The SNP is in a ‘tremendous mess’ apparently.

Since these two stepped down within weeks of one another the SNP seems to be imploding at a rate of knots.

What on Earth is going on? There is so much in-flighting.

Foreign?

Aye.

Foreign.

A foreign government with 59 Scottish MPs.

Are they foreigners too?
🤔

I wouldn't call them or you foreigners, volver as you are British, a citizen of the UK, just as I am although our origins may be different.

Mollygo Thu 23-Mar-23 15:02:11

I consider myself . . .

My self worth

It is my position . . .

I was just reading an article about people who talk about themselves, but it didn’t say anything about foreigners.

I’m just interested to know what was going on that so many top SNP members resigned. Was it to do with the ferries, ferries, ferries, or missing money?

volver3 Thu 23-Mar-23 14:23:19

I don't care if you call me a foreigner or not, because my self worth is not bound up in my nationality. It is my position that Scotland and England are different countries, and if you are from a different country then you are a "foreigner". I'm sure Norwegians and Danes consider each other to be "foreigners". However, as those who pay attention and do not seek to twist posts to their prejudices will have seen, I didn't call anybody a "foreigner".

A government that operates in a different country to the one I inhabit, is by definition, a foreign government. Despite a pro rata number of representatives, the Westminster government will always act in the interests of the majority of its members, and the majority of members represent what is to me, a foreign country.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 23-Mar-23 14:13:35

Would you like us to call you a foreigner? I think not. And we’re not so rude as to even consider doing so.

volver3 Thu 23-Mar-23 13:55:21

Aye.

Foreign.

Aveline Thu 23-Mar-23 13:51:04

Not a 'foreign' government Volver and Scotland has representation there in proportion to our population -as I'm sure you are aware. Now back to the knuckle dragging.grin

I thought Cole-Hamilton made a sensible point, and he made it without resorting to childishness. But Ross.... 🤔

I'm watching Nicola's last FMQ's.

Dougie "three jobs" Ross is a sad little man, really, isn't he?

Nicola: "Here's a list of all the things we've done well"

Dougie: "Aye, but ferries, ferries, ferries...." 🤪

Like her or loathe her, Ms Sturgeon is going to be a hard act to follow; she is very visible on the political stage and a strong personality who will be missed for different reasons

Ross on the other hand, I always find him rather creepy..........

Ooops - did I say "her"? I meant "them" of course. 😊

Foreign?

volver3 Thu 23-Mar-23 12:32:44

Its important to say that some Unionists (no names, no pack drill) think the whole country is full of knuckle draggers who can't make up their own minds about anything and are terribly easily led.

Except the people who agree with her that uniquely in all the world, we need a foreign government to tell us what to do or we'll do ourselves harm.

Aveline Thu 23-Mar-23 12:28:02

Scotland would be infinitely worse off if independent for reasons stated time and again. No practical economic case has ever been out forward. Indeed SNPs own economic situation is currently under police investigation. This is not likely to inspire confidence in them.

From the leafy English Midlands politics in Scotland does not affect me, I understand the wish to be independant and if the majority want that, that should happen.

But in my book independance means just that, a separate nation doing its own thing as it sees fit, because if it is still tied to the U.K. in some way Westminster still will get blamed for shortchanging Scotland.

Would the Scots be better off independent?, comparisons with Norway are made, Scotland has renewable and fossil energy that they could use and sell, there are other resources and fishing to contribute to the economy so I dont see them being worse off.

You're going to have to run that by me again...confused

In woke speak them is the correct terminology.

Oreo Thu 23-Mar-23 08:33:08

Aveline Thu 23-Mar-23 08:20:08

It's just them deflecting again Oreo

Oreo Thu 23-Mar-23 07:41:43

What’s that to do with the SNP?

multicolourswapshop Thu 23-Mar-23 07:00:11

There’s BOJO on the news again trying to defend his actions the horrid man

I meant 2016 not 2006. Doh!

Lucky you corrected yourself before Volver got there!

Joking apart, Unfortunately it's also a party with many members who have grown used to power and the backstabbing and infighting has set in just as it does in the other major parties. So what you're saying, is that the SNP is a victim if its own success? I always thought Nicola Sturgeon was very shouty and full of herself which in turn encourages the infighting you mention, but I may be wrong. Even the prospective SNP candidates seem to be having ding dongs about each other already, but I guess that is the timeless aspect of politics. Oh for a day when they can stop promoting themselves and get on with sound policy making instead!

I goodness, I post and lo and behold, along comes volver to tell me how wrong I am 😂😂😂
Again.

In fact, was asking multicolourswapshop a question, not you.

And you were surprised? Surely not.
