I think with most people it’s not for a bad reason that they change their user name, it’s because they leave and return, or have a technical problem and get locked out of Gransnet. You can’t rejoin with the same user name, can you?

For people with a very distinctive posting style and strong views it’s impossible to disguise who you are on Gransnet even if you try to, for whatever reason, because there are a limited number of regular posters and you will inevitably be recognised, and some of your more contentious statements will be remembered. That’s both the strength and weakness of this forum. Mumsnet is far more anonymous if that’s what you want.

You could say yes in a pm (or ignore it) but wouldn't expect the other person to post it.

that sort of think is usually done by the back door- pms to 'group' (as I won't use the other word for it).

Well, like GG13 I don't have a clue, and I'm not really that bothered to find out.

If someone comes back with a different username and doesn't shout 'Yoohoo, it's me back!' then I think people should just leave them to it.

Even if we know, we'd tend to ignore it because someone may have a reason for a name change.

It's usually fairly obvious, though.

I've never bullied anyone by the way, I got too emotionally involved and triggered in arguments, that I didn't start, while suffering unknown (at the time) illness. Some of the things said to me were pretty awful and I'd challenge most people not to lose it a bit and bite back

I have apologised, paid my dues and worked on myself, that's all anyone can do really apologise and be accountable

What is your problem? Neither I nor anyone else has 'outed' trisher - simply pointed out that we know she is back under another guise. I have said so to GagaJo in the past when she has bemoaned trisher's passing, so it is odd that this thread was started in the first place. It is you who is dragging it out, nobody else. I've made no secret of it as you say and have apologised and moved on from bad behabiour... I have been back a long time with no issues at all

No, but if someone starts a thread asking about it , it is bound to draw attention, isn't it? It's hardly on to do that and then accuse people who answer of 'bearing a grudge' and 'bullying'.
