So once you've been a GN member for a whilte, been around the block a few times, you'll have witnessed some feeding frenzies on controversial topics.

Some of those I remember from yester year are:

* Baby milk shortage (being bought up and sold overseas)

* Boris Johnson (at one point praised for his intelligence, yes, really!)

* Jeremy Corbyn (a real Marmite character)

*Anything to do with trans issues.

What are some of the topics that have caused metaphorical fisticuffs that you remember?

Those of us in the cliques have self cleaning toilets

Hetty58 Wed 01-Mar-23 21:27:11

(avoid cliques like the plague, I'd say)

There's a weird obsession with grannies desperate to babysit newborns (unbelievable) - and a corresponding (strangely isolated) new mother hating interfering MIL (really?), much talk of rules and boundaries - with little mention of friends or fathers.

These are often repeated, much familiar problems worldwide (apparently), with only changes in names and locations - yet never encountered outside of GN (when things are a tad quiet and boring).

A constant stream of dire problems with relatives, fashion, shopping, driving, presents, invitations, cards, illness, food, royals, pets, death and politics - all of which bypass me, thank Heavens!

Never mind loo brushes, FannyCornforth once admitted to flushing paper handkerchiefs down the lavatory!

Should we not do that?

Toilet paper is designed to disintegrate when wet so they don’t clump, nose blowing tissues are designed to be strong so they don’t disintegrate when you blow your nose. They will block the drain. Wet wipes are the absolute worst .

Galaxy Wed 01-Mar-23 21:07:11

That's as may be but have you got a loo brush.

VioletSky Wed 01-Mar-23 20:43:45

I'm on the top 3 main cliques

Callistemon21 Wed 01-Mar-23 19:56:02

But whatever it was, you are absolutely right! 😁

Galaxy Wed 01-Mar-23 19:51:53

I have never been in a clique either so not sure of the procedure. I think we have to agree with each other on everything from now on in.
They never ever say what they use instead molly.

I agree, Galaxy 😁

Toilet brushes with those horrible bristles that get all clogged up........noooooo!!!
I do allow the disposable ones though where the used bit can be flushed away.
As for big knickers, it's a yes from me but I do agree that a person has to work up the courage to swap the scanty smalls for the industrial strength bloomer. It took a while and reminded me of the many false starts I had when I stopped dying my hair. I think of it as a bonfire of the vanities.

Smileless2012 Wed 01-Mar-23 19:29:21

No to big knickers and Hotter shoes. 🙀🙀🙀

GrannyGravy13 Wed 01-Mar-23 17:02:39

FannyCornforth

Don’t they just!
I’m firmly against the loo brush.
As was my mother, and my maternal grandmother (I’m not sure on the opinions of my paternal grandmother, I must check)
Please Galaxy, don’t judge me for this - it would be a shame to fall out after all this time sad

I detest loo brushes, refuse to have them.

Galaxy Wed 01-Mar-23 16:47:50

I am now in a clique with sodapop, whether she wants it or not smile
