Oh, I forgot to say, DH and I both got the alert on our phones, a few seconds apart. It didn’t seem very loud. I suppose the point of a test is to see what needs tweaking to make it more effective.

Good morning Mick and all from currently sunny but starting to cloud over, West Sussex. I was expecting a call from DD3 to go to their’s to mind DGD as she wasn’t well yesterday but when the call came she said GD was in good form, just coughing so ok to go to nursery. This is more or less DGD’s permanent state - she is constantly bunged up and coughing and has recently been diagnosed with sleep apnoea. They paid for a private consultation as had waited months for an NHS appointment. She is now on waiting list to have tonsils and adenoids removed but could have a long wait as they can’t afford to go private for the operation. I hope it won’t be too long as she is often tired through frequent waking at night and she will start school in September.

Sympathy to Grandmabatty, I hope the bug is short-lived.
Grandmattie, I’m sure your family will cope with having you for a bit longer. If the weather is reasonable, maybe you can do a bit of exploring in your new neighbourhood or Bristol in general? When my mother-in-law moved to be nearer us she took lots of bus journeys ‘there and back’, just to get a feel for the area. You must be missing your crafting - I look forward to when you are all settled and posting pictures of beautiful bags, cushion covers etc like you used to 🙂

Hope babydoll’s tummy problems are short-lived. These cuddles are so precious Marydoll. I love that ‘new baby’ look and smell. It only lasts a few weeks and then they are still lovely but more ‘of this world’.

Love all the holiday photos, including the ski one multi. These daffodils are beautiful Taichinan, when I tapped to enlarge the photo I could really see the lovely blend of orange and yellow - so cheering.

I must go and get the washing out of the machine. I expect the rain will arrive as soon as I hang it out. As not childminding I will have to revert to plan A which is housework. We go to Scotland again in just over a week’s time so need to leave the house clean and tidy 😀

Your day yesterday sounds lovely Grammaretto.
Slightly jealous of your Orient Express trip holly!

annsixty Mon 24-Apr-23 10:50:25

Good morning from a sunny Stockport.
Grandmattie do you have a local AGEUK in your area.
We do here and they will do jobs like DIY and other things too.
They are not cheap in my estimation, when I got in touch last year they charged £35 an hour but I wanted the jobs done, very pleasant man came to visit, unfortunately he could not do the jobs I wanted but passed on several names of people they work with and I got the work done for the same price with a minimum of two hours being required.
The very best of luck with it all.

Good morning all from sunny Lancashire.

Another day of pottering indoors and housework. I’m getting cabin fever! Am now experiencing some double vision, which I was warned about. It should settle down, I’m taking it as a positive sign that the treatment is working.

Beautiful flowers Taichinan, thanks for sharing.

Have a good day all.

Teasel57 Mon 24-Apr-23 10:32:49

Good morning from sunny West Sussex!

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 24-Apr-23 10:25:51

Good morning from an improving Co Durham.
Dg dropped of for breakfast and walk to school this morning and it was dry, as we left the house the heavens opened! Although it’s just a 10 minute round trip, I was soaked. Why does it always wait till pick and drop of time?
Some lovely photos again today.
GrandMattie, so frustrating for you.
Marydoll, hope your vertigo improves.
My alert happened at 3.02pm. Not very loud though.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow.

Washing out, phone calls to make and a visit to a bed store where hopefully, the bed I looked at online will be a straightforward order and deliver. If I hear once more, due to covid blah, blah, blah, I may have a meltdown!

Wishing all a good day.

Wyllow3 Mon 24-Apr-23 09:37:27

Morning from a part sun S Yorks. Yesterday the rain did not appear as promised, indeed the garden could do with some.

Quakers and gym and a visit to M n S were great but its left me with a legacy of exhaustion CFS wise so is a quiet day needed, just one appointment.

Best for days out, holidays, moving house matters, family care, and may poor lies have as good a day as possible.

hollysteers Mon 24-Apr-23 09:33:29

Good morning!🙄

hollysteers Mon 24-Apr-23 09:33:00

Good mimicking and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
DD left for the south yesterday and I need to do a shop as well as work out what clothes to wear for my Orient Express trip next week. The trip was postponed through Covid. It’s a bit different to packing for an ordinary holiday.
I also need a tv/aerial expert as the terrestrial is breaking up and although DS has done his best, it needs an expert.

GM I’m so sorry you are having such a stressful time.
Lovely pic mukticolour and what a pretty place for your stay ginny

Taichinan Mon 24-Apr-23 09:28:11

Good morning Mick and all. With 43 posts ahead of me I'm going to post first and read later! However I did stop off at some photos as I scrolled down. Honfleur, Fowey and The Netherlands all look lovely.
Anyway, it's another bitterly cold day in the north wind on the Angus coast with snow forecast on the hills and 'wintry showers' elsewhere. My metabolism has gone back into winter hibernation mode and I slept until after 8 and was reluctant to get up even then. The heating's back on and the winter clothes are on too!
However, let us not forget the gratitude and it was so lovely to see this clump of glorious daffodils in the garden yesterday. They were being flattened by the wind and were too beautiful to leave there, so I brought them indoors where they will be appreciated. The person who had this house before us was a great lover of daffodils and the garden is full of many different kinds, even after 25 years. These are my favourites so I hope you enjoy them too.
The Great Alarm Event yesterday had mixed reviews in this family. Mine went off - I know because the notice was on screen - but I didn't hear it because I hadn't turned the sound up on my phone! I didn't have my Bluetooth hearing aids in either as I wanted to know whether it would be loud enough to alert a deaf person. DD and NewMan were in Glasgow go-karting with a contingent of six teens and they all got it, but DS1 and DiL in nearby xWest Kilbride didn't. Meanwhile down in Lincolnshire DS2 didn't get it while his wife and daughter standing next to him both did. Oh well, no doubt news of a real alert would spread quickly as bad news always does.
Nothing planned today except some much-needed housework after my busy week last week - and a concerted effort to keep warm! Have a lovely day everyone and I hope the Spring is Springing where you are x

Good morning to all, s somerset is going to be wet, again

This fibre crafting malarky of spinning and knitting, it does make me sleep, it must instill that soothing empty-minded rhythmn into my brain. I had a full eight hours last night, unusual for me

A quick breakfast and then off to the cs, I picked up a small container for 60p and it is proving useful for my crafting, there was a second one, hope it is still there

I have tidying and sorting later, all those random needles etc need to be put away. Floors vacuumed, a bit of dusting. I usually only `work` and maybe exercise until mid-day as morning is my best time for those activities. Lunchtime is that line across, after which I relax, reading, gardening, knitting etc. My body thrives on being attuned to its circadian rhythmn

Have a good day

Grandmabatty Mon 24-Apr-23 09:20:00

Grammaretto it is indeed Callander Park. Local to me and just lovely. Sadly ekwanimmitee I've been hit with sickness and diarrhea already this morning. Lots of sips of water and nothing to eat is my lot. Dgs1 is being helpful with lots of tummy rubs and cuddles. Dgs2 thinks grandma throwing up is very funny.

Stilllearning Mon 24-Apr-23 09:11:03

Morning from S Lanarkshire, bright but cold although at least the blue sky is cheering. Giffnock day and dropping in to brother in law's en route to see brother in law who is home from Canada for a short visit. He does this every couple of years to catch up with his life long pals as well as family. Sometimes his wife comes over too but but not always. She is actually Canadian so doesn’t have the same need.

Lovely holiday photos and a poignant one from you multicolourswapshop, you both look very happy in it, a good memory for you.

Another busy week ahead, travelling up to Oban for a few days childminding on Thursday. That should be quite relaxing actually and with an improvement in the weather forecast, I’m looking forward to it.

Thinking about everyone who needs support and wishing all a pleasant day.

monk08 Mon 24-Apr-23 09:01:22

Good morning all from a dull but dry Black country.
Lovely photos on here this morning, haven't read through yet slept in late, tummy rumbling so will get some breakfast and catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Grammaretto Mon 24-Apr-23 08:57:24

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is quite sunny and mild.
I was on a foraging walk with a medicinal herbalist yesterday which finished up in her cottage kitchen enjoying a feast. We ate nettle bread, wild garlic pesto, hummus with nettles, fresh leaf salad, a drink from flowering currant cordial and sweet Cicely ice-cream with nettle cake decorated with violets, pansies and gorse flowers.

Today I need to tackle some phonecalls and clean the windows on the inside as the window cleaner is coming tomorrow.

Love the holiday photos Ash, Ginny and Gala
Is it Calander Park you take the DGC to gmbatty?

Have a great day everyone as best you can

EkwaNimitee Mon 24-Apr-23 08:55:10

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle.
Yesterday morning was lovely so I got out before lunch for some planting. Just as well as it turned cloudy and a bit showery in the afternoon, far less enticing for getting out. I did sow pots with french and runner beans though, this was before I saw we are due frost this week! Just glad I didn't get tempted into buying bedding plants this weekend.
Today, hopefully, bed stripping and laundry. Hopefully because the dreaded bug has struck again. Just as I got to bed, heart rate and temperature shot up and I got a disturbed night. All a bit calmer at the moment but I shall take the day gently and hope not to have to ask the surgery for antibiotics again.
It's all very annoying.
I hope you aren't going to be laid low Grandmabatty, hard for you to rest up with those young ones.
Best wishes for babydoll ...and her gran!

The best possible day to you all.

grandMattie Mon 24-Apr-23 08:51:41

DDand p her DH both work full time, Marydoll. Plus the girls have all sorts of activities needing fetching and carrying.
I’m just annoyed that the removals didn’t contact me, but waited until I called today for me to find out they couldn’t do this week.
I’m staying with DD atm and don’t want to outstay my welcome. They are being really lovely, but having a tearful, emotional guest for this long must be very tiresome. I know I would find it trying.

Foxygloves Mon 24-Apr-23 08:44:28

Crossed posts with Cornergran I see, who sounds reassuring.

Foxygloves Mon 24-Apr-23 08:42:35

Don’t get disheartened GrandMattie - you are so nearly there!
Have you tried looking for a “chap” who can reassemble your furniture if your SIL can’t? Sexist of me I know, maybe a “chapess ” ?
Unpacking can be done at your leisure I have found , having the removal men doing it can lead to rearranging things for weeks if not months to come.
I’m sure the family, especially the girls will be happy to help!

harrigran Mon 24-Apr-23 08:39:31

Good morning from the NE where it is raining and quite cool.
My tablet got the alert at 2.59 yesterday but it didn't sound on my phone, I don't think I had used it so probxably not switched on.
SIL was going to put a cover over my downpipe and drain because it gets choked with leaves. He gathered everything together and the heavens opened so we retreated to the study to sort out batteries. A little while ago he brought me a carry case that holds every size of battery and has a tester. I now have them all in one container and easy to locate.
Dinner last night was chicken breast stuffed with goat's cheese and wholegrain mustard and wrapped in bacon. I made a mushroom sauce to serve with it. Vegetables were roast carrots, parsnips, shallots and garlic with balsamic glaze.
We rounded the evening off by watching the last two Robson Green programmes about Northumberland, an area that is familiar to us.
Nothing planned for today but I have started a novel so may just have some quiet time.
Have a good day.

cornergran Mon 24-Apr-23 08:38:35

Oh heck, grandmattie. Thinking of our move here the removers didn’t unpack this end although they had packed a lot for us. They did assemble items they had dismantled such as beds. Could you call and check? Better than uncertainty. I know you’re itching to live independently again but could you stay where you are until your new home is ready to move into? Unpack without pressure?

Not sure if there’s a local Handyperson service in Bristol. Feels as if there must be. They are pretty universal in England, usually part public funded the hourly rate is reasonable. Here they will put furniture together, install shelves and mirrors, that type of thing. Might be useful. It will all work out, try to stay positive flowers.

GrannySomerset Mon 24-Apr-23 08:36:59

Grey here this morning but dry so will probably get some washing out for a bit, but need to get it in the machine first. After a busy few days this week is less full which is no bad thing and I can devote some time to the garden which is at its best - downhill once the blossom and bulbs are over.

Sorry for the frustrations, gMattie, the fates seem to be conspiring against you. Hope Babydoll is soon thriving and that Sar gets some answers.

Marydoll Mon 24-Apr-23 08:21:17

I am sorry to hear that, GM. I know they are busy, but can your family help with the unpacking? How stressful for you. 💐
