I was really sorry I flipped off a handsome and interesting beau (who was very interested in me) for someone who actually left me. What was I thinking? Young and stupid, I guess.

By the time I was free again “beau” was taken and had actually moved to New York state. He was as the one that got away.

I also dreamed of marrying Peter O'Toole. I met him when I was 15. A very young 15. We sat with him and his wife on a bench outside a theatre he was appearing in. He was charm itself and just as beautiful up close as I expected.

He had been out on Hampstead Heath that morning being taught how to throw a boomerang for a film he was making ( How to Steal a Million)

My Dad wrote to him and told him that his teenage daughter had been driving him crazy about him ( I had seen Lawrence of Arabia in the cinema about 24 times)

Well, back in the real world I dreamed of marrying a wonderful Irishman I met when I was 17. No chance there. I did marry, but very unhappily as was still in love with Irishman. Still am.

I was desperately in love with Richard Greene, who was Robin Hood on the telly. I think it was because he had a tree-house.

Tommy Steel, Cliff Richard, George Harrison, Brian Ferry.... Almost 70, not married but have a significant other who isn't particularly musical but has more useful qualities like excellent DIY skills. I can always use Spotify to remember the ones that got away...

Never did dream of actually marrying anyone but when I was at school did like Errol Flynn. We used to keep picture of our favourite film stars on the underside of our desks.

I didn't dream I'd marry but I loved the rugged type and manly, possibly a cowboy and I'd be his equal cow girl. In the end I married a rough rider (horses) so I suppose I married my type.

When I was five, I wanted to marry my uncle, my mother's younger btother who would have been about 19 then. He was so dashing and I was bitterly disappointed to learn that it was not allowed.

George best!!at about 7, then David Essex at about 15 those smouldering gypsy looks and London accent and Later Paul Young who I saw a few weeks ago, still looking good, but his knees have gone from the knee slides in his teens to thirties and seemed a really nice guy able to take the mick out of himself.x

And yes, George Best. I saw him in the flesh a few times in the 1960's (fully clothed regrettably) and he was pretty hot.
My son used to see him in a pub in the Kings Road in later years and didn't realise who he was until he saw a photo when he died.

Yes, there was something weirdly fanciable about Alan Rickman.

I always rather fancied David McCallum, but looking at him now I just can't see what I saw in him. I really prefer my men bad and grubby.
I did have one real person that I wanted in my late teens and early 20's - in fact I think he's pretty special to this day and we're still friends. He's the one that got away, but I'm very happy with my own husband. We've been together for more than 50 years though married for less.

I was not going to get married, I wanted to join the QAs and travel the world.
When I was seventeen I met the most wonderful young man and I changed my mind, I didn't marry him until I was 21 and had finished my training though.
