Marijuana, Cannabis etc (plus Bonus Harry)

I decided at an early age to look after my health.

I am not the strongest person in the first place, and felt I couldnt afford to potentially mess about with my health in any way.

What an absolute Dick that Harry is. Who cares what he did? I had some marijuana once but never again, it hurt when I inhaled so it is not for me. A couple of my daughters went through a marijuana phase at uni but they soon gave it up, thank goodness.

A friend's son's smoking of cannabis has done irreparable harm to his brain. He has to be frequently sectioned and frankly his life is ruined - plus that of his poor Mum who has to cope with him.

Young adult male, a distant relative, smoked marijuana and the `strict` parents tried verything to get him off it. It changed his personality and his mental health, he became psychotic and one day the mum`s back was turned and he killed himself

So Harry smoked it in uk and now he has `come out` he is sending a poor message to the youth of today. Oh it is ok, Harry smoked it. Well he certainly gave no thought to those poor s*ds who are in the pit and being used by the drug gangs to supply his habit

I do remember both my children dabbling with skunk, as others have said nothing like the milder stuff around in the 60s, it did them no good at all. Thank God it didn't become habit forming and those days are behind them.

Of course the benefits of Marijuana in the context of pain relief is a different matter and has many benefits I believe for conditions like MS for example and should be easier for sufferers to obtain. It's the recreational drug use contributing towards criminality that is such a problem.

Not a victimless crime, surely most people, including Harry would know now how drugs are moved around the country via youngsters sucked into County Lines. I imagine it's much the same in the US where criminal gangs are involved. Anyway isn't it illegal there in many states? I seem to remember John Lennon nearly getting himself deported due to his drug use.

Like others I know a good few people who have been greatly affected by cannabis (mis) use.

I’ve just found out a bit more about the interview / therapy session that Harry did.
It’s actually ‘pay per view’ (around £20)
Therapy as entertainment sounds unethical.
The therapists that I know wouldn’t have engaged in anything like that

I don’t think the people using skunk would enjoy a milder smoke and that’s what they’ve been smoking for years.

Nobody would make anything of that because it would probably end up compromising half of the government. Although cocaine would catch more of them. Certainly those who came from the finance industry. The City of London runs on cocaine.

Yes, in my twenties.When I first encountered dope I did not want to indulge but then I got high on the exhaled smoke so started. Different times in the mid sixties but we used to meet in various flats, sit around listening to music and getting gently stoned. What we did not do is got and get pissed fall about the place getting into fights and throwing up in the street.

Both of us managed to stop smoking when we spent a holiday in ales with friends and smoked joints all day. No cigarettes on their own. The end of our holiday coincided with the end of the dope but we didn't start smoking again.
I also stopped smoking dope because bronchitis meant I could not inhale. So that was that.

I and friends also experimented with pyschedelic drugs, starting with banana skins baked in the oven. Didn't work. Then we moved on to acid taken on sugar lumps. Very gentle and interesting. This was before Sergeant Pepper.

The skunk available now is a far cry from the “ dope “ that was around in the 80’s.
It is the cause of a lot of MH problems and anxiety.

Use occasionally...2 or 3 times a year...very relaxing...Harry obviously has issues..sadly.....no wonder..

I unfortunately know a young man, well he’d be middle aged now, whose whole life was ruined by using cannabis it certainly tipped his mental health over and he’s never had a ‘
‘normal’ life of career, marriage, children and a lovely chap too
Alcohol is legal and look at the problem that causes I m not convinced it should be legalised other than in medically controlled circumstances

I think it was on the episode last week that they mentioned the come back of some of these drugs. Very interesting.

No, have never been offerred it, was in my 50s before I recognized the smell.

I support its legal, medical use.

Thank you, I am going to watch this.

I do know that a few states here in the US have legalized mushrooms for use in very specific cases and that the research looks promising for PTSD treatment, but I have never dug deep in the science.

I will start this tonight as I don't have anything queued up.
