Just that really.

Not changing. Applying rightful titles maybe? Bestowing? Not sure what word I am looking for here.

Callistemon21 Fri 10-Mar-23 21:57:13

For about a half a year I’ve been trying to figure out the collective British mindset.
Impossible task, there isn't one!! 😂

Could it be that King Charles finally got around to changing titles with Archie and Lilli at the same time he made Edward the DofE and there is no drama? I mean, they have been invited to the coronation haven't they?

Probably.

If I am ever ladylike I want someone to come and shoot me.
GSM can provide legal defense for you.

Germanshpherdsmum, Casdon, Faye 17… and others…
I knew I was setting myself up for a rebuke when I posted my comment. For about a half a year I’ve been trying to figure out the collective British mindset. But I’ve been only tapping into a small segment of society - older women. It’s been a trip, what can I say. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Some provide great reading, others not so much.

For those that have to express their verbal “rage”, well, Gransnet still allows you to do that. It just isn’t ladylike and by the time I was finished reading it - I. Was. Exhausted.

This thread was overwhelmingly negative and there was hardly any room for any counter viewpoint. Thx to Casdon who expressed that. I think others were afraid to tread here. There’s nothing like a gang of older women. 😆

Harry’s tentacle is his branch on the family tree, bloodline. Go ahead and make fun - that can’t be erased.

The original post was about a child and veered off from there. Nothing went over my head, I totally understand the passion. I’m getting to know the Ladies by name and “brand.”
Peace

I think it might be our King to decide if the children are designated Prince and Princess. The parents haven’t dared, so far, to call their son Prince Archie, have they

Joseanne Fri 10-Mar-23 20:28:32

Aha, so saucisson and chou. An acquired taste.

Callistemon21 Fri 10-Mar-23 20:19:43

I think it was saucisson!

Joseanne Fri 10-Mar-23 20:18:54

As in choux

I read that Prince Philip called the late Queen ‘Cabbage’. What a shame they didn’t pick that nickname.

A brilliant suggestion!

Ah, how sweet!

Mon petit chou

Do recall reading that Philip also called his wife sausage!

Perhaps he meant "my little pastry"?

Callistemon21 Fri 10-Mar-23 20:16:44

Tentacle 🤔
Are you likening Harry to an octopus?

One tentacle still clinging on to prestige and money, seven others waving around looking for a secure foothold somewhere?

Poor Harry, that's not a kind analogy.

Callistemon21 Fri 10-Mar-23 20:12:52

Oh, I think you're right, it was sausage, not cabbage!!

Quite a few dogs at Crufts called Archie!
Not heard a Lilibet yet.

Shizam Fri 10-Mar-23 19:49:00

I quite like a bit of royal news/gossip, but even I’ve switched off now. Those two are boring. No magic or allure. Just whingeing and out for money. Feel sorry for those children.

A tentacle?
Anyway, sorry that we’ve disappointed you Grundy sad

Testicle, maybe?

Perhaps you don’t fully understand the feelings of British citizens. We ‘get it’ more than you realise.

You missed a word out, you should have said ‘some’ British citizens. It would be fair to say that views expressed in some of the more extreme messages on Gransnet aren’t shared by the majority of other people in the country - and I’d guess many others neither know or care.

Today’s thread is a major disappointment. I’m rather neutral on the Monarchy and the Royals. But reading the comments here is exactly the reason I dumped Facebook 5 yrs ago - cynicism, snark, smearing, lies and hate (basically). I also detect how “conspiracy theories” are born. 🙄

I guess the Grand Ladies I always felt that you were, collectively are having a bad day.

There are people who THRIVE on this stuff - you can tell by the number of pages this has produced. It’s freedom of speech and opinions have risen to the top these days.

After Harry’s Megxit, I’m thinking the Heir is feeling mighty jealous since he has to live a life of a hands-tied, censored, caged existence, always on-stage.

Harry chose freedom, but he’s also still a tentacle - therefore he’s looking out for his children. Give the little tykes a break. You just don’t get it that part.
Longing for more graciousness.

polly123 Fri 10-Mar-23 18:02:36

What a grim pair. First of all the late Queen's personal nickname and now this. Why don't they just stay in la la land and give us all a break.

pascal30 Fri 10-Mar-23 17:37:24

Trottoir

Mostly I object to her being named the queen's childhood nickname.
I thought that was a passive aggressive act.

YES they are passive aggressive in most of their dealings,, look at the way they are refusing to commit to going to the coronation

maddyone Fri 10-Mar-23 17:35:59

Do you think so Fanny?I don’t know really. Isn’t Harry basically Meghan’s claim to fame? Won’t she become irrelevant even more irrelevant than she is already if Harry is out of the picture?
