Good morning all from a sunny but chilly Glasgow. It was so cold yesterday we had a spell of sleet/hail.

Successful mission at the bed store plus a discount as I was buying a mattress too. Bed arriving in three weeks plus assembly. Job done.
Sorry to hear you are unwell Grandmabatty. A restful day
looking after yourself will hopefully see you on the mend soon.
Susan 💐

Hoping a good day is ahead for all.

Good morning all from a sunny W Kent, where we are back from our break in Norfolk. Very lucky with the weather but problems with WiFi. We had a lovely time but a few lessons have been learnt about time moving on. DS and DIL and two GC joined us the first weekend and we walked and walked well outside our comfort zone so must remember to mention distance in future. We were in a cottage but booked into a hotel at the end, we realised we should have come home after the cottage. It has given us things to think about, now slightly worried about holiday later in the year to Wales - are we up to it?
Lots seems to have been happening and I wish everybody a good day.

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Practised yesterday as on the desk in charge and singing at the music club. I’m singing So Deep is the Night, Singing Bird and a request Any Dream will Do.
As Paul O’Grady said “I have to be exhumed in the morning” I’d love to wake up early bright and breezy as some of you here are. It might be because I snore for England, so it’s a hard night’s work…
Last night I started watching BBC War and Peace from 2016 with the handsome James Norton. Very good.

Waiting for scan results is so trying Gingster, my Orient Express trip next week is affected by Brexit Ashcombe, bother.
Get well soon Gmbatty and thoughts to anyone with worries.

Grammaretto Tue 25-Apr-23 09:27:38

I don't think the French have forgiven us for Brexit Ash. Aren't there discussions going on today about trying to make borders simpler. sorry if too political for the GM thread!

Good morning all from a cold sunny Lancashire.

I’m still getting some double vision, especially when reading. It’s tiring but not painful. I have plenty of housework to be done.

I will be getting on with some laundry today and taking advantage of the weather to line dry it.

I hope you are feeling better today Grandmabatty.

Happy Tuesday everyone 🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but frosty Carlisle where it is currently 1C. My bird bath is frozen solid! I'm worried about my outside tap. It would normally still be turned off but I've had it on in the recent warm dry spell to keep my lawn seed damp. I can't understand why it didn't occur to me to turn it off again yesterday. It's an annoying process though as it means emptying the under sink cupboard and struggling with a screwdriver amidst the various pipes. I'll have to go out and check when it warms up a bit.

Yesterday was taken gently and my body seemed to have fought off my mystery infection, my chest I think. Just as well as I had to nip into town after lunch as the doc had slipped up on a medical report I'd requested. I got back to my car just in time as the heavens opened, not with rain but a prolonged vicious hail shower.
Today, a catch up with housework then probably some admin, gardening is very much a maybe. The birds are beginning to return. I'm now getting welcome regular visits from a little lady sparrow who is assiduously chomping on my numerous aphids. I really need her to bring her friends too.

Best wishes for a swift recovery Grandmabatty. Sounds like it was a grim day for you yesterday.

Do have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Tue 25-Apr-23 08:41:10

Ash that sounds very much like the rigmarole we had to undergo from the Spanish officials when crossing in and out of Gibraltar. They seem to be there to make life as miserable as possible for you!

GrannySomerset Tue 25-Apr-23 08:25:23

Cold but bright morning with the garden sparkling with blossom and all the tulips out together - not what was intended but very colourful. Supermarket trip this morning and admin later, I think.

So nearly there, gMattie, but even someone as stalwart as you is allowed a brief wallow after dealing with so much over so long. A new life awaits. Hope today brings relief, Grandmabatty, and that you all recover. Love hearing about trips and cruises and wish all the holidaymakers a great time.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.

I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to get a doctor's appointment. I have to speak to a Nurse Practitioner first, when did it become this hard to actually get to see a doctor face to face.

Have a nice day everyone xxx

Alygran Tue 25-Apr-23 08:20:41

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Sunny and windy so far. I have washing on so fingers crossed for a dry day.
Housework this morning ahead of book club here later. Then I might cut the grass. I’m hoping the recent showers have dampened down the rapeseed pollen.
Have a good day everyone.

Grammaretto Tue 25-Apr-23 08:20:33

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 1°C but sunny.

We had hail yesterday so I quite believe you Taichinan

The end is in sight gMattie when you'll be on your new home turf! smile

I was at the hospital yesterday to see DMiL who perked up especially when I phoned her DD and she could speak on the phone. I told her she will get home on Thursday which she didn't know!

I hope you are better today Gmbatty
Looking after small ones when you aren't well is no fun.

Thanks for the pretty photos of travels and cake.

I haven't much on today. Clean those windows and sow some hardy seeds.

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Apr-23 08:17:30

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0°, sunny and cold. Thank you Susan, Marydoll and Taichinan for your concerns. Yesterday was a bad day. I started being sick at eight in the morning and didn't stop until six o'clock at night. It wasn't pleasant. Fortunately the other grandparents stay five minutes walk away so granddad came and got the boys. Dgs1 was very concerned about grandma and brought me his water to drink. Dgs2 thought the whole thing was a hoot and supported me by putting bits of loo roll down the toilet and laughing. He's a thug. 😂 I spent the rest of the day in bed.
Today I have a splitting headache which is probably dehydration. I'm about to try a cup of tea and a piece of toast. Dgs2 came down with the lurgy last night but dd says he's fine today. Dsil also has it. The only one who has escaped is dd. Fingers crossed. So an exceptionally quiet day ahead for me. Have a good day all

harrigran Tue 25-Apr-23 08:17:27

Good morning from a bright but chilly NE, it is just 2 degrees.
Spent the whole day in the study yesterday sorting paperwork and getting rid of some photographs, I have two cupboards full of them.
You are kept busy grandMattie, lots to do with a house move, soon be able to relax in your own place.
Enjoy your day especially those on holiday.

kittylester Tue 25-Apr-23 08:05:02

Good morning from a bright but chilly North Leicestershire.

Busy day ahead here. Our cleaners will come and work their magic today. I have Sing it Happy and then I am helping at a Memory Cafe. DH is doing a volunteer drive.

Have the best day possible.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 25-Apr-23 08:04:56

Good morning all from sunny but frosty Harrogate- a distinct chill in the air.
In the last two years you have been through a lot and coped so well, but you are human, in 4 weeks you will be nicely settled in your new apartment GrandMattie focus on that and you’ll be fine.
Your photos are lovely Ashcombe glad you’ve enjoyed your trip!
This morning I have a medical appointment at 9.30 then am going on to my art club. This pm DH has been persuaded to to have an appointment with a company to install a new door. We had a new door fitted on Monday, it’s nice, but the other door we need like a hole in the head!!
I hope you have a better day Marydoll and that dear little baby starts putting on weight
Have the best day possible folks

Gala Tue 25-Apr-23 08:02:45

Good morning all from a sunny but chilly Sefton.
Zoom exercise class first thing this morning then off to meet our Llandudno friends for lunch. We meet at a very nice country pub at a convenient halfway point. It has delicious food & a lovely view.
Have the best day you can & hang on in there gMattie you're almost there.

Ashcombe Tue 25-Apr-23 07:58:16

What is interesting, BlueSapphire, is that we were allowed straight on to the shuttle buses to leave the ship but the strict checks were enforced our return. Every passport was scrutinised with one guy being asked to remove his cap. Passing through the metal detector arch, we placed coats, cameras, etc to be X-rayed. The guy asked what the oblong shape was in my pocket so I said it was my phone. He insisted on seeing it. Sigh!

Grandmachrisy47 Tue 25-Apr-23 07:57:12

Good morning from a very cold but sunny Co Durham.
Waiting for arrival of dgd, two dogs and a large bag of washing to be hung out in our garden 😀.
I’m so annoyed with Sainsbury’s today. I have an online delivery every Tuesday and when I did the order I decided to treat us to the Dine in for £12 offer. This was reflected in the price quoted for the order. When the receipt was emailed this morning, they have charged the full price for the 4 items. They can have them all back😬
Hope all of those with health issues get better soon and enjoy the day everyone.

Liberty Tue 25-Apr-23 07:54:25

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk. We had no rain yesterday unlike most of the rest of the country it would seem.

My dentist has introduced a new system in dealing with dental emergencies which worked well for me yesterday. Routine appts aren’t available till late June now but I did as I was advised on Friday, rang at 8am,was offered a 9.15 appt and was home after a newly filled tooth by 10.30. Excellent service.

Today I’m off to an Arts Society talk with a couple of friends on ‘ Cleopatra’ and no doubt lunch afterwards.

In spite of the cold weather I hope all have some warmth in your day.

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Apr-23 07:51:37

Morning from a crisp sunny S Yorks.

Up early for me as waiting for a microwave delivery "anytime from 7am". Could be frustrating as ne "delivery "window"

Sue flowers

Bests for days out and for poor lies and of course rapid house stuff all.

BlueSapphire Tue 25-Apr-23 07:48:44

Ash, I was in La.Rochelle on a cruise last year, no problems getting into La Rochelle at all. Straight into the tour bus. They did check passports on return to the ship, but it was more a case of just waving through. Didn't have any more checks on our cruise of France and Spain.

BlueSapphire Tue 25-Apr-23 07:43:29

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, clear blue skies above.

Hope it is fine in London as well, as I am on a coach trip today to the Sky Gardens, said to be the highest gardens, on top of a skyscraper. Should be some good views if it stays fine, Love going to London, get a real buzz.

Busy morning yesterday, first yoga then home for a coffee, and then spent a couple of hours cutting the front grass, trimming a climbing hydrangea, and pulling ivy away from a house walk before it gets into the eaves. Also sprayed the weeds on the drive. Glad I got that done, as the rain arrived after lunch, so spent the afternoon reading.

Time to shower and dress, and be ready to catch a.bus to the coach pick-up point.

Wishing all a good day.

Gingster Tue 25-Apr-23 07:41:57

Good morning all and it’s sunny but very chilly here at the Suffolk seaside.

We had a lovely walk in the forest yesterday - lots of bluebells, blossom and pale green leaves on the many different trees.
So pretty!

Dd still hasn’t had her scan results. She phoned the hospital and they said the consultant has the results but will phone her next week. 🙄. Is this a good sign ? Who knows!

Today we’ll have a work free day and pootle out somewhere.

Ash enjoy your last day. 🛳️.

Llf - my 2 db’s and cousin and I often go for a trip down ‘memory lane’. It’s emotional , strange, funny and very enjoyable. Hope yours is too.

I hope all those with Illness, worries or just plain ‘cheesed off’ , feel brighter today. 🙏
🌷

Taichinan Tue 25-Apr-23 07:39:49

I meant to post this to show I'm not exaggerating! One of our "wintry showers" of yesterday.
