We spent Easter with DS, DiL, DGD and DGS in Bath. The weather was perfect and although busy Bath was lovely. We have had a tricky time with DiL in the past but we all get on so well now.

When we got back my DD who was made redundant in February rang to say she has been offered a new and exciting job.

And we are looking after Granddoggy next week which I shall love.

Finally got my act together to go and visit my son and his family abroad in May it’s been a big hurdle for me to overcome.

A small thing really but I'm so enjoying the rediscovery of Barbara Pym novels. I've read them before of course but I'm loving immersing myself in her little worlds again. Coffee, cats and 'Excellent Women' and I'm set for the morning.

Had an enjoyable (but exhausting!) 2 weeks of intensive grandparenting. All 5 adult children and 7 grandchildren were here - not quite all at the same time, but the last of them left yesterday. Now it's a relaxing morning in bed with coffee and looking forward to going out for lunch later.

I just knew that amongst GNs that there had to be some lovely things happening.
Thank you.

I feel like replying to every post, they are all so nice!
It may take me some time.

Gingster I like the sea too. I do try and see it a few times each year.
I think I am right in thinking it looks different according to the reflection of the sky? Not sure.

Juliet27 What a wonderful sight that is.
I am open mouthed that a robin would take from your hand!

My nice post is a homage to the lady who runs one of the craft groups I attend. She is in her mid eighties, treats everyone the same, celebrates our achievements and has a wonderful and optimistic outlook on life. She gets people to do things and help her to raise money for charity funds (food bank) by asking if they could help her rather than commanding. She raises quite a lot of money for very needy local charities that serve local families in hard times. She is one of those people who is not afraid to do the job herself however humble. She is the nicest lady I have met in a very long time. In her company you feel that you are 'home'.

Glad you are gradually getting stronger Ashcombe and I’m quite envious of your varied lifestyle 😀

‘My’ robins have a nest and the babies must have hatched as the parents are coming to the door to collect mealworms that we bought yesterday. One of them is even taking them from our hand, which is so cheering.

I love watching the sea at our holiday home. It’s the only sound I can hear apart from the skylarks twittering. I could watch it all day - it’s never the same . The big skies too, with ever changing shapes and colours. This is my
‘Nice’ time. Ahhhhh!

What a great post all round Ashcombe. Aw.

I am starting to feel more cheerful.

that was to grandMattie

*Lollin" - lovely to read. I am imagining being where you are.
I sometimes watch some programmes partly to imagine myself where it is being filmed. I find it soothing.

DH has his main home in France but is with me for a few weeks as we shall be going on a cruise later this week along French rivers. Afterwards, a week in Torbay will be followed by three weeks chez lui!

Best of all, each day sees me becoming stronger following open heart surgery last Autumn for a mitral valve repair. 💜

fancythat Sun 16-Apr-23 07:12:35

Wonderful and great. Lovely for you.

Lollin Sun 16-Apr-23 07:12:03

I’ve woken up naturally so feel properly rested and alert while enjoying my cuppa and the quiet of the daffodils in the garden. I said quiet but the birds are so noisy but their sound is beautiful so adds to my lovely start to the day.

I am very blessed. My house has been sold before the purchase of a flat. My daughter and her family have welcomed me for an unlimited time.

The post sounds a bit me me me.
But I think others need cheering up too.

I feel like starting a "nice" thread.

Post something nice that is happening now to you. Or in the past. Or likely to happen in the future.

In real life, I know of some things that are not nice that are happening to people. But I know these things in confidence. Each person does not know about the other.
People think I have only their problem to help them with, whereas in reality, I have about six.

I am ok really I think.
Just fancied a bit of cheering up.
I am actually going out today to a nice thing, which will hopefully help.
So at some point, I wont reply back for a while.
