, I’m not on the desk, but singing and have my Spanish shawl and rose for hair for Carmen😁. I’m still helping setting up and clearing away though.
You will really enjoy your Harrogate break Mick after all this medical stuff.
Happy anniversary Gwenisgreat1 and thoughts to anyone with worries.

hollysteers Tue 28-Feb-23 09:10:15

Hope your son is ok hulahoop.

Taichinan Tue 28-Feb-23 09:11:34

Good morning all. There's a welcome glimpse of blue sky overhead on the Angus coast. I'll not mention the surrounding rain clouds!
Nothing at all to mention from here. No aurora because of thick cloud. DGD3 is still talking about it though - it certainly made a lasting impression on her.
I felt very much under the weather yesterday and just dozed on and off all day, so hopefully today my mojo will have returned. There's washing in the machine ready to be pegged out, and I need to pop down into town for milk and bread - such exciting doings!
Glad you've got your trip to Harrogate to look forward to Mick - a change is as good as a rest, so they say. Grandmattie, all I can say is Phew! You are some efficient whirlwind - my admiration knows no bounds.
Loving hearing about everyone's dancing DGD's. Mine was born dancing and when she was little (and not so little) couldn't walk across a room without throwing in a pirouette! She's now following her dream and enters her degree year at college next year, studying dance. Wonderful to see. I do wonder where it will take her .......
Have a lovely day everyone x

Good morning all from damp and drizzly South Lanarkshire.

Have a lovely family gathering GG.

Happy Anniversary Gwen and MrGwen. Enjoy your meal this evening.

Dentist this morning for a check up then this afternoon I’m meeting a Gransnet friend for coffee which I’m looking forward to.

I’m another who has never seen the Aurora despite living in Scotland. Sadly it was too cloudy last night.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Taichinan Tue 28-Feb-23 09:16:05

hulahoop so sorry to hear about your son. No wonder sleep escaped you! flowers for his speedy recovery.

Jaxjacky Tue 28-Feb-23 09:16:14

Happy Anniversary Gwenisgreat enjoy your meal out 🥂
That sounds nasty hulahoop I hope for a swift recovery 🤞

baubles Tue 28-Feb-23 09:17:36

Oh hulahoop, that sounds nasty. I hope your son isn’t too badly injured.

Urmstongran Tue 28-Feb-23 09:30:16

Matt.

My head is elsewhere this morning.

Forsythia Tue 28-Feb-23 09:34:02

Bright but cold here on the south coast without frost today. It’s deceptive as it looks nice but it is so cold! A quieter day here with phone calls to BT to renew our contract and, hopefully, get a cheaper package. Possibly weed a few borders if the sun warms up.
I hope you pace yourself GrandMattie as you have a lot going on. We moved last year, so much to sort out and get rid of. I would find it hard to go through again very soon.

A good day to one and all.
