Naughtyneine those goodies sound amazing. Grannmarie so sorry to hear that you are injured. Take great care. I picked up frames this morning for art work and hung three pieces. Then dd called in for a cuppa with dgs2. It was a short visit but a welcome one. Salmon fillet and new potatoes for dinner.

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!🥰

Glad your wheels have arrived in time for the Glasgow trip, Soop, I hope MrSoop can sleep well. Has anyone tried a bar of soap in the bed for restless legs? I'm sure I read something about it on GN.

I managed my first tidy up of the garden, well just some patio pots so far, heathers, pansies and primulas. I've been a bit limited recently with a sprained leg. I was getting up, with my usual difficulty, from a kneeling position when I felt, and heard!!! something pop behind my knee, very painful at the time. When I phoned the surgery for advice, I was warned not to use ibuprofen tablets or gel cos I'm on aspirin, so it's just been paracetamol and tubagrip, and resting it regularly....it'll heal in its own time. I've read a few books ! 📚

I'm going to put my feet up now and catch up on all the kitchen news.
TOYA🥰

Happy Hols LLFL....
The Soops are on their way Glasgow....be warned...they are now happily mobile!!!
Annsixty...well done for holding back the tears...I wouldn't have been able to for sure.... What is they say? ..sometimes a memory falls out of my eyes and rolls down my cheeks. They often do for me when I think about my Grandsons. It's blowing a houli here today.... I've done more cleaning and even scrubbed the grout in the shower with a bleach and bicarb solution. Tomorrow is going to be a cook fest. I'm making more of that wonderful Rachel Allen brown bread recipe...I can't eat any til Easter Sunday but I want to make enough to see us through and to give a loaf to out PP along with some cheese and homemade spiced pickled pears and plum apple and pear chutney. He is a bit of a foodie so I thought it would be a nice alternative to an Easter Egg. I'll pop some on the side for you to try too.

annsixty I am pleased that your granddaughter was able to share the special memories that you treasure of your dear husband. flowers

Llfl Happy travels. Enjoy your holiday.

Mr Soop and I eventually managed to assemble the walker. It is smart, sturdy and will enable me to be more mobile. I will show photo later today.

A difficult day annsixty sending 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 30-Mar-23 21:56:30

Hello all. We are just about ready for our holiday tomorrow. The taxi will be here at 8.15 am. Our cleaning ladies came for a final time. We have found someone locally. The gardener came and did heaps of weeding in the pouring rainsad The wardrobe for our new spare room was delivered and installed and
Looks pretty good. Book group was fun. We talked about books with a library theme. I talked about the Midnight Library and the book by Alan Bennet about the Queen joining a library - The Uncommon Reader. For next month, we were each given a book wrapped in paper and told to open it when we got home. Mine is a travel book written by Rory Stewart about walking with his father. Have a good evening.

Jaxjacky Thu 30-Mar-23 21:53:19

I posted earlier?
I’ll try again..
Good you’re improving brook, but easy does it.
Have wheels, will travel soop!
A poignant day annsixty, lovely to have the video memories and your dear granddaughter to share it with you.
MrJ back from bowls, I rang Imogen earlier to wish her a good time, Austria does have snow.
Night all.

annsixty Thu 30-Mar-23 21:15:32

Thankyou Blossoming
It was but happy memories and gratitude for his life.

A tough day for you annsixty flowers

annsixty Thu 30-Mar-23 20:49:17

I had to use a walker about the house soop when I was waiting for my hip operation and although I don’t really like using it ( it makes me feel old) when I have been away for a couple of days with my friend I have to take it so that I can get about.
My friend’s version has a seat but mine is a simple walker, you will really appreciate it in Glasgow.
I have had a very quiet day, some spent in bed, my H would have been 87 today, an emotional day for my GD and me.
We watched a video of him on his 82nd birthday and tears threatened but didn’t fall .
We ( well I ) raised a glass to him over our meal.
Have the best evening you can everyone.

Blossoming Thu 30-Mar-23 19:18:53

Good evening all, it’s been a showery day here so no gardening done. However I have had a very productive day deep cleaning the kitchen. There’s a bit more to do but the worst bit is out of the way! I’m really tired now and will probably suffer for it tomorrow but I have the satisfaction of a job done.

I’m sure the reading will be delivered with love Grandmabatty and that’s the most important thing.

Sounds like the pup is settling in well Neine, I hope your soon rid of the cough though.

Glad you enjoyed your lunch Corner, shame about the drenching on the way back!

Take it slowly Brook, it’s tempting to do too much when you get a bit of extra energy!

Have you tried the walker out yet Soop? I couldn’t get on with one because you need both hands but I have a friend who loves hers.

soop Thu 30-Mar-23 17:00:44

Something to celebrate with you lovely lot. The Rollator Walker was delivered a short time ago. Yippee! I shall share a photo with you tomorrow.

All good wishes to my favourite peoples. As Torben was known to say.

smile moon

brook2704 Thu 30-Mar-23 16:26:13

grandmabatty I’m sure you’ll do very well with the reading even though it’ll be so very emotional for you. Yes an honour to be asked but so so difficult. I hope the practicing isn’t too upsetting for you

Sounds like you’ll be well prepared for your trip to see family in Glasgow soop, how lovely is that to look forward to! Hope the walker arrives in time and put to good use

I’ve had a bit more energy today so did some washing and had a look around the garden - some encouraging signs of spring but still a way to go. I hung out some washing and now need to summon up the energy to get it back in! DH has gone over to DD2s to take DGS to football and DGD to brownies.

Sounds like your new Finlay is starting to find his four furry feet neine I bet he’ll be a big hit with your visitors at Easter. I’m feeling a bit like you, we’ve got numerous visitors arriving from next week onwards and I’m not at all ready 😳 … hoping to get a move on with the prep soon although I’ve not even decided on menus yet ….

Hope you’ve dried out a bit now corner and your lunch was good

cornergran Thu 30-Mar-23 15:45:39

Sounds a step forward with your knee soop. Hope the rollator arrives in time.

Progress for you too neine. 🤞 antibiotics do their stuff.

Faffing about day here. Had a nice lunch in a little garden centre where the food is cooked to order. Motivation was needed to stir myself and go out. Food I don’t need to cook works every time grin. Soaked on the way back, it’s a very strange day of warm sunshine followed by torrential rain. The rain is still with us, time it went for a while for sure.

Easter bits and pieces are out, catch up tv time now.

Look after yourselves everyone.

Naughtyneine Thu 30-Mar-23 15:32:14

Afternoon everyone...I think I'm surfacing from the chaos of the last few days... Finally it looks as if Finlay has been accepted or is being accepted by the other 3 'children' and today I managed to shower and put make up on without him being in the bathroom with me. His puppy pen is alongside the dog bed which until about half an hour ago had been abandoned by all and any other surface ( sofa, chair etc) was a substitute of it was far enough away from the little golden bundle who desperately wanted to get to know them. He has been very good at night and makes it to his puppy pad nearly every time. The cough is still here and I've felt very off colour for the last few days . I'm on antibiotics now so hope I feel more energised very soon... We have family arriving Monday and then friends for Easter so it's going to be full on for about 10 days and there is so much still to do if only I felt well. Grrrrr. I'm hoping to get some meals prepped on Saturday ...spag bol...fish pie for Good Friday etc. We are having the same dish on Easter Sunday that we had at Christmas...Duck breasts with redcurrant sauce. It was so easy to prepare and very tasty. We get out meat from a butcher in Honiton and we have never been disappointed. Neither of us can face lamb after living alongside the meadow and for me it's a definite no since being lamb nursery nurse these last few weeks. That said it hasn't stopped me drooling a bit at the thought of roast lamb with rosemary. All is quiet in the 'kennel' just now so I'll try and catch up on a few bits and bobs. I hope poorly peeps big and small get better very soon and that house moves...broken wrists...medical stuff all go well. I promise I will make a list of names very soon!!!!!

Grandmabatty Thu 30-Mar-23 15:19:46

A quiet kitchen this afternoon. Soop enjoy the ironing. As if. 😂
I have done loads of washes and been to the dentist today. The house is tidy and festive for Easter. The weather is pleasantly mild outside and dry so far. I have been asked to do a reading at my friend's funeral therefore I will have to practise it. She specifically asked for me to do it apparently which is a big honour but a challenge. Bolognaise with gnocchi for dinner with plenty of parmesan cheese. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

soop Thu 30-Mar-23 12:29:53

Early afternoon greetings to my favourite Gransnetters.

Mr Soop will be purchasing Magnesium oil spray from the pharmacy. He says to thank you for your thoughtful advice.

I've received a charming letter from the lovely Mr Drummond Mansbridge - (Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ross Hall). He has forwarded a letter to our GP regarding possible steroid injections into my arthritic knee joint.
I am hopeful that the Costway folding rollator mobility walker is delivered in time for our trip to see family in Glasgow. Fingers crossed.

Much love to you all. I have an afternoon of ironing to keep me out of mischief. As if. wink

hulahoop Wed 29-Mar-23 20:44:35

Thank you Blossoming.

Nannytopsy Wed 29-Mar-23 20:41:46

Egg chips and sausage is a meal fit for a queen!
DGS made it to school this morning and I went to pick them up to take them swimming. A very apologetic teacher brought out a boy with his first black eye. A hockey stick incident and I don’t suppose it will be the last! Not his week really 🤣
Cakes ( coffee and walnut plus lemon drizzle) and sausage rolls made for the WI café tomorrow morning. I’m glad we are only on duty once a month. There are virtual samples in the kitchen!
A bottle of wine has been opened and I am sitting down with a glass while Mr T gets dinner.
Hope everyone has a good evening.

Blossoming Wed 29-Mar-23 19:53:19

Good evening all. Good news that your wrist is healing Baggs, I think you’re wise to refuse surgery if not absolutely necessary. Hope you’re soon on the mend Hulahoop. Goodness Grandmabatty you deserve a peaceful evening, egg chips and beans sounds good to me. Glad to hear you’re feeling better Brook and hope you get a good sleep too Ann. Hello Soop, I can’t advise on leg cramps as that’s something I’ve never had. I do worry about possible poor circulation, especially on the weak side, so I do exercise my legs and feet a lot when I’m sitting down.

Goodnight all ❤️

brook2704 Wed 29-Mar-23 16:21:44

Good to hear your wrist is healing well Baggs and surgery isn’t absolutely necessary, it’ll feel so good when you eventually get the plaster off 😀
Thank you grandmabatty I’m doing fine although still feeling a bit wiped out. Pleased to hear the DGSs are a feeling better, you’ll be exhausted by this evening, hope you get a good rest and enjoy your dinner later with your feet up
Sounds like SweetiePie is away on holiday soop, I’m sure he’ll be back soon enough and asking for his favourite cuisine.
No need for apologies on here ann and you’re definitely not at all selfish! I hope you get a better night sleep later tonight, take care
Hoping you’re feeling a bit better soon hula, look after yourself too

soop Wed 29-Mar-23 15:34:11

Thank you for all your interesting and good humoured updates. I shall report back to Mr Soop regarding some helpful advice concerning chronic leg cramps. It would be grand if something reduced the worst of his symptoms. He has no trouble sleeping in his chair. Not every Premier Inn bedroom is furnished accordingly. The room that we've booked for our next brief stay has one (according to the image on the website).

Poorly peeps...continue to take the best possible care of yourselves.

Baggs On with the wellies!

Sweetie Pie hasn't called for well over a week. Naturally I'm fretting. Mr Soop, on the other hand, says that he's a free spirit. Sweetie Pie will present himself when he's ready and not before. wink
