I too, often have thought about the things that they lived through and discoveries that were made in their lifetimes. Dad was almost 88 when he went and mum lived till she was 99. I was a wee “surprise” late in 1952. My two brothers were already here.

My MiL is still with us though she's in hospital where I was visiting her today. She's 98 born 1925.
A wonderful lady.

Parents born before WW1, and Spanish flu, for instance, and before the Financial Crisis, will have had a very different start to those born later. I find it fascinating to think what they have experienced, the above, most will have lived through WW2 and served, and then radio, telephone, cars, NHS, antibiotics, TV. Just mindboggling.

My mother went from not having a TV until the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II to having a smart TV’s upstairs and downstairs, along with an iPad.

I think MYOB is a little harsh.

My father was born in 1911 and some years older than my Mum.

Another thread today is about ACs getting to 50 or 60 being a shock- with many sharing when they were born. What is the difference?

Mine were the same as the OP. Dad 1912 mum 1915. Both in June. I plant a rose for my mum on her birthday geraniums for dad!
He was born in NZ. She in Burma. It's a wonder they met at all

No reason in particular, was discussing this with a couple of friends very recently, and wondered. And of course, no-one has to respond at all.

Same for most threads on here. Just a discussion- and taking part is always, optional, quite clearly.
