Happy birthday Nannytopsy ❤️
Hi to all kitchen pals, I’m just in after a busy day, got myself a cuppa in my favourite mug and collapsed on the sofa 😀
A very Happy Birthday nannytopsy, I hope you enjoyed your special birthday lunch and enjoy the rest of your day! 💐🎂🥂🎉
Soop well done with all those listings, I hope you get some buyers soon
A very good price for your nails Jax, now don’t jinx the weather!
A lovely family holiday to look forward to grandmabatty
Great news blossoming, so pleased for you 😀
Safe journey tomorrow corner sounds like you’ve had a really lovely time away with many happy memories
Hello everyone! I’m glad you have got your belongings listed soop. All you need to do now is sell them.
It’s my birthday today so we have been out for lunch with DS & DiL. I have been baking for the WI café tomorrow and now that I have finished my coffee I am finally heading out to my garden! Better late than never
Whoop, whoop Blossoming great news.
I too moved some money around online earlier Grandmabattycrumbs, passwords galore, I understand why, but it stretches the brain.
Went out to seet a very nice lady and had my toenails painted, I’ve used her for years, still only £10 for shellac, the weather will turn now!
Busy there neine , I’m a sloven in comparison.
Blossoming that's good to hear
Good afternoon, a quick visit. Just home from the hospital, the Botox is working and eyes are once more working together. The double vision is settled, they will see me again in a couple of months and I’m to ring them if any problems in the meantime. Happy Bunny
Well done soop. All sounds far too complex for me
We’re homeward bound tomorrow so once I’ve recovered from a very long walk around a hugely interesting National Trust property I’ll be sorting. No rush tomorrow. We’ll head for a last look at the sea front and harbour, hope a picture we both liked but dithered over (how much???) is still there and perhaps sit with some fish and chips for lunch. We’ll wander back, finish packing and then drift home, it all seems easier and more relaxed than leaving early on Friday.
I’ll have the same trauma when we’re back grandmab. Replacement flooring next week requires access to the piggy bank which is fiercely guarded, something for which I’m grateful if only I could access it without twenty questions most of which I’m certain I never knew the answers to.
I’m in awe of the energy many of you have, please can everyone slow down and not leave me feeling both lazy and guilty?
Take care. TOYA.
Soop well done. I'm a first class putter offer of things. Today I reordered my prescription and took some money out of my pension plan to pay for a holiday with dd, sil and the boys and to do some diy. It involved a lot of reading online and chatting to a very nice man but fingers crossed it'll be sorted before May closes. Why does accessing your own money have to be so difficult? Anyway, I have weeded and swept outside and tidied the kitchen as well. I'm about to have lunch. The last of the chicken and rice soup and a sandwich. Have a good day all
Naughtyneine You should be a writer. Yours is a most descriptive post.
ann A wee outing, a change of scene and good company...it does wonders for the spirit.
Grandmabatty Take a bow. You are an amazing granny.
brook You also deserve a good granny star.
After much tearing out of hair (and deep purple blasphemes) I have managed to photograph, measure, describe in detail many treasured/no longer needed items for sale on eBay. Plus, I have also listed my exercise bike and two summer jackets on the local Facebook marketing page. All I need do now is remain hopeful and exercise patience in spades.
Well after the whirlwind weekend I'm now in Derby. We had a lovely weekend... Gardening for hours ..out to dinner with friends on Saturday evening to the Mussels event in the nearby village pub. Sunday our friends came for lunch from their new home in Wiltshire and we spent a happy afternoon catching up. I made chicken liver pate and we had it with the Rachel Allen bread that I'm now hooked on. Then we had her duck with redcurrant sauce...and rhubarb fool to follow. I made another of the chocolate cakes too that went down a storm at tea time. On Monday we were out in the garden early and I was in shorts ( OH calls them Daisy Dukes....I didn't know what he meant when he first called them that.. Apparently it was a character in a TV programme who wore similar ones ) I think there is very probably a vast difference in how she looked in them and how I do but his eyes lit up when I appeared in them ...
He has been on a course in Derby for the last few days so we travelled up on Monday evening...a very easy journey given that it was a Bank Holiday. The hotel had forgotten to tell us the restaurant would be closing early so we had to go and get some bits from Tesco Express instead. On arriving back at the hotel.. we discovered a large dead rat just outside the entrance which completely traumatised me... They are the only thing that sends me into a spiral...I can deal with spiders...snakes.. you name it but rats have me clutching my nether regions and feeling like I'm going to pass out. The hotel seemed quite blasé about it so it's obviously not the first time it's happened. Last night we met up with friends who live in Streetley...S and I play Words with Friends (Scrabble on a phone app) and we started 'chatting' via the messaging option...and then met up about 3 years ago and are now firm friends. It's funny how sometimes we are meant to meet people in life isn't it? We are travelling home separately today as I have to work in Bath this evening and DOH will travel back with a colleague. It will be lovely to see the dogs again...even if Fiendish Finlay has chewed through the internet cable.
Yia... I'm sorry you've lost your friend but also for her sake happy that she is no longer suffering. May she rest in peace. I hope too you get your garden apartment.
SueD...believe me 4 Belgian Shepherds would probably have been simpler than 4 teenage girls!!!!
Blossoming...ouch ouch... I've done the same in the past too...I did put an Elastoplast round it and the next one as I was wearing flip flops for ease and didn't want to catch it on anything. It did seem to help.
Ann... Your outing seems to have lifted your spirits...maybe you could arrange a few more in the coming weeks...Is there a local coach company that do day trips and pick up near you...?
Soop...well done on even attempting to do eBay...
I've spotted a garden centre on my route to the M5 so I'm off in search of the elusive Mallow that I've been searching for.....
Have a good day everyone.
So lovely to have such a strong loving bond with your DGD Ann, I’m sure you mean the world to her
It’s strange that here in Inverness we also have a Dunelm and a Matalan almost next to each other too - I’m always popping in looking for bargains!
It’s hard work for you with both boys Grandmabatty but you are making memories for yourself and them.
We only ever minded our eldest GD and I am incredibly close to her and she is repaying that, not that we wanted repaying you understand, in spades.
She really looks after me now.
My friend rang at lunchtime to see if I wanted to go to Dunelm with her so I quickly put a bit of “face” on and off we went.
I bought a few household bits, nothing special and then we called in Matalan which is just round the corner but nothing there caught my eye then off to the PO to post some letters and then home.
I was very tired but pleased I was out of the house.
Best wishes to you all in your doings and carings.
Have the best night you can.
Soop so sorry to hear about your friend.
I'm off to an early bed as the boys tired me out today. Lots of playing, two trips to the swings and a walk to the motorway bridge to watch the lorries and cars. I'm pooped. Night all
Sorry to hear the sad news about your friend soop, sending condolences 💐
Another lovely day here, the sun came out all afternoon and it was quite warmish. I got a few jobs done in the garden and a load of washing dry
We picked DGD up from school and then taxied her to her dance class and choir classes, it’s always a bit of a rush on Tuesdays as with just 15mins in between classes and a dash across town. Anyhow she’s back here now, had a bubble bath with pink sparkly bubbles and has gone to bed happily 😴
Lovely to have you with us, dustyangel
brook Your photograph is picture postcard perfect.
My favourite snooker player - Luca, won the world championship. I am thrilled on his behalf.
I continue to struggle with listings on eBay. NEVER AGAIN! I did manage to sell £31.50 worth of items in the village car boot sale at the weekend. All helps towards bridging the gap twixt the cost of the previous stroller and the new one. It's true...no pain, no gain.
Yia I am sorry to hear that your dear friend has died. Our friend of many years has also died. His funeral is on Friday. He has been in the local care home for a very long time.
annsixty You have a great deal to contend with. I wish that I could give you a gentle, comforting hug.
Blossoming When I read that you had broken your toe, I winced. That will have been very, very painful.
Didn’t win quiz, but it was fun.
Sounds like a great day annsixty. You too corner precious memories made.
Hope your toe isn’t throbbing Blossoming such a tiny thing can be so very painful.
Thank you all for your kind messages regarding my friend,it means a lot.
Oh dear Blossoming, sending healing thoughts.
Sleep well Corner sounds like you had a hectic but lovely family weekend.
Pleased you enjoyed your day Ann. We did that area in our motorhome a good few years ago and loved it.
Sleep well everyone.
Popping in while I’m still awake. The final family group disappeared about an hour ago. We all headed back to the beach this morning for more sandcastle construction along with a series of canals. The teenagers headed for the sea, my blood pressure elevated. We had lunch together before saying goodbye to one family group and setting of with those remaining for a (far too) long walk. It all feels very empty and oh so quiet now. It’s likely the last time we could do this type of get together with everyone. I’m feeling very sad as well as happy that the weekend has been such a success. We really appreciate them being with us.
I’m more than pleased you had such a good day ann. Well deserved.
Good luck with securing another person to deal with that grass charley. Hope you find someone soon.
Eyes are closing now. I feel a very early night coming on. TOYA.
Good evening everyone.
I am back from my outing, I can’t imagine why we thought that Castleton on a Bank Holiday Monday was a good idea.
The whole world and his entire household was there.
People must have parked up around 6am.
The pub my companion rang to book was doing walk in only so we travelled on , through Hope , and found a very nice one with good food .
We then travelled round Ladybower Dam through to Glossop and so to home.
It was a lovely day, quite mild but not sunny.
The countryside was magnificent.
I hope many of you have found such satisfaction and happiness in your day.
Best wishes to all of you under the weather or caring for someone who is.
Back to routine tomorrow until next weekend when we have another Bank Holiday ( and the Coronation ) to look forward to.
I shall have the TV on but definitely won’t be glued to it.
Blossoming it will take 6 weeks for that toe to heal and it is the other toes which should be splinted if they break.
I sat outside yesterday having coffee for the first time this year, watching my washing dry.
I will not bore you with the long story but I had my grass trimmed for the first time in ages. The fellow argued I could not possibly own so much grass. I know I am elderly but stupid I am not. I have more than a vague idea of what I own.
He took one look and doubled the price. I went into poor mode. He did a lousy job and refused to mow it afterwards. I will have to find somebody else asap.
My grass cutter walked out at the end of last year because my neighbour's dogs use my open-plan land as their personal loo. I am not allowed to fit fencing.
Oh my goodness Blossoming hoping your little toe heals as quickly as possible
I’ve had a lovely day today, a Zumba class at the gym this morning and then DH and I had a drive over to Corrieshalloch Gorge for a walk around. The National Trust have opened up new visitor centre there and redone the paths so it’s looking good. We’ve had mixed weather though, sunshine and showers.
Such a nuisance when a stone chips the windscreen Llfl, hope it’s sorted out easily for you tomorrow
Good luck with the quiz tonight Jax
Golly Blossoming! I broke a toe once and it hurt! At least it was the summer so didn’t have to worry about cramming a shoe on!
Today I have been mainly shopping in Waitrose, collecting new bed linen from Habitat (via Argos and Sainsbury’s), organising our gardener for tomorrow, and arranging for Autoglass to come and repair a chipped windscreen (a large stone leapt off the road and hit my car windscreen yesterday). OH bought me two lovely presents for my 70th. First, a beautiful leather handbag. Second a Cuisinart food processor. It has so many parts that I’ve been looking at videos on YouTube to see how everything fits together. I have had to order a new cover. My old processor was quite small and its cover had lasted from 1990! OH has just told me that the sofa in the Conservatory (3 years old and not used that often) has a split in the wood under the seat. Agggh!!! I’ve found the original paperwork but there’s no mention of a guarantee. Ho hum. Have a good evening folks.
Good afternoon dear soop and everyone. Sorry to hear about your toe Blossoming, very painful and even when the worst is over you have the nuisance of fitting it into shoes as it can feel as if it doesn’t belong to you. Or does your dodgy foot feel like that anyway?
👋 to Grannmarie and Annsixty thank you for the best wishes and I hope you are feeling better today Ann.
Sorry to hear about tour good friend Yia my condolences.
I’ve not yet tried any summer clothes on Grannmarie, I think they need a good sort out, I do hold on to old favourites.
I got out for a walk this morning, then it rained, it’s warmer out now. My friend called to pick up some very smelly concentrated fertiliser for his allotment. We have a reciprocal arrangement as he lives in a flat, I bring on plants for him, we share the crop.
Quiz tonight, better start revising!
