Happy St David's Day to Anniebach and all Welsh Grans wherever you may be.

I hope you have a good day with Welsh cakes and perhaps a bowl of cawl for dinner! 🙂

We cooked the potatoes separately.

It was very good. Perhaps not excellent as there was too much veg in proportion to lamb.
But I didn't have more.

I've never made it in the slow cooker before so 🤞 but I've been out and left it slowly simmering. It smells good 🙂

I am so jealous Callistemon

I made some in my slow cooker once, it was vile and certainly never smelt good. Enjoy.

I'm another proud Mamgu of a little boy wearing a Welsh team rugby shirt today. His Daddy wishes...

Callistemon Yes please to cawl - haven't had any for a few years now 😋 Welsh cakes on the other hand appear quite often.

Happy St David’s Day. My mum and dad were both half Welsh not sure what that makes me!

Happy St. David's Day everyone. My late husband was born and educated in the Brecon Beacons. He was a border at Christ College, Brecon.
A part of me belongs to Wales.
Last Saturday evening I attended a wonderful concert given by the South Wales Male Voice Choir. Their singing, and their joy in singing was so uplifting. The choir had boarded their coach before 6am to go to Oxfordshire, and were still entertaining us at 9.30pm. I thank them. If there's anyone reading this who is connected with the choir please tell them how much they were appreciated. flowers. smile

Thank you Annie. One of my students asked me the question the other day- and I didn't know the answer. Your reply is so much better than Google,

Anniebach Wed 01-Mar-23 12:42:19

Half of me is Welsh.
My ❤️ is Welsh I think.
My father used to wear a small leek with a narcissus every St. David's day. He wore them together as a buttonhole.

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus!

Happy St David’s Day! daffodil

Good advice about leeks and hamsters Anniebach! It made me laugh (but I do like hamsters!)

Anniebach Wed 01-Mar-23 12:09:42

I was a very proud granny when my elder granddaughter won
both the Bard’s Chair and Crown at one school Eisteddfod, to win both 🤗

Callistemon21 Wed 01-Mar-23 12:00:23

Sorry, I shouldn't have laughed, I do like hamsters!

I'm missing going to a school Eisteddfod, they used to be fun. ☹

Anniebach Wed 01-Mar-23 11:55:51

The leek is the oldest Welsh symbol, St.David ordered his soldiers to wear them in battle , we won the battle .

The Daffodil much later, David Lloyd George only Welsh PM
campaigned for the Daffodil and wore it in parliament on
St.David’s Day.

My darling Catherine when in junior school shared a leek with the class hamster, it died, so don’t feed leeks to hamsters please. 😲

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus everybody. The sun is shining and the wind is blowing for us today. My daffodils aren’t showing their heads either yet, it’s too cold.

Callistemon21 Wed 01-Mar-23 11:29:30

I think because the daffodil is the national flower of Wales and also that St David apparently urged Welsh soldiers to wear leeks in their helmets to identify their own side when they were fighting the Saxons.

Help! Where's Anniebach? She will know.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 we mustn't forget the Welsh dragon as well.
