Nailbrushes - a thing of the past?

It occurs to me that no families of the younger generation appear to have nailbrushes. Am I alone in owning one, even though it's not in daily use?

Four in use here, one each in the shower caddy, on the bathroom basin, in the kitchen and utility room sinks. I couldn’t make pastry without scrubbing underneath my nails, before and after.

We have several, and they're in regular use. I've noticed them in our Son's and Daughter's bathrooms too. Ours are wooden, rather than the plastic ones.

We have a couple of wooden ones with natural bristles.

Not something as a thing of the past for me. We have them in both shower and bathrooms, and also in our travel toilet bags.

We have one near each sink. Essential after gardening or doing any dirty job.

I have a nail brush in every bathroom, (gardening necessitates it). DS1 and dil (in their 30’s) have them as they are both artists and get mucky hands. Ds2 who works in an office (late 20’s) doesn’t use one.

I have one at my kitchen sink, one in the downstairs loo and one in the bathroom. I also have 3 manicure sets, one down by where I sit during the day and one in my bedroom and the other is in my handbag. The most used item in them is the end of the nail file for cleaning out my nails....how the heck do they get so dirty so often?

I have always had nail brushes in the kitchen, the utility room and the downstairs cloakroom. Indispensable.

Me too! My nails get in a right mess after gardening, despite wearing gloves.

I hear that Care homes and hospitals do not use nailbrushes for patients.

Communal use of nail brushes would be unhealthy in care homes /hospitals.

Obviously. They don’t encourage people to have their own.

I have nail brushes in the kitchen and bathrooms. My latest brushes came from Boots, but are available in several local chemist shops.
My daughter, middle fifties also uses nail brushes.

I buy mine from Tesco, I like the single row of bristles on the back, they get right in there!😁

tanith Tue 11-Apr-23 19:02:43

I have 3 on the go one in the bathroom two in the kitchen one for me and one for scrubbing potatoes.

lixy Tue 11-Apr-23 18:46:13

Nailbrush in frequent use here! I buy mine from a local shop - wooden with bristles rather than plastic.

When G'chn were younger we used to make 'pastry' after gardening. Despite the washing and bushing they would still have grub under their nails - 'pastry' making resulted in clean nails!

Lomo123 Tue 11-Apr-23 18:43:09

Just bought 2 the other day. Little granddaughter loves "helping" in the garden and she used one of them after.

Another nail brush fan here. I have three on the go , bathroom, downstairs loo and kitchen.
I have gel on my nails ( not false nails, just unbreakable pretty gel covering my own nail) so I use a brush almost every time I wash my hands, I love that clean feeling.

Ziplok Tue 11-Apr-23 18:32:16

Yes, I use one.

Forlornhope Tue 11-Apr-23 18:29:27

Another regular nail brush user here. I keep my nails short too. I cannot think that the talons are hygienic.

Yammy Tue 11-Apr-23 18:29:16

I must be old we have them on the utility sink and in the showers.
A tip that sort of helps from my MIL before gardening push your nails if they are short into a soft bar of soap you get a layer underneath that helps when brushing them.

We have them as do our AC. Little ones get filthy nails at nursery and school! Doesn't always come out in the bath or shower.

henetha Tue 11-Apr-23 18:19:10

I sent away for two and six arrived. I hadn't realised there were three in a pack. Anyway I always use nail brushes. I like my nails to feel clean after housework or gardening.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Apr-23 18:16:30

We have always got a nail brush in the downstairs loo, which is replaced frequently.
