What lovely news to share!

spottybook Sat 01-Apr-23 10:41:54

Thank you all for your good wishes and kind thoughts. We had a rather difficult week with lots going wrong, nothing major and first world problems but stressful nonetheless so the news was a huge boost. We have grandchildren who live close so it will be lovely to have the full complement again.

crazyH I have been on Gransnet for 10 years but only post occasionally smile

How lovely for you and what a reunion you will have! At one stage some of my children spent a couple of years in the UK. It was great to have them back and it also ‘cured’ them of their desire to live overseas which was an added bonus!

Wonderful news. I can imagine how thrilled I’d feel if either of mine decided to return home but I know there’s no chance of them leaving Australia.

spottybook so happy for you - your name is not very familiar to me. Are you new on GN ? If so, welcome. If not, I’m sorry…..

I’m delighted for you spottybook. Mine were away for 6 years; 3 in Hong Kong and 3 in Europe. I was heartbroken when they left at 1 and 4 but we visited yearly. and they came over yearly. But I didn’t find it easy to re-establish the same close connection when they returned in early 2021. They are 9 and 12 now. Of course particularly with the younger one they wouldn’t have remembered life before they left. I have 2 younger GC’s now who live very locally luckily.

Heard from DS this morning that he and the family are moving back to the UK after being in the Far East for four years. We are absolutely thrilled at the thought of their return. Although we have been lucky enough to visit while they have been away (apart from during lockdown) it will be so good to have them home and see our grandchildren more often. We had thought they would be away for quite a few years more so are over the moon.
