A "nice" thread

I feel like starting a "nice" thread.

Post something nice that is happening now to you. Or in the past. Or likely to happen in the future.

In real life, I know of some things that are not nice that are happening to people. But I know these things in confidence. Each person does not know about the other.
People think I have only their problem to help them with, whereas in reality, I have about six.

I am ok really I think.
Just fancied a bit of cheering up.
I am actually going out today to a nice thing, which will hopefully help.
So at some point, I wont reply back for a while.

Congratulations Marydoll!
Doing exactly the same here, visiting days old granddaughter, our first 💝 grandchild
Don’t think anything is nicer xx

I have had a lovely weekend with my family. I don't get to see my daughter from Glasgow very often. She has gone now as she needs to get back to work. Thanks to both my daughters and families for a lovely weekend before my 82nd birthday

This is such a lovely thread that I've just discovered - always a bit late at the feast, me! Reading it is so cheering, like the Good Morning thread. I haven't read it all yet, but I'll be back!
I always try to start each day with 'An Attitude of Gratitude' - apart from the just waking up! My list always starts with my three children, and their lovely father who died so long ago. I'm so glad we got to share our love in the time we had together. Then there are my five grandchildren, all making their happy and separate ways in the world. My home with it's wonderful view. Tai chi which brings me not only health and fitness, but friendship and the joy that I am able to share it's benefits with others. Two specific gratitudes today are that my daughter and her girls had a safe drive home from Kent yesterday, and the younger one has received a conditional acceptance from her preferred uni. By the time I've thought of all that there's no room in my head for anything else and even a grey day seems brighter.
Fancythat flowers and thank you.

We finally got to see Andre Rieu live at Wembley Arena on Saturday and stayed with DS, DIL. DGD and we also saw DS2 and his wife.
Now home and enjoying a coffee in the warm sunny garden with my cat and listening to Andre Rieu on Alexa in the background.
Deep breathing - Spring is here and for a few hours all worries melt away.

I have discovered the wonderful Louise Penny "Inspector Gamamche" 3 Pines detective novels. Full of gentle wisdom.

This week the temperature is going up and there will be sun!

This is another friendly, happy thread, a bit like the Good Morning one.
We went to a 90th birthday party on Saturday afternoon, and the lady whose birthday it was, had organised a visit from a local Army Wives Choir. What lovely music they sang, and we all had a sing a long at the end.
This morning I managed 15 minutes in the garden, trying to weed out a few dandelions. Exhausted now, and with a back ache, but it was so lovely out in the sunshine.
Then the young man came with his sample books for my new kitchen blind. I chose one, and he has measured up and given me the quote. Not as much as I thought it may be, so very pleased am I.

I love reading the variety in all the Gran's lives. That cheers me. I'm a Brit living in upstate NY (40 years) but still miss England.
I love to watch my collection of British movies. Still think British telly is better than anything here!
Over the years I've planted masses of daffodils to remind me of spring in England. They warm my heart.

Hope you ok. I find nature cheers me up . I love to watch the birds in my garden or see the flowers and trees in the back field. Even the sound of rain lifts my spirts. Visting my late husbands grave and tending it also helps me when I am down (odd I know)
I hope your event cheered you up, events tend to make me anxious but we are all different. Take care.

It's my Birthday on Wedbesday. 71 years young. I've booked a matinee in London for Oklahoma and I'm watching my granddaughter perform in Dr Dolittle in the evening. I will also try to find my late husbands memorial red heart on the wall opposite Parliament. Yes, that is something nice as I have only just requested it.

GrannyZoom Mon 17-Apr-23 12:07:03

Well done Tanith.
I have just booked a holiday abroad, first time since my husband dies three years ago, I had never booked our holidays and have found it quite daunting.
Now I am so excited!!

Have just come back from a trip to Oxford with husband to buy my main birthday present (for Thursday). I wanted a light summer coat to wear over dresses. Not a thing in Jhn Lewis but we had coffee there then went to Sesalt, not expecting to find anything. Put there was a smart stone-coloured long jacket, which is actually 100% waterproof. Icing on the cake: they gave us a £40 discount! And now we're back home by noon. So a really good day so far.

What a good idea! I am hopefully getting a tortoise to look after, really looking forward, we have a lovely garden for him to enjoy.

My next door neighbour knocked earlier with a lovely box of biscuits for me.
She'd been away for a short break and I'd 'kept an eye' on things for her.

It was a lovely surprise....

I will be back later.
I am so enjoying the posts. I cant bear/dont feel in the mood to see/hear the news in general, and deeper threads on GN right now.

My nice post is a homage to the lady who runs one of the craft groups I attend. She is in her mid eighties, treats everyone the same, celebrates our achievements and has a wonderful and optimistic outlook on life. She gets people to do things and help her to raise money for charity funds (food bank) by asking if they could help her rather than commanding. She raises quite a lot of money for very needy local charities that serve local families in hard times. She is one of those people who is not afraid to do the job herself however humble. She is the nicest lady I have met in a very long time. In her company you feel that you are 'home'.

Lovely.

Feel like I may be in danger of overusing that word, like nice, but whatever!

She sounds like she has special skills.

DGS rang this am to ask if he could come and see us. While he was here, he asked if there were any jobs we want to doing.
So now the lawn has had its first mow!
It cost us . . . a can of Pepsi (which we keep for his visits. Made my day!

Aw. Lovely.

People volunteering to help, and younger people too, is a bit special really.

Fancythat I am so sorry to hear that - I hope they are problems which can be resolved.

Thank you.
It went worse before getting better, but it may all work itself out , that particular problem. Thankfully.

fancythat Mon 17-Apr-23 11:32:55

A gratitude list is a good idea Phillippa111
I agree with you about the war stuff too.
I may have mentioned before on GN that my dad used to watch quite a lot of war stuff. It made an impression on me. So thankful not to be experiencing it.

I'm very new to Harry Potter ( I know!) and have been compiling quizzes for my nine year old granddaughter who is in a Harry Potter phase. She knows a lot of the books and has read them as well as heard them as audio books and seen the films. She loves the quizzes as she gets most of the equation right and I am amazed at how much she has retained. She gets a lot of recognition for this from me. I've run out of questions as I've only done the first book ,so I've sent off for a couple of quizzes books. I get a lot of pleasure from doing this with her and am looking forward to the books arriving.

I do a gratitude list quite often and that cheers me up. I'm grateful for my pretty good health, my lovely daughter and granddaughter who I get on really well with, my loyal and supportive friends, I have enough to live a reasonable life.

Also deeper things like grateful I don't live in a war zone, have a roof over my head, clean running water, am warm enough, enough food etc. I am one of the lucky ones on this planet right now.

We had a walk this morning with a group of us and then afterwards we all sat around in the park with our coffees and had a good chat in the sunshine. Lovely after all the torrential rain we had yesterday. One of our group has just lost his wife and it was good he turned up and we were able to support him.
