Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and raining here in brackley at the present moment .
Yesterdays trip to the JR was about 10 minutes talk on having surgery done in the next month or so , but I have to build up my strength as to the heart with exercise, which recent weather has not helped.
Anyway things to pack of the Harrogate for the weekend to s hotel I told the coach travel firm about , so will see many changes as last time I stayed there between lockdowns was a very limited service .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from the winter wonderland that is South Yorkshire. What snow we had yesterday had all but disappeared but this morning, there is seven inches of snow on the garden table, and I can’t see the wheels on my car. Okay, it’s only a Mini, but you get the picture! And it’s still snowing. So another day in for yours truly. I have enough food and drink to keep me going, so we’ll see what transpires. The sun is supposed to put in an appearance this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Kalu, it is at NV, but I'm not sure, who its with. All a bit vague.

ginny Fri 10-Mar-23 08:37:27

Good morning. It is snowing here in N. Bucks and settling at the moment. ‘They’ tell us it will stop by 10.
The lady who usually does shopping for MIL is I’ll so we will have to do that and take it to her
First we have DGS3 for a couple of hours.
I shall be having lunch with 3 friends so a good chat . We have known each other for over 40 years and our children grew up together.
Safe journeys if you are out and about and kind thought to all under par.

Gingster Fri 10-Mar-23 08:37:20

Enjoy your weekend*Liberty*. There’s Nothing like ‘old’‘friends ! They know you inside and out and all the memories you have made together.
I have two special friends - we started school together at the age of 5 , have grown up together, bridesmaids to each other, Godparents to each others children. We meet as often as we can. A Golden Thread indeed!

Taichinan Fri 10-Mar-23 08:36:54

Enjoy your special weekend Liberty.

Kalu Fri 10-Mar-23 08:34:31

Good morning from Glasgow. 0deg. with a light covering of snow, blue skies and sunshine.
Is your appointment with Joe S at the NV Marydoll? One of DH’s clinics, respiratory.

Pneumonia vaccination at 11.00, collect my long puffa coat, altered just in time for this weather, after which, the day is my own.

Hoping a good Friday is ahead for all.

Liberty Fri 10-Mar-23 08:24:41

Good morning all from a very wet and windy Suffolk.

I’m off to London in a couple of hours for a long weekend with 4 of my school friends. We met 65 years ago as newbies at our northern girls’ grammar school and have remained friends ever since.

Our contact over those years has changed but we’ve always been in touch in 1 way or another. There was less face to face contact whilst our children were growing up but for the last 25 years or so we have had get togethers, apart from during lockdowns, 3 or 4 times a year. We all live in different parts of the country so London is a good venue for us but we have been to Edinburgh,Harrogate, York, Newcastle and to the south of France amongst other places.

However long the gap between meeting up,the years just melt away and we never tire of chatting. DH can’t imagine how we keep going for 3-4 days at a time but we always do.

Of course we all knew one another’s parents and siblings and have joined in the celebrations of the birth of grandchildren and the sadness over the deaths of all now of parents and a couple of siblings. The links between us feel like golden threads, always there if not obviously visible.

We have tickets for the new David Hockney ‘ Light’ exhibition and hope to get into the Sky Garden as all tickets have gone but they do apparently admit ticketless people on the day. Surely a group of friendly elderly women have a chance of admittance!

So I must go and pack now and am so looking forward to the joys of friendship. We last met in late November and,in spite of WhatApp and Zoom for catch ups, face to face gatherings are SO much better.

Hope you all have some joy in your weekend. I’ll catch up with you on my return on Monday.

Urmstongran Fri 10-Mar-23 08:16:16

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It seems a tad milder? There is a little snow on the rooftops from what must have fallen during the night but the roads and pavements are just wet. Hopefully that’s all we’re getting. I’m not a fan. I like it on Christmas cards.

Himself goes for injection No.3 out of 5 this morning. We’ve gotten into the habit of meeting downstairs in the square in Starbucks where we sit and have a lovely coffee and discuss how his appointment went. We hold hands like teenagers. I think I’m a bit needy at present.

We are babysitting tonight while our daughter and son in law come into Urmston to try a newish Lebanese restaurant here that some of their friends are raving about. If they like it, we might give it a whirl when we come back from Málaga, where, all being well, we are headed next weekend.

harrigran Fri 10-Mar-23 08:15:33

Good morning from a very cold NE where we have had considerable overnight snow.
I am going out to lunch in Durham with my friend who is now over covid.
SIL is travelling to Brussels by train today, hoping he doesn't encounter any problems, I believe there are strikes in France.
Safe journey for those travelling today and have a good day everyone.

Grammaretto Fri 10-Mar-23 08:13:53

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Snow is lying here but it's sunny. There was a blizzard while we were at our ceilidh dance class last night so we 4 imagined we'd need to be there for the night! Thankfully we made it home on the main road.

I shall do my shift at the community shop this morning and transport my DSiL into Edinburgh later on. No-one in DH family drives so I like to assist when I can.

Safe travels gMattie and cornergran and anyone else venturing out today
Have a relaxing day everyone.

Taichinan Fri 10-Mar-23 08:11:26

Good morningMick and all from a sunny Angus coast - only +1° though, so definitely not balmy. Yesterday when I got home from tai chi I found sunny corner in the garden and sat outside with a cuppa. Well wrapped up of course, but it was so lovely. Two hours later I took this photo. No wonder the weather fascinates us so much in this country!
Tai chi was lovely as usual. Next week a couple of pre-covid members want to come back to join it so I hope that doesn't spoil the class dynamic.
Safe journey home today grandmattie and I'm glad you have good news to go back to. I'm sure the short break will have done you the power of good.
Kalu wonderful news about your DGD yesterday - many congratulations.
Bluebalou enjoy your painting weekend. I used to love painting breaks in days gone by - you always learn so much. And Brook enjoy another warm day in Spain - you certainly picked the perfect time to be away!
I have nothing planned for the next few days - except perhaps to have my coffee break in that sunny corner again!
Enjoy whatever you are doing today, and safe journeys to the travellers x

Marydoll Fri 10-Mar-23 08:10:21

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow! Its 10°C, with a smattering of snow.
Poor DH has been forced to cancel his golf and it takes a lot for them to cancel.

Mick, DH and I were talking yesterday, about my recent lack of exercise and my need to build up my stamina to help my heart.
We have made a decision to get out walking daily, even if for only ten minutes. I have found having a stick helps, could you try something like that?
Gentle exercise, as we all know, is so beneficial for those with heart problems.
However, the cold weather makes it difficult to breathe. Like you, I'm between a rock and a hard place.

Yesterday's mail brought a few surprises. Two large envelopes from Royal mail intrigued me.
Inside one, was a first a first day issue envelope of Flying Scotland stamps, with a special edition coin included, with King Charles on it.
The second envelope contained an illustrated book of Flying Scotsman stamps. They of course are collectors' items.
I knew right away, this had to be my SIL, who knows I have a passion for steam trains, especially the Flying Scotsman. (Travelled on it a number of times,)
He is so good to me. 🥰
Recently, I found my long lost, childhood stamp album, so these will be going with that.

The second surprise was a respiratory appointment for a hospital in Glasgow. It's a bit strange, not one of my usual hospitals.
Kalu, you know it well.
In December 2021, my GP referred me, because my asthma and bronchiectasis review had raised concerns. Better late than never I suppose, especially as my GP hasn't checked up since!
It"s a bit ironic really, because I had been going to the respiratory clinic for thirty years, then a new consultant discharged me. Two years later I was back, then he discharged me again.
My RA consultant referred me once more, this time it was the Cystic Fibrosis consultant, then I was eventually discharged! Now I'm back again. Better to have kept me on the clinic list in the first place.

Safe travels to all on the road/sea/air/ railway. You are a very busy lot.
I had planned to try and get out for a few things, but DH has insisted the cold air is not good for me.
I have reluctantly agreed with him.
Have a good day folks.

Pittcity Fri 10-Mar-23 08:07:05

Good morning from a still cold and wet Colchester. The freezing rain didn't let up at all yesterday.
I will spend an hour or two working on my Family tree and DNA matches because a distant cousin was on last night's Zoom meeting and he and I have been asked to illustrate our relationship at the next meeting.
A good excuse to stay in the warm and dry.
Love to all 🦩 x

Gingster Fri 10-Mar-23 08:06:32

Good morning all and we have rain and very strong winds here on the Suffolk coast. What weather we’ve had this week!
We haven’t been able to go out much but it’s been a relaxing break away . ‘Home’ tomorrow and straight into ‘doings’. All the family coming for lunch on Sunday. I’ve made cheesecake and will make sausage rolls today to take back. A buffet will be fine!

Tv man came yesterday and installed a newHD box 👍. Good prompt service from a rather taciturn man but he always gets the job done and comes when he says he will.

DH took his old car into a garage a few miles away. It’s still plodding on - a bit like me and we’re the same age 😂.

Today we’ll walk little pooch in the forest as it’s more sheltered there. Indoor pursuits again today. .

Safe journey home GM
Enjoy your weekend break Mick.

Take care all 🌷

brook2704 Fri 10-Mar-23 08:06:22

Good morning everyone from Cartagena where another warm day is forecast. I’m lucky to be missing the freezing temperatures in Inverness, apparently it was -6º on the school run yesterday!
Safe journey home today gMattie pleased things are moving with your house purchase and your DD is visiting too
The bedroom window is open and I can hear the street below just coming to life with the cafe owners setting out their tables and chairs etc ready for the day ahead. I think we’re taking a little boat trip today but not much else planned yet
Enjoy your watercolour painting course Blue it sounds interesting, you too mick in Harrogate and everyone else out and about
Hoping all goes well for your DD today Jax
Take care everyone if travelling in the bad weather today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope the day is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

monk08 Fri 10-Mar-23 08:05:57

Good morning all from a snow covered Black country and its still coming down heavily. It had almost cleared when we came back from the club yesterday evening in the rain, so very shocked to find it white over again this morning.
DH prescription ready so will pull on my wellies and wander round, other than that think it's back to my book.
Take care all those on the move, enjoy your Friday whatever your plans ☀️.

dragonfly46 Fri 10-Mar-23 08:00:09

Good morning from snowy Leicestershire, we had hoped to go on our abhorred trip to see friends in Manchester today but as the snow continues to fall it looks doubtful.

Susan56 Fri 10-Mar-23 07:53:16

Good morning from Shropshire where it is still snowing❄️❄️❄️🙄

DD was going to bring the children over and we were going to walk up to the main road with the sledge to collect them but SIL is back from the early milking and has said no way as the roads are treacherous.

We will clear the snow off the conservatory roof again as last time it snowed this heavily as it started to melt it brought the gutters down.Other than that a day of keeping warm and reading. The house is already cleaned within an inch of its life and as we can’t get out #lazygran it is!

Safe travels all on the move and take care anyone who is out and about☃️

NannyJan53 Fri 10-Mar-23 07:52:26

Good morning from a very white over Black Country, where it is currently snowing heavily. It had all melted away by late afternoon yesterday, but now back with a vengance.

So plans on hold again, as I don't fancy going out in this. Sorted out the freezer yesterday and listed contents drawer by drawer on a whiteboard yesterday. So at least we know what is in there and where it is. Just looking for jobs now smile

Wishing you all a pleasant day. Stay safe and warm everyone.

baubles Fri 10-Mar-23 07:37:24

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire, we have just a light covering of snow.

Glad things are proceeding in preparation for your surgery Mick.

The wind was indeed fierce in the Capital yesterday gM, which gallery did you visit? Good to hear that there’s progress with your house purchase.

DS viewed yet another house yesterday, they’re getting a little despondent though as houses are selling for ridiculous amounts over the asking price.

Work again today then straight over to DD’s as her eldest has a birthday tomorrow so we’re dropping off her gifts this evening as she has an outing with a couple of friends on the day.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

ShazzaKanazza Fri 10-Mar-23 07:29:27

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s snowing heavily and white over. It looks set in for the day❄️

I need to go over to Bridlington to take my uncle some shopping and see him after his cataract op but I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to driving in bad weather when they say don’t travel unless absolutely necessary I do take it literally.

Hope everyone travelling today has a safe enjoyable journey.
Have a lovely day and take care if you have snow. 🌻❄️

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Mar-23 07:20:28

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -1° with clear skies. A little warmer Grandmattie! Safe journey home. I'm glad things are moving with your house sale. BlueBalou have a lovely painting weekend. I'm quite jealous. Ash I hope the performance goes well. Cornergran enjoy your trip.
Yesterday was a quiet day because of the snow. I cancelled my lunch out in the wilds as I really don't like driving in snow. It did melt a bit but not enough to change my mind. My aunt popped in. It is always really good to see her and I'm very fond of her. Then I made bread. The rest of the day was quiet. I snoozed a little as I hadn't slept well.
Today I feel better as I had a better sleep. I'll do some housework and washings. I might go to Aldi and investigate the middle aisles. But a peaceful day ahead. Have a good day all.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 10-Mar-23 07:08:02

Morning all

Another day another grey sky here in S E Essex. I am off to the gym first thing, a quick chatter and catch up then back kntome to pick up The Imp from pre-school.

I think we shall go out to our local Indian Restaurant this evening to give the kitchen a rest 🤣

Safe travels Mick , grandMattie and cornergran

Keep warm, have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

BlueBalou Fri 10-Mar-23 07:07:57

Good morning from wet Wiltshire where the snow has thankfully melted 😊
Yesterday was a slushy, drizzling, thick fog day, gloomy and dank.
DH and DD arrived at lunchtime, following some holdups on the motorway.
Today I’m off for the weekend to a watercolour painting break, a lovely venue with wonderful food so really looking forward to it. I don’t look forward to the driving but needs must!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend x

karmalady Fri 10-Mar-23 07:07:48

Good morning, s somerset is dull, rainy and windy

Seems as though another slow -mo restful quiet day is on the cards, same as yesterday. I did enjoy yesterday and did a lot of knitting as well as standing -up pottering and purposefully using my stepper and stairs.

I am feeling blessed to have a warm home, warm bed, food and hobbies to keep me entertained
