Good afternoon kitcheners and Soop. I haven't commented on Urmstongran as I've been in regular contact with her and knew the sad news. I wouldn't want anyone to think I didn't care. I have shopped at Aldi and the cupboards are full. Dd called in with dgs2 and a maple pecan pastry. My favourite. She knows her mum well. Then I met a couple of friends I haven't seen since my friend's funeral. It was lovely to catch up with them. Then I visited mum. It was like day and night compared to yesterday. She had eaten her lunch herself and chatted away. She was 100% with it today. Dd is calling in later so plenty of visitors for her again. The rest of today I will potter. It's very warm here. One load of washing is dry and another is out. I might tidy the garden up. Lamb chops for dinner. I took a notion for them so I will be googling how best to cook them. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

I have now found the very sad post about Urms husband. They will continue to remain in our thoughts. I wish that we could offer some positive comfort to them both.

soop Fri 19-May-23 10:53:49

Oh dear! I have missed whatever news of Urms that is obviously of great concern. Please will a kindly Kitchener enlighten me.

You lovely lot have been gifted with super charged energy. Good for you. You have my respect.

We have a friend helping us with a spot of wallpapering. Mr Soop has taken the car for servicing. I am therefore wondering whether or not to set up the so-called studio for the latest pet portrait. It will be of my poorly sister's new puppy.

Sweetie Pie (feral cat) stayed with us all yesterday evening. He lolled on his tartan rug in the utility room, having feasted on three pouches of high quality feline food, a bowl of nutritious biscuits and a whole tin of tuna in spring water.

Grannmarie not a chance can I draw or paint animals! Soop is the best for those. Welcome back home. Brook all your exercise is paying off! I'm glad you are having a good time with the boys.

Grannmarie Thu 18-May-23 22:13:15

Thank you, Cornergran, I hope you sleep well tonight. 😴

cornergran Thu 18-May-23 22:04:42

Welcome home granmarie. You had a wonderful holiday, Good memories to look back on.

Hoping for a better day for your mum grandmab. With luck tomorrow she’ll be as she has been. It’s all horribly stressful and exhausting for you.

Other peoples kitchens can be a major challenge brook, I’m dreading having to cook for our not so Littlest next week, but then I’m sure he’ll know how all the wondrous equipment works. grin.

It’s been a long day, we headed for a butterfly farm about an hour way this morning. It was superb, I’ve never seen so many butterflies in flight.

I’ll be off now. Eyes are closing. TOYA

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

Soop and Baggs, super photo, I'm so glad you enjoyed your catch up.

Cornergran and Doodle, best wishes for your DHs.

YiaYia, I hope this bungalow is THE ONE🤞.

Brook and LLL, enjoy your family visits and time with precious GC.

Grandmabatty, I hope your Mum picks up again soon. 💕🙏

Neine thank you for the 😂laughs! I can see your doggy tales becoming a very entertaining graphic novel, we just need an illustrator now. I wonder if Grandmabatty, our resident 'lady artist', does animals?

I'm so sorry to catch up on the sad news from Urmstongran, hoping and praying for successful treatment and a speedy recovery for her DH.

We're home now, SueD you're right, it was a very quick week. We had a lovely time, really enjoyed the holiday experience, (photo of our last night in the Marina, lots of lovely clothes shops there
Grandmabatty, quite reasonable too) but to be honest we are finding the actual travelling quite gruelling, DH especially.

Back to reality, a busy family weekend beckons, it'll be great to see them again.

TOYA, NNGB.

Sending love to Urms and Mr Urms.

brook2704 Thu 18-May-23 20:56:16

Sorry to hear your mum hasn’t been that good today grandmabatty, I hope it’s just a temporary setback and she improves again soon. Pleased that you enjoyed your art class and you had some well deserved time to yourself

Hoping the bungalow ticks all the boxes Yia fingers crossed for you 🤞

Both DGS have been good today, I walked them to school and then had a really lazy day sat reading in the upstairs lounge at DD1s. She’s got a 3 storey townhouse so my legs have certainly had a workout today going up and down the stairs - not at all like my bungalow at home! I picked the boys up from school, we had a lovely evening playing a few games and watching a bit of tv. They’ve both been in the bath and they’re tucked up in bed now. They’ve been easy to look after, the most challenging things today were emptying and refilling the bean to cup coffee machine that always seems to flash red lights at me and make strange noises and getting the Quooker tap to work ok … How I wished for a jar of instant coffee and a kettle!

Thinking of Urmstongran 💐

SueDonim Thu 18-May-23 20:24:21

I’ve just been to read the Good Morning thread. I am so sorry to hear about Urms and her dear Mr Urms. 😥

gillgran Thu 18-May-23 18:36:43

GrannyGravy, please give my love & warm wishes to Urmstongran her DH & family, x. I've been thinking of them since I read your post on the Good Morning thread.
I send them my kindest thoughts & prayers.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-May-23 17:50:37

My thoughts are with my dear friend Urmstongran her DH and their family.

Grandmabatty Thu 18-May-23 17:24:26

Yiayia fingers crossed for this house for you! My bungalow was sad and tired and crammed with stuff when I viewed it but it had good bones and I knew it could be mine. I love it now

Blossoming Thu 18-May-23 17:16:05

Hello all. I have had a quiet day, this morning yet more laundry and admin. This afternoon birdwatching from the bridge and a meander along the woodland path. My eye is doing great and I am still protecting it from UV with dark glasses and a brimmed hat.

So sorry your mother has had a setback Grandmabatty flowers

Hope this one works out OK Yia but if it doesn’t the right one for you is out there somewhere.

I think a group kitchen hug is in order for our dear Urmstongran. Always such a kind soul.

Have a good evening all.

Yiayia4 Thu 18-May-23 16:44:48

Hello Kitcheners.Thinking of you Grandmabatty and you also Doodle.💐
Quick catch up have now found a bungalow that we like but again we will need a survey and if the will except our offer, early days.
For our dear Urms.🌻

Grandmabatty Thu 18-May-23 16:32:24

Fingers crossed for your DH Cornergran. And for yours too, Doodle. I hope that the boys are behaving Brook.
A mixed bag today. I really enjoyed my art class. However mum wasn't good at all. She was having to be fed by healthcare workers and wasn't speaking much. Her eyes were closed most of the time too. Disappointing after the progress on Tuesday.
I've run out of a lot of fresh food so it's using up what's there for dinner. Hence a tuna salad. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 18-May-23 16:31:16

Hello soop and everyone. This is my last afternoon in Kew as I’m going home tomorrow. But… I am back again next Friday for the weekend as son and his partner are going to a wedding with no children allowed. I will ask my other son and daughter if they are free to pop over. They both live in South London which is a bit of a trek to Kew, but I’ll ask them. I think OH has enjoyed himself this week, mainly doing bee related things. I’ve enjoyed myself too as once granddaughter was at school I was free. Kew Gardens one day, V&A the next and the National Gallery yesterday. Hope all is well.

soop Thu 18-May-23 16:02:31

Hello lovely peeps. I am scruffy and mucky. Been helping Mr Soop to tidy what we call "the bird's garden" together with Sweetie Pie (feral cat's) apartment. I didn't anticipate being tied up for so long. Hey ho!

Tomorrow, a neighbour will be doing a bit of wallpaper hanging for us. I shall therefore have plenty of time to pop in and catch up with all your happenings as the sitting room will be out of bounds.

Do continue to take good care of yourselves. I'm away for a good shower followed by a refreshing brew.

smile moon

Doodle Wed 17-May-23 22:26:29

Thanksbrooke . DH has had a few (more) problems but has had excellent care and is doing well. Hope you are ok too. 😊

Blossoming Wed 17-May-23 22:12:40

Will also keep my fingers crossed Corner. Glad you’ve arrived safe and sound Brook, hope those boys are little angels. Good result at the dentist Jax

Goodnight all, sleep tight 😴

brook2704 Wed 17-May-23 21:43:08

Fingers crossed for the end of June corner 🤞

brook2704 Wed 17-May-23 21:41:38

Aww beautiful photo soop and baggs*, so pleased you got the chance to catch up 😀😀
I arrived at DD1s in Cambridge mid afternoon and got such a lovely welcome and cuddles from both DGSs, so good to see them all. SiL is away in America with work all this week and DD1 has to go away on a training course for the next two days so I’m in full charge of the boys - they’re so good though it shouldn’t be too bad…. Will let you know how it’s going tomorrow!
Neine you should definitely write a book of your stories🤣
Hoping you’re doing ok Doodle 💐
Hi and a very warm welcome to nightowl

cornergran Wed 17-May-23 21:37:17

A full, unusually chatty day here. Took the misbehaving computer to the computer hospital and had a long chat with the wizard who will operate on it. Chatted for ages to a neighbour, exchanged messages with a friend who has had surgery today and with her worried daughter, then chatted to to two friends on the phone. Also sent an email to the local friend who provided directions when we couldn’t find the computer wizard. Have I done anything else? Not really grin.

Excellent photo soop, we’ll done to the photographer

Have you been watching me unpack summer clothes neine? You did make me smile. Sadly my black bag is quite full. Oops.

Mr C had a date for his surgery today, end of June. We’ll believe it when he’s in theatre as it came with many a warning about the potential for cancellation. Understandable of course.

Would you believe our eldest has been on the phone for an hour? I’m all talked out now.

Goodnight all. Sleep tight.

Doodle Wed 17-May-23 20:15:19

Just a quick visit to say lovely photo Baggs and Soop so pleased you got to meet again.
Do read on occasions but lot on at the moment with hospital trips several times a week. Take care all

SueDonim Wed 17-May-23 20:07:35

What a fab photo, Soop & Baggs! ❤️

Also your foxy friends GG13. 🦊

Neine 🤣🤣

The window cleaner and the lawn mowing people both turned up today to do their respective tasks, as well as the people who care for the communal garden areas. All go here with operatives! We got our GD to her dancing and then back here for her tea before taking her home again. Time for us to wind down now before bedtime.
