Hello all. I’m resting in my cabin after a morning spent walking around Bratislava and then eating a rather large lunch back on board. In less than two hours time we are being served with a special Afternoon Tea before dinner at 7 pm. The food is delicious and plentiful. OH is loving the different cheeses. Have a good afternoon/evening.

Jax Lovely to hear that Imogen has coped with delays. I trust that she will finally enjoy the remainder of her trip.

I am wrapping gifts and deciding what I need to take to Glasgow. I am very excited at the prospect of family time. Sorry about the photos being all wonky. Can't think why.

I need to clean the house thoroughly. Something I like doing prior to a wee trip. My mother and grandmother always did likewise. wink

Friends will house-sit and feed our creatures. At this point, I send you all my love. Continue to take the best possible care of yourselves. I shall be back in our kitchen (with photos) on Thursday. smile moon

So glad Imogen is now on her way Jax, I was wondering how she’d be affected.

Love your walker Soop. I’m a little envious as I can’t use one thanks to the dodgy arm and shoulder! I tried for about a week but had to send it back.

I slept most of yesterday evening, will try to catch up on Kitchen news today.

Delighted Imogen is now properly on her way. So many more than frustrated travellers. One of ours has booked a Dover crossing in July. We sort of wish he’d picked a different departure port.

That’s very swish soop, it will make such a difference. . You’ll be able to relax and be confident about your mobility, excellent.

Hope your brother and sister in law are on their way soon granmarie. We don’t leave the country now. While regretful in some ways on balance having no such worries more than makes up for it.

Take is easy brook, fatigue fighting is hard work in its own. Hope your leg is behaving granmarie. We were chatting with friends about the sense of surprise when our bodies no longer just work.

Best be off. I’m told a short walk will do us good. Am I convinced? Nope grin.

Take care everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 02-Apr-23 10:12:57

Good to hear Imogen has arrived safely, I do hope she enjoys her trip.

Jaxjacky Sun 02-Apr-23 09:13:30

She’s just had breakfast in Germany, slept all the way from Calais, thank you for your kind thoughts, hope to post a snow picture later.

Nannytopsy Sun 02-Apr-23 05:07:13

Diver is in such a mess, mostly because the French customs have to apply the rules fully. Also many coaches full of young people who have to get off and go through passport control singly for their passports to be scanned. In the past, random coaches were selected and just the passports were collected then brought back. The schools did the paperwork in advance.

Grannmarie Sat 01-Apr-23 23:18:47

Thank you, Brook and Soop. 🥰 DH and I watched all the Saturday evening game shows and I did some knitting for my DSISTER2's wee granddaughter, so the leg was well rested.

Soop, you look amazing, and the walker looks pretty swish too! It will give great support and confidence when you are out and about.

Brook, you are wise to pace yourself, a wee bit at a time. I hope your DS enjoys his skiing trip.

Aww, Jaxjacky, poor Imogen, what a frustrating start to her longed for holiday. I hope they are not delayed too long.

My brother, sister in law and dear dog in America have had their BA flight home cancelled twice this weekend because of the strike at Heathrow. They should have left Chicago on Friday, arriving in London today, then driving to Scotland, to avoid putting dear dog on another flight, arriving tomorrow. But they are still in US, waiting for BA to let them know when they'll get a flight.

LLL, your river cruise sounds fantastic, hope you and your OH enjoy every minute. My sisters and I joined a river cruise boat one evening in Budapest for dinner and entertainment, it was excellent, very memorable.

How very disappointing for Imogen and all her friends expecting a lovely skiing trip.
The strikers just don't think about how their actions impact on ordinary folk.
I hope they get there in time to enjoy.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 01-Apr-23 20:09:00

Lovely photos Soop! I love your purple top too.

Grandmabatty Sat 01-Apr-23 18:55:56

That is indeed rotten Jaxjacky. Poor Imogen

brook2704 Sat 01-Apr-23 17:22:06

Oh no that’s awful Jax poor girl. I saw the travel chaos on the news this morning, they mentioned coaches and school trips and I immediately thought of Imogen, but didn’t know how she was travelling. What a shame for her and her school pals, so much wasted time. I hope she’s eventually on her way and has a really good holiday

Lovely lovely pictures soop the walker looks good but you look even better! I love the colour of your top - thanks for sharing

Jaxjacky Sat 01-Apr-23 16:44:38

Crossed posts, just the job soop.

Jaxjacky Sat 01-Apr-23 16:43:32

Unfortunately brook she’s in the mayhem at Dover, last I heard they were at passport control, that was an hour ago, so far 14 hours delayed, what a mess. She’s not been before, might not go again!
Sounds perfect llfl your OH is outnumbered!
We’ve had rain here until a couple of hours ago, the garden is drenched, I hope to at least potter out there tomorrow.
Enjoy your ending all.

soop Sat 01-Apr-23 16:42:56

Grannmarie Bless you. You have done quite enough in your garden. Now...listen to your body...and rest. flowers

We have been visiting our pals in the village. It was they who very kindly paid for the consultation with the orthopaedic surgeon at Ross Hall.

I promised you lovely lot pics of my new smart stroller. It will be a great help during our coming trip to Glasgow. I use my arm crutch in the house. Outdoors, the stroller is marvellous.

brook2704 Sat 01-Apr-23 16:17:04

How lovely to hear from you on holiday llfl your river cruise sounds wonderful, something DH and I would love to try one day. Enjoy every minute and hope the weather is good too
Grannmarie you are so kind with a wee message and mention for everybody, I hope you’re having a good day and your leg isn’t too painful
It’s been a dry day here with a fair bit of sunshine so I’ve been out and about in the garden, just gentle pottering with lots of sit downs. I think the post covid fatigue is very real so I’m still taking it easy. It’ll be busy next week though with the start of the school holidays.
Hoping Imogen has a great holiday Jax and didn’t get caught up in any travel delays. Has she ski’d before ? I’ve never tried it but I got a message from DS this morning, apparently the skiing is good at the moment!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 01-Apr-23 14:53:15

Just popping in quickly. The boat is now heading to Bratislava where we will spend tomorrow. All good so far. Lovely cabins and delicious food. Three quarters of the passengers are women! OH had his favourite Gorgonzola cheese at lunch, so ripe it was almost escaping off the plate.

Grannmarie Sat 01-Apr-23 12:27:28

Annsixtyflowers Thinking of you.
🐣🐣🐣Well done, Cornergran, I must get a move on !

Grannmarie Sat 01-Apr-23 12:20:44

Good afternoon, lovely Kitchen people! Thank you all so very much for your kind wishes about my wonky leg, much appreciated.
Grandmabatty, how lovely to be invited to read at your dear friend's funeral, I'm sure you'll do her proud. Very touching.
Blossoming, glad to hear you've got your eye clinic appointment. I'm still waiting for word of my follow up appointment at Cardiology.
Neine, thank you for your delicious treats, you are very accomplished! I've never been a baker, I'm more a soups and stews cook! Finlay is adorable, I hope your other pets soon welcome him.
Brook, take care with your covid recovery, it can leave you quite weak. Get lots of rest.
Doodle, I hope things improve soon for you and MrD. Rest when you need to. I'm no stranger to a wee siesta myself. It's restorative!
Nannytopsy, I'm very slow these days, and that was before I hurt my leg...I'm so far behind I think I'm first. DiL1 sent me a nice photo of their Easter decorations, I usually reciprocate with mine but I'm not organised yet. I've still to finish Easter cleaning, then I'll put out the bits and bobs. Enjoy your family time.
Jaxjacky, I hope Imogen has a safe journey and a wonderful holiday in Austria, so exciting for her!
Wishing the Soops, LLL, and all on their travels/ meeting family a wonderful time.
Thinking of all with worries, illness or sorrow.
Have the best weekend possible. TOYA. 🥰

Jaxjacky Fri 31-Mar-23 21:17:24

I hope thé magnésium helps Doodle 🤞
Oh Grannmarie rest up there, popping doesn’t sound good at all, our garden was out of bounds today, heavy rain and windy.
Than you for the treats neine, supper! Enjoy your baking, lots of people have visitors over the next two weeks.
My daughter popped in earlier with the two grandchildren, Imogen beyond excited, a long journey for her to Austria tomorrow, where it’s snowing now (she was reading us snow reports). We hope she has the best time.
We went to the local earlier, very busy, good to see.
Enjoy your evening all.

Nannytopsy Fri 31-Mar-23 21:16:40

grannmarie I was so glad to read that you have only just got into your garden - it makes me feel better! We have had so much rain and our clay soil is very claggy. There are some areas of lovely loam but where I need to work is more clay. The forecast for next week is more rain too.
Enjoy your time with the family soops. We have ours on Sunday. We have missed seeing Fergus for a whole month! Will he still remember us?
Have a good weekend everyone!

Grandmabatty Fri 31-Mar-23 20:43:55

Brook the art pieces are not connected except they are all pastels. I've had them lying about for months and just hadn't got round to framing them. I have a full day's art workshop tomorrow on figure drawing so I need the space.

Doodle Fri 31-Mar-23 17:39:12

Jaxjacky interesting you found magnesium spray helps for cramp. DH has heart failure and is undergoing diuretic treatment which is causing his RLS to be worse and cramps.
DH always used to rely on quinine which worked wonders for him but he can’t take it now because of the heart failure.
I have been reading up about magnesium and been out this morning for magnesium salts to soak his feet and magnesium gel (couldn’t find a spray) hopping it helps.
Soop poor Mr Soop with those cramps. Hope the magnesium spray helps. Quinine works too.
Sorry been AWOL a lot. Things been a bit difficult recently and we are so tired.
Hope all the poorly Kitcheners are on the mend soon.
Baggs didn’t know about your wrist. How painful. Hope you recover well. Your mud room looks a bit ……muddy!
Take care all. Thinking of you 💕

brook2704 Fri 31-Mar-23 17:18:01

Thank you for the treats neine they sound delicious and hope your cooking all goes well tomorrow. That’s what I should be doing really but I’m a bit behind. I did book a grocery delivery slot for Sunday so I can do an online order tomorrow once I’ve decided what to get….😀
Sorry you’ve hurt your leg grannmarie it sounds painful but hope it’s gradually getting better. Good that you got out into the garden a bit though, it’s lovely to see the spring colours. I made a start this afternoon too and planted up a couple of colourful pots to put at the front door as a cheery welcome for our visitors next week - they’ll look nice in the sunshine, fingers crossed!
I bet the newly framed and hung artwork looks good grandmabatty how do you find the time …. ,!! Are they a set of 3 in a theme ?
Good you’ve a date for your next eye appointment now Blossoming, take care

Blossoming Fri 31-Mar-23 17:08:38

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. I heard from the eye clinic yesterday, my Botox appointment is on 19th April so not long to wait.

Those foodie gifts sound delicious Neine and I’m sure they’ll be appreciated.

No gardening here today Granmarie, the weather is awful! Your leg sounds painful, hope it’s better soon,

Glad you enjoyed a visit Grandmabatty and glad the wheels are working well for you Soop.

We are having haggis for supper, frozen so hope it will be good. Mashed potato and turnip to go with.

Have a good evening all ❤️
