Good afternoon Kitcheners.Hope you all enjoyed Mother’s Day and spent quality time with your families as we did.

Grannmarie Mon 20-Mar-23 13:09:22

Aww, Blossoming, what a shame, hope you recover soon. Rest up as much as you can.

Neine, well done, super bargains!

Grandmabatty, you are wise to balance the difficult days with some normality with the wee boys. Take care.

I found some energy this morning! After Mass I did a big washing, cleaned all the downstairs floors and made a pot of carrot and coriander soup. The washing is currently in the kitchen with the dehumidifier on laundry mode, it's dull and raining here , but much milder than of late.

I'm now on the sofa with throw and cushions, reading Project Hail Mary for Friday's Book Group. It's by Andy Weir, author of The Martian. I can see this making an amazing sci fi film, but it's a tricky read for me cos of all the science and technology stuff. So I'm skimming and scanning to follow the plot and the relationship development, I'm quite invested in that now, although it would not have been my choice. That's the good thing about Book group, it stretches one's reading horizons!

Have a good Monday.

Grandmabatty Mon 20-Mar-23 12:52:48

NaughtyN seriously impressive haul! I'm not good at shopping for bargains. Blossoming poor you. Have a virtual hug from me. I made the decision to look after the boys today as dd needs the childcare and I needed normality. It was the right decision as I feel more like myself. Dgs2 has just howled so I'll be back later

Blossoming Mon 20-Mar-23 12:30:00

Great shopping haul Neine

Naughtyneine Mon 20-Mar-23 12:27:32

Meant to add these to my post. Not to be deterred by the grippy leggings debacle of a couple of weeks ago...I popped into the M and S outlet in my lunch break and came out beaming...a £45 cardigan for £7.50... £35 jumper also £7.50...2 pairs of £45 shoes for £4.99 each and a pretty coloured pair of jeggings for £5. ....and this time they all fit....Yay.

Naughtyneine Mon 20-Mar-23 11:59:14

Ooh Blossoming that sounds painful. Be kind to yourself for the rest of the day. Your hair looks lovely.
Its been lovely to read about all your happy celebrations. I did manage to work over the weekend despite sounding like Elkie Brookes singing lilac wine!!
Neither of us had any appetite at the moment and that's the only plus to this lurgy that we are both losing weight. It was lovely to see do many Mums of all ages out with their children yesterday. For the first time in 4 years my heart didn't feel like it was breaking...
Ann... It's not that long ago that you were having to deal with your GD trauma after her op and here you are now reaching out to another needy soul. You and Grandmabatty need to be kind to yourselves too and take time to recharge your batteries.
Urms...very jealous...of the sun...the steak and the red 🍷. Enjoy your holiday with your lovely man.
I have holiday envy big time.
The three 4 legged children are off to the groomers this afternoon. They always come back smelling divine... It's lasts about 3 hours if I'm lucky.
I hope it's the start of a good week for everyone.

kittylester Mon 20-Mar-23 11:41:02

Oh dear, Blossoming, hope everything feels better soon. Please only do what you have to do and take it gently.

Blossoming Mon 20-Mar-23 10:57:54

Good morning dear Kitcheners. I’m enjoying reading about family time and travels. I had a fall and managed to smash my already sore back on the exercise bike pedal. I thought the damn things were supposed to be good for you!!! I said a few words and managed to get myself up off the floor. I felt shaky and tearful though. I have so many things I need to do but I will have to choose carefully. My arm and back are both hurting and there’s a small and very sore lump on the back of my head. I’m not sure how that got there as I don’t remember banging my head! Best increase the balance exercises…

Thank you for your birthday wishes I had a lovely day with family ,I enjoy seeing cousins playing together even though they don't see a lot of each other. We have been resting today . Sending best wishes to all celebrating birthdays and anniversaries .

annsixty Sun 19-Mar-23 19:13:07

I am late after a busy, confused but nice day.
I hope you have all enjoyed whatever today has brought you.
I send soop very best wishes for her appointments and that she and Baggs have a good catch up.
I am very tired now and will have an early night with my book.
Age is catching up on me so fast😕

Jaxjacky Sun 19-Mar-23 18:47:13

I have a full tum after lunch out with friends, venison casserole then Eton mess, delicious. I’ve seen both children and been given luscious bath&shower stuff from my daughter, beautiful flowers from my son. I had my first ever yoga class this morning, bet I’ll feel that tomorrow.
Ouch nannytopsy hope you’re less sore today. Glad to hear party went well Grandmachrisy, safe journey and fingers crossed soop.
I’m on school run this week, so alarm set for tomorrow, volunteer day too and quiz night.
Enjoy your evening all.

Urmstongran Sun 19-Mar-23 18:46:55

‘Evening All’

Just back up from having a gin with a neighbour - it was lovely to catch up with her, sat in the late sunshine whilst Himself watched Man. Utd at home. Now it’s more chilly as there’s no sun (but no wind) so I’ve put warm trousers on and a jumper as we are off over the road to eat at a new place. It’s great to have a recommendation for our little corner.

I hope your husband’s investigation goes well tomorrow dustyangel and you both receive reassuring news after it.

annsixty what a star you are. My late mum used to say “your reward will be in heaven just don’t be in a hurry to collect it”.
😊

I’m hungry now. I hear the steaks at this place are delicious, so I think with a glass of Ribera my name will be on one of them. Not far to wobble home anyway.

brook2704 Sun 19-Mar-23 18:28:24

Safe travels soop and hope your hospital appointments all go well. It’ll be so lovely for you to see Baggs too- enjoy
I’m impressed with the way you and your DS found your phone grannmarie - didn’t realise you could do that! What a relief you found it though
Sounds like you had a wonderful party grandmachristy, special memories to treasure forever

dustyangel Sun 19-Mar-23 17:32:57

I’m sure I’m too late to say safe travels to * soop* and enjoy your visit to baggs. There’s football on the television and bodies sunbathing so I’m having a bit of a lull and catch up at the same time.

Heartfelt birthday wishes to Mr. Grandmachrisy. I hope he had as happy a day as my DH had.🎂🥳💐

DH has literally just remembered and sprung on me that he has several medical procedures TOMORROW! It will require some fasting and an enema in the morning. Thank goodness son in law is doing the early airport trip.

soop Sun 19-Mar-23 16:38:47

Sending all good wishes to those of our Kitcheners who are celebrating. Safe and comfortable travels to those who have places to go.

A virtual gentle embrace for our Granspals with sorrows to bear.

I shall log off for a few days. Please take the best possible care of yourselves. I know that you will continue to support each other. It's what you do. You are, methinks, super special people with an abundance of kindness to spare. flowers

soop Sun 19-Mar-23 16:29:52

annsixty You, like Grandmabatty are truly good friends. flowers

Have you lovely lot been sneaking your ironing in amongst mine? What a palarva. I've been dashing away with the smoothing iron for two hours. Surely, it cannot be all ours. shock

Blossoming You are a beautiful lady. My hair needs a good trim. I have an appointment this coming Friday.

I am now making preparations for an early start to travel to Glasgow and attend hospital appointments over the next two days. Spending time with Baggs tomorrow afternoon will be a treat. You lovely lot may feel your ears burning as we shall include you in our conversation. smile

Friends and neighbours will be house minding and creature feeding.

Good morning from a mild and dry Co Durham.
Had a wonderful day yesterday celebrating DH 80th birthday which was on Friday. DD2 hosted a large gathering of family from various parts of the country 15 adults and 4 children. Masses of lovely food, copious drinks and much chat. DG met her 1st cousins once removed for the first time ( she’s 8).
Their day was made when the hot tub was filled! They were in and out all afternoon. Then after dark it rained and they all dived in again. Later in the evening Alexa provided music, and for the first time in years I was up rocking and rolling 😀. I am suffering this morning. The birthday boy really enjoyed his day.
Have a good Sunday.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 19-Mar-23 16:28:04

Hello everyone. I’ve had a good day so far. Although I didn’t see any of my children, they all rang at various times with love on Mothering Sunday. Church was a Book of Common Prayer service in a tiny church in the middle of nowhere. Just nine in the congregation plus the priest. She was beautifully dressed in pink. All the ladies were given daffodils. Lunch was immense. Three courses! All the mums were given small bottles of artisan gin flavoured with rhubarb and apple. OH is about to watch football (with headphones on) so I’ll catch up with the papers. I hope you’re all having as good a day as possible.

Grannmarie Sun 19-Mar-23 15:57:11

Many happy returns to the Dustys, Holly, Hulahoop, MrGrandmachrisy and all 🎉 celebrating birthdays recently.
Beautiful hair, Blossoming.

Grannmarie Sun 19-Mar-23 15:47:16

Happy Mothers' Day!💐🍷💕

We had a nice afternoon with DS2, DDIL2 and DGS2 yesterday. The wee boy proudly presented me with a gift bag of Mother's Day goodies, singing 🎶 Happy birthday, cos that's what he associates with gift bags. 🤣
DS1 popped in briefly today with card and gift, poor DDIL1 has Covid, it seems to be prevalent again.

Safe travels, Soop, I hope all goes well with your appointments, and you have a lovely visit with Baggs.

Grandmabatty, thinking of you and your dear friend, your gift to her at this sad time is priceless. 💕💐

Thanks for the stunning holiday photos, and happy holidays to all, especially Urms and Mr U.
Hope you are wearing your sunhat today, Nannytopsy!

Annsixty, your home must be a haven to that young girl at this difficult time in her life, well done you!

I hope YiaYia's buying/ selling is progressing well, what an exciting time. 🏡

I've had a mini drama, lost my phone yesterday. I kept ringing it but no joy. I was suffering some serious separation anxiety cos everything is on it, including GN, email, family photos etc. However all ended well when DS3 and lovely GF arrived today bearing gifts, quickly did 'find my phone' through my kindle ( same Gmail apparently) and tracked my phone to our local lidl! I was seriously impressed.

DSis2 has just returned from America, we might manage a wee walk/ catch up before it gets dark, it's dry and mild at the moment.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, TOYA.

cornergran Sat 18-Mar-23 23:41:53

Lovely photos of warmer climes. Envious? Me? Oh yes!

Definitely not useless grandmabatty, simply being with your friend is the best gift you could give her. Please care for yourself too.

You’re very kind ann, please don’t exhaust yourself.

Looking forward to hearing about your happy place urms. Hope you’re well on the way by now.

Definite hair envy here blossoming, my hair is fine and getting thinner by the day. I’ve never been able to grow it at all.

Good luck to your daughter jax.

Lovely surprise this afternoon when our Littlest and his minders arrived unexpectedly. Littlest came bearing Mothering Sunday flowers whuch were solemnly presented. Lovely though they are I truly don’t want gifts, their company for a short while was more than enough. There was also a delivery of plants from our other son, I’m a lucky soul.

Hope to travel to my favourite coastal spot in the morning, sunshine would be wonderful but no matter if not.

Sleep well everyone.

hulahoop Sat 18-Mar-23 22:43:09

It's been a busy day with family to celebrate my birthday ,we are hoping to get away for a few days soon it's has seemed a long winter .

Nannytopsy Sat 18-Mar-23 22:28:08

Evening all ( to quote Urms )
Been a pretty hot day today and I let my guard down. I have a sore scalp, a red nose and white panda eyes, thanks to the sunglasses. Such an attractive look!

peli Sat 18-Mar-23 22:17:10

Urms: Wishing u & DH safe travel, & plenty of lovely warm sunshine.

Blossoming: Yr pond w/ irises must look gorgeous! Pls send another pic when possible, I'd love to see it!
& btw, yr hair looks great - so silky!

Grandmabatty: A v hard day for u (hug)

Brook: Yr holiday is full of interesting sights, but still sounds so relaxing!
(& I love cinnamon, but I think I'll stick to having it in baked goods lol, rather than in an "Americano")

It's been windy here today, so I stayed indoors & busily did not much.
