Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking grey cloud but remains dry here in brackley this morning.
Todays plan is to be a couch potato until around 4 this afternoon , I will watch the Coronation until 1 , and then watch the 1st stage of the Giro d`Italia cycle race .
Although I normally go to Bicester and have a breakfast bap despite the cafe being open , have decided otherwise but will get a Chinese Take Away later .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

Baubles, I'm quite envious. The beauty of thar early flight is that you have the whole day ahead of it. DD and I made the same trip and some of my mum's family live in Dublin.
Ash, enjoy your trip.
Glad to hear you more settled GM.

No lying couch potatoes here! Today we have First Communion in the parish, so it will be a long day. Last year, I was only sacristan on duty and I was exhausted, because it is a huge event here. The church will be bursting at the seams.
However, I have enlisted the help of two other sacristans, so it shouldn't be too onerous.

Yesterday, DD and I had a lovely morning together. We went to Costco to stock up for our trip next week and it was so busy. We got there at 10am for it opening and the queue was snaking round the car park. The large crowd stressed me out, as I fear being in crowds.
Much to our regret, we only took one trolley ( too heavy for me to push one) and everything got so muddled, we decided that I should just pay and she would square me up.
I nearly had an apoplexy at the till, when I heard what the bill was! 😁
We then had a Macdonald's ( her choice), which I thoroughly enjoyed!
I spent the afternoon splitting all the packs of meat from the freezer and failing to fit it in! 😱

Just as I was having my snooze, the Ebay queen visited with a present for Babydoll. She proceeded to remove all the cushions to inspect them, she had bought new sofas, opened and closed the conservatory blinds she was replacing hers and checked the hinges on the internal doors because she was installing new ones.
She is never in the least bit embarrassed at her behaviour!

Susan H sounds so like Dollie, asthma and nose bleeds. I hope he is OK.

I must dash, I have an early start and the main road is still closed, so I shall be going roon about the hooses as we say here, in order to get to church.

Have a great day folks and enjoy the cornonating Coronation parties!

Grey skies this morning but a delightful day ahead. Coronation procession and service to watch on big screen in the village hall complete with tea and coffee, followed by lunch. Dress for the occasion and enjoy it, are the instructions, so I shall do both.

Hope the new flat begins to feel like home, gMattie, and that everyone’s day goes to plan whether revelling in today’s ceremonies or ignoring them completely.

Good morning from an overcast NE where it is dry at present.
Turned the TV on when I went to make my cup of tea, London is very busy already, I shan't start watching until almost ceremony time.
The family will visit this afternoon we will have coffee and cake and then dinner later. We won't be having coronation quiche, it will be duck as it is GD1 favourite.
Have a memorable day.

Love watching all the members of the forces marching. All in time and very spectacular. I still wish that silly woman with a plummy voice would be quiet, though. I just don’t want to hear her commentary.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire on this Coronation Day. I will dip in and out of today’s events. Not so much the vox popping but definitely the actual ceremony. OH has to go and sort out his bees at some point and I need petrol as we’re going to Kew tomorrow to celebrate granddaughter’s 7th birthday. I will cook a celebratory dinner tonight for me and OH. Guinea fowl and all the trimmings. Chocolate cake and lashings of cream. A glass of fizz or two. Enjoy the day🥂

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset.

All sorted yesterday, pleased to have the holiday stuff packed away and all the laundry done.

It’s a couch potato day ahead. I’m looking forward to the pageantry. Mr C will I suspect nap then wander about, with luck passing the kettle. Easy food ready in the fridge.

Good to hear your progress grandmattie, pleased you arrived safely ash.

Best wishes to all.

Grandma70s Sat 06-May-23 07:32:09

I’ve got the television on already. London looks absolutely buzzing, I thought I was awake early, but nothing compared with these people. I’m going to watch it all. So lovely to have it in colour, unlike the last coronation which I watched on next door’s tiny black and white set.

Grammaretto Sat 06-May-23 07:31:19

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where we have thick fog.
Rain due later.
However I shall wrap up well and get a bus into Edinburgh where my df will drive us to the east Lothian coast for a morning of beach foraging with an expert.
I'll watch some of the historic day on tv later.
Baubles enjoy your Irish holiday.

It's nice that you are settling in gMattie. A west country girl!

I hope everyone has a happy weekend.

BlueSapphire Sat 06-May-23 07:30:42

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton.

I'll be joining the couch potato club today too! Just need a quick shower and dress, then I'll be ready. The smoked salmon is in the fridge for sandwiches, and a bottle of pink fizz is chilling and I bought a trifle for a sweet treat. I do love a bit of pageantry.

Had my mooch around Matalan yesterday, and came out several ££££ lighter - three pairs of cropped trousers in different colours, a plain white t-shirt, and a lovely short sleeved knitted striped top. All set for my cruise later on in the summer. But as it's to Iceland, I suppose I should be stocking up on warmer clothes!

Enjoy Coronation Day, all who can. God save the King 👑!

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Just on my way out to buy a newspaper and then settling down with DD to watch all the goings on.
Best wishes to all

Gingster Sat 06-May-23 07:27:39

Thanks Beechnut ❤️

Grandmachrisy47 Sat 06-May-23 07:27:14

Good morning from a damp Co Durham.
I will be joining the couch potato club today. I’m looking forward to watching everything. Dh has been warned I’m not cooking today, the fridge is full of food ( and wine), to be accessed as and when desired 🙂.
I have vague memories of the last coronation, mainly the air of excitement and the commemorative mug I got at the tea party in our local Working Mens Club. I was only six.
Dgd,s school had a coronation tea party yesterday and all pupils were given a bookmark.
Enjoy your day everyone.
God Save the King🥂🏛🍾💐

Gingster Sat 06-May-23 07:26:05

Good morning all and it’s damp here in Essex. What a shame! 🇬🇧.
Yesterday Dgd1 came home from Uni for the weekend to see her brothers for their birthday, had a take away and catchup. Today is her dad’s birthday, so she will spend time with him.

I will spend the day in front of the tv - I’ve requested that no one pops in 🙄. I don’t want to miss a second! 😂. Dh will be in and out and asking who this one or that one is? 😡.
So an early dog walk and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Yum!

Enjoy your day everyone and raise a glass on this very historic day 👑🍹.

Abitbarmy Sat 06-May-23 07:20:24

Good morning all on this historic day. Grey and damp here in North Yorkshire but set to improve as the day goes on. You don’t have to be an ardent royalist to enjoy the day but I hope you all have a good one, I’m certainly looking forward to it. We’re also going to enjoy the celebrations at the village hall tomorrow with DGd.

Beechnut Sat 06-May-23 07:18:22

Good Morning everyone on Coronation Day. I’ve pulled back the curtains to a miserable looking morning.
Good news about your daughter Ginster.

No special plans for today or the weekend. Beechnutella is coming over to watch the ceremony with me. Afterwards we will do our own bit of coronation tailoring as we make finishing touches to our fancy dress outfits.

Have a good day all. I shall be looking out for Seamus the wolfhound and anyone else I saw on the tv programme 🥂🤴🫅🏼

Stilllearning Sat 06-May-23 07:11:47

Morning from the edge of South Lanarkshire where I’ve been dog minding for DD with my sister in law who is also a good friend. We’ve had a lovely few days walking in the border hills near here, enjoying each other’s company and eating too many coffees and scones.

Enjoy your trip to Dublin with your DD baubles, your family catch up sounds great.

grandMattie, lovely to see you starting to get settled in your new home, first step on your new and exciting road, I wish you well.

Enjoy the weekend everyone, whatever you are doing.

multicolourswapshop Sat 06-May-23 07:10:11

Good morning my gn friends it’s to be 60% rain today think I’ll have a duvet day while watching tv all cosy and snug.

Enjoy your tv watching today

nanna8 Sat 06-May-23 07:08:40

We’re watching it over here. I wish, however, that the commentators would shut up for a moment so we could hear the music from the bands. They really do spew out a lot of factuous rubbish.

kittylester Sat 06-May-23 07:05:05

Good morning all from a fairly bright morning in North Leicestershire.

Nothing on the agenda today except watching the coronation. DH will nip to the village to collect our picnic from a local cafe before we settle down.

Hope everyone has the best day possible.

fancythat Sat 06-May-23 07:02:48

Good morning from down South. Verging on rain.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Susan56 Sat 06-May-23 07:01:51

Thank you NanKate.I stayed with her all night, her breathing seems to have settled now🤞🏻It’s such a responsibility/worry isn’t it?

NanKate Sat 06-May-23 06:58:51

I hope your DGD feels better today Susan. We are always on the alert for our youngest DGS.

NanKate Sat 06-May-23 06:56:22

Good morning Mick and All from a grey South Bucks.

So pleased Ashcombe you and your DH are safely in your French home. That breakfast on the boat sounded good.

My 3 friends will be arriving at 10.30 for the Coronation followed by a picnic lunch, then back to the telly with tea and homemade cake. It should be a good day. 👍

I remember 70 years ago being cross that it was raining, so my sister and I could not play outside in the garden 🌧️. Our small semi was full of my parents friends who huddled round our tiny Echo TV.

Susan56 Sat 06-May-23 06:56:15

Good morning from Shropshire.

We ended up collecting the children from school and nursery and bringing them back here for a sleepover. All went well until bedtime when DGD had an asthma attack then at 2am a two hour nosebleed.DH slept through it all!

Today both daughters and families here so ten to feed.Luckily most food preparation was done yesterday.I am looking forward to the day but also looking forward to getting into bed tonight😴

Sounds like a successful day grandMattie💪🏼

Have the best day you can everyone🦩👑

baubles Sat 06-May-23 06:45:52

Good morning all from Glasgow airport where it is cool and cloudy.

Our flight to Dublin leaves in an hour so DH and I collected DD at silly o’clock, I’m sure she and I will be zonked by early evening. DH can snooze the morning away when he gets back home.

I’m so looking forward to seeing aunts, uncles and cousins today, we are all meeting up at the home of one of my mother’s siblings.

Have the best day possible everyone.
